* Hand over a weapon (I.E. Is their still a round in the chamber (Is the Weapon "cleared")?)
* The way of carrying the weapon (e.g. ] pointing up or down, Is the finger on the trigger)
* Safety against unauthorized use
* Is the weapon on "safe" when not in use?
* Maintenance and its knowledge etc.

This is done to minimize or prevent risks to the operator, people in the vicinity and the weapon itself.
