Jesús Huerta de Soto Ballester (born 1956) is an Austrian School economist and Professor of applied economics at Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid, Spain. He has earned two doctorates from Universidad Complutense de Madrid: law in 1984, and in Business and Economics in 1992. He graduated from Stanford University with an MBA. In 2009 the Universidad Francisco Marroquín awarded Soto an honorary doctorate.
Huerta de Soto is an adjunct scholar with the Ludwig von Mises Institute, a member of the Foundation Board of the Instituto Madrileño de Estudios Avanzados (Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies – IMDEA) Social Sciences, the Mont Pelerin Society, the editorial board of the Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics and the Society for the Study of Human Action. He also works closely with the Juan de Mariana Institute in Madrid.
