Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | ||
---|---|---|
Shortcuts
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Place requests for new or upgrading of article protection, upload protection, or create protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Gang Rape (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Indefinite full protection: Gang rape (i.e. with a lower case 'r') is fully protected and it seems coherent for these to have same level of protection. . Egg Centric 23:17, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- Fully protected until (if ever) the other one is also unprotected. ☮Soap☮ 23:21, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
Shih Tzu (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent IP vandalism. Constantly IP's call Shih Tzu ugly which degrades dog and article. Webclient101 (talk) 23:04, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Matty B (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Many IPs have added material (much of it vandalism) about a YouTube performer who is not the subject of this article. This results in much confusion. David1217 01:34, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Full protection: Content dispute/edit warring. Érico Wouters 22:55, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
FIFA 13 (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary full protection: The FIFA 13 video game article has been vandalized multiple times for the past week or so, consistently introducing unsourced material to the reader and causing widespread confusion among the public -- a public which happens to use Misplaced Pages as its source of knowledge. Several people, including myself, have tried to revert the articles, clean them up and limit ourselves in only mentioning aspects that are already confirmed by the developers or by well-known sources. Unfortunately, however, it seems that several people, from multiple IP sources, are continuously vandalizing the page, despite our efforts made to ask them not to mention unsourced information in the article. It would be very nice if we can have a temporary suspension of editing in the article, until the time comes when more official information is revealed about the video game, which probably isn't going to happen until some time in mid August, as it normally does each year. In the meantime, I think it's best to have the FIFA 13 article locked to the version that I made, since it doesn't include the unsourced material that attempts to present itself as factual. Thank you and kind regards. --Nadia (talk) 21:47, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Rush Limbaugh–Sandra Fluke controversy (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: A clear effort by an IP to add POV to the article. Constent efforts to reword the whole of the background section and other section in an dispute over providing context to Issa's hearings. Casprings (talk) 15:07, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protection: IPs repeatedly changing the airdate to an unsourced date which is in conflict with the sourced information on the page. Frietjes (talk) 20:06, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- (Non-administrator comment) As there is only one IP involved over eight days (probably static), blocking it might be a better solution, than protecting the article. Armbrust, B.Ed. The Undertaker 20–0 20:10, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Current requests for unprotection
ShortcutsBefore posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Ye Shiwen (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Lower protection level to semi-protected: article is fully protected due to BLP issues, which is overkill because most BLP edits were made by IP's. Ye Shiwen just won another gold at the Olympics and update requests are piling up. -Zanhe (talk) 20:56, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page
ShortcutIdeally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Syria (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary full protection:
Some editors are actually trying to change the definition of the state of Syria and its governement by anticipating a overthrow of the Syrian State. Misplaced Pages has not to play cristal balls and to change the definition of the state. The opposition council in exile is not the Syrian state nor governement until it actually happens and the legal governement is overthrown. I believe this is a serious issue about Misplaced Pages credibility.
I request full protection because the page is under the palestinian-israel rules and that it is forbidden to reverse more than one time an addition. --DanielUmel (talk) 14:10, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
Here is one editor justification on the talk page
"The arguments employed by regime apologists here are beyond bizarre. Tercerista, none of the examples you give are valid due to the fact that the situations in question don't constitute a war. And I would encourage you to look up how the UN defines a war if you don't know, which I'm assuming you don't. DanielUmel, if you are going to claim legality, I advise you to actually have a clue about the law. Which laws are you even referring to? As for comparisons to flat earth theory, that is incoherent nonsense worthy of Assad himself"
The page should be moved back to this last uncontroversial version http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Syria&oldid=505086617 --DanielUmel (talk) 14:18, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- DanielUmel, asking you a simple question about which laws you are referring to while you happily defend a brutal dictator is hardly a reason to have a hissy fit. San

Temporary semi-protection. Dynamic-IP sock of User:Justicejayant causing a minor headache (on the talkpage as well, but that's not immediately solvable). ~~ Lothar von Richthofen (talk) 06:22, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- Why you reverted my edit even here??122.169.17.113 (talk) 07:47, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- It's actually not needed, because it's more about the vandalism performed by this editor, i believe this conflict can be solved in 1 minute, if this person provide some explanation for his vandalism, and stops too. 122.169.17.113 (talk) 5:14 pm, Today (UTC+10)
- I am adding back the original comment (see above at same level)- I don't see a reason to remove it; if nothing else it will provide the admin with some background info. Callanecc (talk • contribs) talkback (etc) template appreciated. 08:19, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
- Our friend 122... is the sock in question, for the record. ~~ Lothar von Richthofen (talk) 08:23, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Repeated vandalism from various IP accounts within about a 24 hour time period. The vandalism is light so far in comparison to other articles so I'm only requesting a protection against IP vandalism, but will likely increase due to the controversy surrounding her new book. Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – 1-2 weeks Can you extend the protection to this article by another week, we have now finally moved forward and got agreement on one point, but we are still not at a point where we have a article ready to go. We are working on getting a neutral non bias article ready in the sandbox but we are still some way off from getting a consensus on it. Edit warring will begin as soon as protection is lifted because there is still no consensus. It might be best 2 weeks as it really taking time to get this dispute resolved but 1 week gives us more time, by us i mean my self and User:Fishiehelper2 as we are on the other side of the argument to each other but we are working to get one article that will combine both the above but we are meeting with opposition so it is hard work to get the consensus. the admkn whi protected said there not going to be around but have no objection to it if another admin feels it right.
