The Erya (爾雅) is a Chinese dictionary from before the 1st century CE. It can also be considered as an encyclopedia on biological organisms, as it is a valuable document on historical biogeography. "Erya" literally means "progress to correctness", and has been translated as The Dictionary of Terms.
It is unknown who wrote the book, although it is traditionally attributed to Confucius.
