Help with rapid deletion

I was a bit surprised to see that Emily Williams (architect) is up for rapid deletion. Seems to me she made an important contribution to women's architecture in California but I would like your opinion on this. I don't want to waste time on covering other red-linked Americans on the List of female architects if they are not worthwhile. - Ipigott (talk) 18:26, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

Seems that is now resolved. With that reference anyway I don't think should have been speedy but rather a regular DR. I would add to the lead that she mostly designed houses, one of which is currently heritage listed. It looks like a very modest building from the outside though. Probably notability is related to local history here. Otherwise, since US is far better covered than any other country, is probably not first priority in order to reduce wikibias. --ELEKHH 23:30, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
Some better photos of Williams' work can be seen here. Like other women architects of her day, Williams seems to have contributed mainly by designing interiors so as to reduce the amount of housework required. I should make this clearer in the article. Most of the other 40 or so articles I have written about female architects are indeed about non-Americans. Shortly I hope to write a top-down article on Women in architecture along the lines of Women in medicine. This should present a better general perspective of their history and current prospects. Thanks once again for your help and advice. - Ipigott (talk) 08:03, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
That sounds great. "Women in architecture" is a substantial topic! --ELEKHH 10:07, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

Women architects

Glad to see that Esther Hill was at the top of one of the DYK sections today. Another very enterprising young woman I have just come across is Anna Heringer who perhaps also deserves a DYK. It could go: "...that the young German architect Anna Heringer has contributed significantly to sustainable architecture, building hand-made schools (pictured) in Bangladesh and Morocco with local craftsmen and materials?" (There are a couple of photos in the article.) Maybe the buildings themselves also deserve separate articles? - Ipigott (talk) 10:06, 8 March 2012 (UTC)

Nice one! Nomination is here. I shortened the hook as it has to be below 200 characters and changed some of the wikilinks. There is a bit of queue as usual, but should go through this month. The METI I would say definitely would deserve an article as the Aga Khan Award is quite prestigious. A pity she hasn't released the design under a CC license, which is what the Open Architecture Network is advocating for, but the documentation provided is quite comprehensive. --ELEKHH 01:03, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your improvements. There's still plenty of time to get it up by the end of March. I'll see what I can do about writing an article on the METI but my stack of things to do seems to be steadily increasing. - Ipigott (talk) 09:29, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

DYK nomination of Anna Heringer

Hello! Your submission of Anna Heringer at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! 842U (talk) 13:58, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

I think the number of characters in the hook has been miscalculated but feel free to shorten it if necessary. I have tried to tone down the so-called "advertorial" style but do not want to depart too far from the source material. Please let me know if you think it is OK now. - Ipigott (talk) 14:52, 11 March 2012 (UTC)
Don't worry about this. It's now been given the green light. - Ipigott (talk) 21:19, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

William Burges

A note to thank you for your help. I think the article now reflects the importance of the architect although there's more to be done. Shall I remove it from the peer review page for the time being? KJP1 (talk) 22:20, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

Sure, please feel free to archive the peer-review, any help with WikiProject admin tasks is welcome! Thanks for posting it in the bulletin news and congratulations for the GA! --ELEKHH 01:20, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

Wind power article / edit warning.

Hi,

recently you gave me an edit warning over the article on wind_power, which I feel is biased. Since I edited this article, someone else has wrote in the talk page that they do agree with me. I don't know who they are, as their user name was removed when user Aflafla1 decided to strike out their comments, as he/she says the article is OK. So not only does my attempt to put the POV tag fail, but if someone agrees with me, their comments give stuck out! Would you not accept that the neutrality of the article is disputed?

This article currently has a B-rating. What would be the proceedure to try to get that changed? Would the people making the decisions on that be the current editors - if so, it would be a fruitless exercise to try, as it's clear there are a lot of pro-wind people editing that page, who would challenge strongly any attempt to get the quality rating changed. Drkirkby (talk) 14:17, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

Hello Drkirkby. I think you are misunderstanding something, as it was Aflafla1 who stroke out his/her own previous comment, so there was no attempt to suppress anyone or anything. The article quality rating can be changed by any editor following the assessment criteria. Probably in this case would be safe to discuss it first. These issues are best discussed at Talk:Wind power. If you think the spectrum of views expressed there is limited, you can invite other editors from relevant WikiProjects to provide further input. In any case, I see now you have the help of Ipigott a very experienced editor, so IMO there are good prospects for seeing the article improved. Please remember that best way forward is to address the issues, instead of accusing other editors of perceived bias or COI. --ELEKHH 22:24, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your kind remarks, Elekhh, but I see my attempts at collaboration have been "overruuled". Too bad. A rather more objective picture of wind power would have been a considerable improvement. So now back to culture again! - Ipigott (talk) 21:17, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
Sorry to bother you about wind again, Elekhh, but the latest news from the UK confirms some of my earlier concerns. There has indeed been strong opposition to onshore wind with complaints from over 100 MPs. It really looks to me as if the wind power article should reflect these concerns but I realize that additions along these lines are repeatedly removed on a series of questionable explanations. Maybe you could look at my recent additions to the talk page. I would also be interested to hear your views on the issue as you usually act in a completely unbiased way. - Ipigott (talk) 16:58, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Church of São Mateus (Calheta)

Elekhh, would you mind deleting the misleading title "Church of São Mateus (Calheta)". The article started as Church of São Mateus da Calheta and was mistakenly moved to Church of São Mateus (Calheta) by Zeorymer who has now moved it back. However as the church in Calheta is actually Santa Catarina and São Mateus is on another island in the Azores, the Church of São Mateus (Calheta) (which is still active) should be removed. If necessary, see my comments on Zeorymer's talk page. - Ipigott (talk) 16:29, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

Question

Hi, How have I engaged in sustained disruptive editing? Welshboyau11 (talk) 04:04, 2 September 2012 (UTC) Look at the sources I have found:

Welshboyau11 (talk) 04:24, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

By doing many things listed at Misplaced Pages:Disruptive editing and not following talk page guidelines, in particular POV pushing, spamming talk pages, provocations...
