Battle of Gao

Just a heads up that youre article is on ITNC.(Lihaas (talk) 15:52, 29 June 2012 (UTC)).

Thanks, commented there. Khazar2 (talk) 18:36, 29 June 2012 (UTC)
Just a heads up to User_talk:Remzone#Edit_summaries, the user is edit warring and ignoring idiscussion. Ive warned him, but we should keep an eye out. There is also a contradiction in the casualties now.(Lihaas (talk) 11:38, 30 June 2012 (UTC)).
Thanks...was so bred today i kept waiting to see what others added and in the process added stuff. Enjoyed the research (a la Guinea Bissau and the early days of Mali).
Sat. night and i ahvent had a drink yet ;((Lihaas (talk) 20:19, 30 June 2012 (UTC)).
Even better;)
btw- could you fix the combatants asterisks for the first 2 on the said page?(Lihaas (talk) 20:32, 30 June 2012 (UTC)).
Maybe--I'll take a look in a few minutes. Got a lot of tabs open at the moment. =) Khazar2 (talk) 20:33, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
Not sure how to solve that, unfortunately. Khazar2 (talk) 20:56, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
Me too, so many tabs open, i dont know what i had to edit ;)
btw- as an aside, just generally felt quite happy.proud of the foresight articles i created like Tawakel Karman (6 months before the nobel) and MOJWA...unfortunately the massive expanstion of STL and Guinea-Bissau dint get the coverage it deserved(Lihaas (talk) 11:59, 1 July 2012 (UTC)).
Also please see talkpage rename proposalLihaas (talk) 14:50, 1 July 2012 (UTC)
We could then also GA hthis when its doneLihaas (talk) 19:01, 1 July 2012 (UTC)
Sure--I think it's surely complete enough. I don't get involved much at GA but I'll try to pitch in if you take it there. Khazar2 (talk) 20:37, 1 July 2012 (UTC)
Along those lines, can you be a second pair of eyes? Just to check for OL , grammar, etc.
After that we could sart a GA?
Per WP:GA? quickfail #5 could be a hindrance BUT theres NO definate endpointLihaas (talk) 12:30, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
The above mentione duser has had more than a fair taling to and continues to ignore on both the battle page and the rebellion page. WHAT recurse do we have? ANI/block?Lihaas (talk) 23:32, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
I agree that Remzone's been hasty in some moves, but she/he's also new. For now I'd suggest just patience and direct contact; so far she/he seems to be abiding by 3RR, so as long as other editors are still trafficking the page, he/she shouldn't be able to override consensus editing. Khazar2 (talk) 00:23, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
Agree with you, and so far weve been quite patient with the comments on his page. However, Talk:Battle_of_Gao#Because_it_needs_to_be_said is a NPA and more. And it comes after warnings...thats a bit worrying. But so far were holdng on to see what consensus on the move is (making progress, i think). He also dint undersand the sourcing but we worked with him.
btw- i wasnt warring with you...it was (edit conflict) ;)Lihaas (talk) 18:42, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
And thanks for communicateing better ;)Lihaas (talk) 18:52, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
Just a heads up that this is repetitiously unsourced and/or unexplained/poorly explained. However, after several warnings if he refuses to adhere to discussion on either the move or otherwise, i think time has come to let an admin take a look and give him a more stern warning.Lihaas (talk) 01:12, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

Sure, your call. Khazar2 (talk) 01:16, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

Think we should move to Capture of hGao and Timbuktu.
Also Misplaced Pages:Peer review/Battle of Gao and Timbuktu/archive1, see if you can ge to some. Ill do the rest. Secon dpair of eyes is bestLihaas (talk) 16:01, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
I think it'd be better to hold off on the move until a wider consensus is found; right now there's two in favor and two against.. I wonder if the solution here might be to rename this article something like "MNLA--Ansar Dine conflict" and allow it to be a catchall for this stage of the conflict, which is basically what it's turned into anyway. Khazar2 (talk) 09:20, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
Could do tat? Whant to suggest it there?
Also  Done the peer review bit. Just one issue left, ou can check it outLihaas (talk) 11:13, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
as an aside can you mark Rajesh Khanna at ITN as ready?Lihaas (talk) 20:08, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Little Richard

Hi there,

I undid your recent AWB edit to the article mentioned in the title. Your edit summary said you were fixing typos, but you actually removed a large amount of information from references throughout the article. Please double check your AWB settings before you start it up. Regards, MacMedstalk 16:20, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

I appreciate your double-checking my work, but in this case all that happened was that the references were tagged as identical; Misplaced Pages allows references to be named so that instead of listing, say, the New York Times profile on LR five times, it can be listed once with all five occurrences directing to it. You can read more at MOS:REF, Repeated Citations. I've gone ahead and restored the condensed version for now, but if information has really disappeared that I'm not seeing, please do let me know and I'll investigate more closely. Thanks, Khazar2 (talk) 18:00, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for July 13

Hi. When you recently edited Filep Karma, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Papua (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

DYK for Abraham Samad

Updated DYK queryOn 14 July 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Abraham Samad, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Abraham Samad was the youngest ever head of the Corruption Eradication Commission when he was chosen in 2011? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Abraham Samad. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Little Miss

This is the greatest news around here: new precious life! All the best to the growing family! Kiss your two ladies gently ;) - The 14 July words "Allons enfants" carry a completely new meaning. Is her name Juillet? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:32, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

Ha! No, but we did get a kick out of the Bastille Day connection. If she had been a boy, I might have made a last minute push for being named for Woody Guthrie (100th anniversary of his birth). Thanks! Khazar2 (talk) 13:52, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! I predict a lot of one-armed editing in my immediate future. Khazar2 (talk) 14:22, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

Made up quote?

Can you please show me in which of the referenced references in your recent edit on UNRWA the quote by Brown is used? There are three references in the passage. Part of the passage you included - "The new books have removed the anti-Semitism present in the older books while they tell history from a Palestinian point of view."

I also am confused why this long paragraph is given such weight, while the previous paragraph about CMIP doesn't even contain any quotes. Furthermore, how come CMIP's response to this isn't given either (http://web.archive.org/web/20050318214051/http://www.edume.org/react/brown1.htm)? Thirdly, why are the views of a professor doing a short summary as he writes in the first reference given such heavy weight and such a long paragraph, as though they knock out what CMIP wrote in their report, and as though this is a lengthy and time-consuming research project with a lot of resources invested? Fourthly, why is Electronic Intifada referenced and used as a source of information, when just reading the article they wrote (they are not a media outlet) shows how opinionated and biased they are (which they don't hide either, the site is not founded to be neutral but rather is anti-Israel) and is clearly not an RS, and what they write should not be taken at face value. For these reasons, I would appreciate either an explanation or a revert... --Activism1234 00:06, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Please note - it's also possible this is a misunderstanding. In this diff, it seems like you added the paragraph I am talking about. Yet according to this, you removed 105 bytes. But if that whole paragraph was added, it isn't possible that bytes were removed (the only other edits there were minor punctuation)... Please clear this up for me! Thanks. --Activism1234 00:41, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
Hi Activism, Yes, this is a case where AWB simply removed a space between paragraphs, causing the second to appear as "new" material. Sorry for any confusion. Cheers, Khazar2 (talk) 01:14, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
Ok sorry if it appeared as though I blamed or accused you, that wasn't my intention. That definitely clears things up. --Activism1234 01:39, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
Not at all--Misplaced Pages needs much more double-checking of this kind! Cheers, Khazar2 (talk) 07:49, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Bu Bu Jing Xin

Hi, thank for the clean up on A Weaver on the Horizon. Can I ask a favor, of can you see if my other article Bu Bu Jing Xin needs some clean up? Thanks.--NeoBatfreak (talk) 21:04, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

I put it through AWB and didn't catch anything. Cheers, Khazar2 (talk) 21:08, 18 July 2012 (UTC)

Rev barnstar

Thanks for the barnstar. Assessments are what I like doing the most here, so both reviewer barnstars are very much appreciated. It's good to see that you and Bahraini Activist are still going strong btw. INeverCry 07:03, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks! Keep up the good work, Khazar2 (talk) 07:05, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
:) Mohamed CJ (talk) 08:41, 19 July 2012 (UTC)
I've cleared up the backlog. I'll look in on it now and then to keep it from building up again. It's amazing how many of the articles I assessed were DYK! I would guess that atleast 60 or 70%. INeverCry 19:20, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
Terrific--My watchlist has been alive with your efforts all day! Thanks again for the work, Khazar2 (talk) 20:24, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Spelling

Thanks for correcting the misspelling "jewelery" in the Louis Comfort Tiffany, however, probably inadvertantly, you changed it to the British spelling "jewellery" instead of the American spelling "jewelry". Per WP:ENGVAR, as the subject of the article is American, it is written in American English. I've corrected it now. Thanks. Beyond My Ken (talk) 01:25, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Great--thanks for letting me know, Khazar2 (talk) 02:44, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

Chipper Jones Edit

Thanks for the cleanup of the RBI ref; I wasn't sure what to do with when I saw that my ref didn't work , so I deleted it. Thanks again.

Hey, it's the least I can do for a player I like as much as Chipper Jones... but the real credit goes to the wizards behind AutoWikiBrowser, not me. Khazar2 (talk) 20:49, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for the tip; I'll start using it right away.

Wev done a good cleanup. Im burnt out now, so ill get to it later if you dont. Just finding a source for what i added and heading offLihaas (talk) 19:50, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, I agree, good progress. I'm going to try to hit the VP now Pres this evening, too. Cheers! Khazar2 (talk) 19:53, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
Mostly, VP left and other early life details. Otherwise its in remarkaly good shaped from where we picked it upLihaas (talk) 18:17, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
Yep, looking good. I've gotten side-tracked on some other things but may try to work on the new pres later this week. Pleasure working with you as always. Khazar2 (talk) 18:53, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

onboard

Hi, I see you're changing "onboard" to "on board" with automated tools. I'm curious which discussion or source didn't like "onboard". Seems okay in BritEng, and has always been okay in AmEng. - Dank (push to talk) 12:06, 28 July 2012 (UTC)

Nevermind ... I see it's not in SOED, even as an adjective. I'm fine with the change, even though it's standard in AmEng. - Dank (push to talk) 12:33, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks. My understanding per the source you quote above, too, is that "on-board" is only to be used as an attributive adjective--that is, one that immediately precedes the noun. I believe this is the reason the fix was introduced into AWB. Some false positives are still possible, though--I'm doublechecking each, but quite capable of error. So if you see one that it is an attributive adjective, please revert me. Cheers, Khazar2 (talk) 14:24, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
I'm not in favor of the hyphenated form (except attributively). I've started a discussion over at WT:SHIPS in favor of the AWB changes. Thanks for helping out! - Dank (push to talk) 15:07, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
My pleasure. I'm a new dad, so it's nice to have a minor task to do with a free hand while Little Miss Khazar sleeps in my lap. =) Khazar2 (talk) 15:12, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
Heh, it's fun how it all fits together. Hope she's a heavy sleeper. - Dank (push to talk) 15:19, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
I don't want to jinx it, but so far so good... Khazar2 (talk) 15:23, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
Great explanation you gave on Wikipedia_talk:SHIPS#Onboard! Regards, SunCreator 23:10, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks--used to be an English prof, so breaking down grammar is right in my wheelhouse... Khazar2 (talk) 00:26, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

DYK for Anaheim police shooting and protests

Updated DYK queryOn 29 July 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Anaheim police shooting and protests, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that a fatal shooting on July 22 was the sixth shooting incident in less than a year involving Anaheim, California, police officers? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Anaheim police shooting and protests. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Have a look

When you have time, could you take a look at Death of Abdulredha Buhmaid? See if you can find any POV and remove it. Thanks. Mohamed CJ (talk) 10:21, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

It looks really good to me; it's another case where the Bahraini government doesn't come out looking well, but everything is so thoroughly documented that the article still seems to me NPOV. I played with the prose a bit, feel free to revert if you feel I changed too much anywhere... nice work on this one as always-- Khazar2 (talk) 16:00, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

I have added you to Missing Wikipedians

This looks funny! How is Little Miss? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:12, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
She's great, thanks! We've been blessed with the world's least fussy baby so far, which is great because of my fibro. Half my editing these days is done with a sleeping baby in my lap.
How's everything for you? Khazar2 (talk) 18:24, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
Everything - too difficult to tell. Fine, generally speaking, see my user. I recently got more hits than ever for an article translated (partly) from here to German and shown there on the Main page, with an awesome image that will look familiar. (If you are curious, click on "how many hits".) We go for quality, just starting, --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:43, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
Congrats! I'll check it out... Khazar2 (talk) 18:46, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

AWB

Could you please stop using AWB to change the word 'onboard' to ' on board'. When used in relation to ships, onboard = aboard a ship, on board = on a board, as per the edit to 27 January on tbe January 1981 article, where I have twice reverted the AWB editing. The use of the word 'onboard' which your edit changed on tbe Amnesty International article is also correct, note the article states 'British-English is used. I have reverted a couple of others, where the wording is used in Ship related articles There are many others, so could you please go through them manually and check the usage. Richard Harvey (talk) 22:46, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

You're welcome to join the discussion here or here, but the short version is that dictionaries and newspaper searches don't seem to back that up in American or British English. Khazar2 (talk) 22:49, 31 July 2012 (UTC)
I have added my 'tuppence-worth' here. :) Richard Harvey (talk) 23:43, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

AWB, {{ibid}} and Op. cit.

Could you please stop using AWB to insert {{ibid}} tags in articles which use Op. cit. in shortened footnote citations. Op. cit. is used in an endnote or footnote to refer the reader to a previously cited work, standing in for repetition of the full title of the work. Thanks. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 03:02, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

Op. cit. is discouraged by WP:IBID, but I think you're right that it probably shouldn't be tagged. I'll pass your concerns along at WT:AWB. Cheers, Khazar2 (talk) 03:05, 1 August 2012 (UTC)
