The Minister of Finance, also known as the Finance Minister of India is a cabinet position in the Government of India and heads the Ministry of Finance. He drafts the general budget of the country, and is in charge of the national economy. Since June 2012, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has led the finance ministry following the resignation of former Finance Minister of India Pranab Mukherjee, who resigned to become the 13th President of India.
