Kone

Hi, you add this source a couple of days ago, citing The Hindu of that date. The link does not work, I can find no article of that title using the paper's search engine, and it is not on the Wayback archiving system. Did you get the url wrong? Given that it is so recent, the thing will have to be removed unless we can fix this quickly because The Hindu don't usually shift things around anything like so soon after they have published a story. - Sitush (talk) 01:45, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

The article has been removed according to The Hindu website, the categories are still listed. I leave it to you, how to deal with it. Regards, --Dravidianhero (talk) 01:53, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
OH, that's a shame. I'll have another look around their website just in case they have moved it to another headline title etc. - Sitush (talk) 01:56, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

Fictive Policy??

What is so fictive about the policy that are you talking about here and here? Have you gone through the consensus? Please do so! — Abhishek  16:50, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

He cited a red link, so I thought, it might be a deleted policy. Thanks for the links. Regards, --Dravidianhero (talk) 16:57, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
Hmmm. It would have been a typo. So you should have just left him a note seeking explanation. — Abhishek  17:10, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
Mispelling in two cases seems unrealistic to be honest.--Dravidianhero (talk) 17:15, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 17

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Pi's Lullaby, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Intro (song) (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Mahesh Babu

Hello, i have seen your edits to the Mahesh Babu article. The content you have removed have citations and is not entirely useless. If you think the lead section doesn't need to specify the brand endorsements, then use that cited content and create a new section called "brand endorsements". I believe that many people would be interested in reading about his endorsement deals. Also about the Times of India survey, i don't agree with your reasoning for deleting the content. I think that TOI is very well known in India and about the survey being online, it is the most common way how such surveys are conducted. Again, if you think it's not "leadworthy", then make sure you put it somewhere in the article. I believe that deleting well cited content doesn't really help the article and for that reason i have reverted your edits. Please let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks and have a nice day. krZna (talk) 03:04, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

Hello Krzna. I saw your change by making a separate section, and I think it's the best solution. The survey is mentioned in the section 2011–present, and my point was not, that TOI has no credibility, but that the survey itself can't taken to be representative for all Indians, as they are still many Indians, who have no internet access.--Dravidianhero (talk) 09:19, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

vishwaroopam controversy

Hi, can u pls complete the DTH controversy of Vishwaroopam? The paragraph appears incomplete. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:35, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for creating an article on the film's controversies. i guess we better start expanding it to the maximum... Kailash29792 (talk) 15:50, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
Pls update the article completely. User:Snigdhasinghsweet has "accidentally" removed some info from it. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:03, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
Could you show me diffs for the same of the user. I'm a bit clueless.--Dravidianhero (talk) 15:24, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
Never mind, i think she's started fixing it. anyway, pls check for any mistakes from here onwards... BTW, the article on Controversies related to Vishwaroopam appears a bit too outdated. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 16:58, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
the ban on Vishwaroopam in malaysia has been lifted. i'd like this info to be added to both the main and controversies article as well. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:34, 23 February 2013 (UTC)

Re:professional critics

review Raja is that a professional critic? you must be kidding. critics who write for newspapers and notable sites are professional critics. If not me someone else will remove it, because such amateur reviews wont be accepted. Believe me.. Karthik Selvanayagam (talk) 19:14, 27 January 2013 (UTC)

Amateurish? Have you seen any of his reviews? He brings much more technical expertise than most of The Hindu or any other Online reviewers and the points are given per topic and are fully transparent. We all know the problem with paid news in India as well, he is surely not paid when he gives ratings. Let's have some sort of balance here and don't discriminate on basis of media platform.--Dravidianhero (talk) 19:27, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
I would like add, that he has been invited by Canadian national television too. So he is a well known international reviewer for Tamil films.--Dravidianhero (talk) 19:35, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Of course I have seen his reviews, but you cannot consider him as professional critic. that would mean that everybody could film his opinion and become a critic. sorry bro, its really not possible. it was removed from other pages too when it was added. it will definitely be removed, I didnt make the rules bro. Karthik Selvanayagam (talk) 19:44, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Galatta is one the oldest film magazines and he is associated with them on their website, infact has an own section. Why is their website blacklisted?--Dravidianhero (talk) 20:22, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
I support Galatta in being accepted by wiki as a reliable source. But I m neutral to Review Raja, though I'd prefer if he submit any written and online-published reviews as a step to become reliable. Kailash29792 (talk) 03:49, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
I like review Raja's videos, but it seems its not notable enough. maybe as Kailash said, if he wrote and published his reviews it may be accepted. I don't know why Galatta is blacklisted, I dont see anything wrong in their site. Karthik Selvanayagam (talk) 10:56, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
Ok, let us close the discussion about Review Raja, now that the majority of us accept him as unreliable. Talking abt Galatta, i think we can request for it to be de-blacklisted. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:10, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
Thanks both of you. --Dravidianhero (talk) 12:20, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
I asked for de-blacklisting referring to this discussion: Link--Dravidianhero (talk) 12:44, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

added 1 word of the critics claim of Anti Islamism / Anti Muslim, as I feel critics are on both sides, 1 stating it is anti political islam & the other being Religious islam. pls correct if u feel, this is not right (Alex.mathews (talk) 08:24, 29 January 2013 (UTC))

It appears that Galatta.com is still blacklisted. did anyone request for it to be removed from the list of blacklisted sites? Kailash29792 (talk) 08:30, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
I did. They asked me to put exclusive content such as interviews in future requests. They didn't want to whitelist regular pages at this stage.-- Dravidian  Hero  15:31, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
If you are interested, an article on the magazine Galatta Cinema can be created, for it is the "largest circulating English cinema magazine in India for South Indian movies". seeing that, wikipedia will even accept Galatta.com as reliable, for it is actually "South India’s No.1 movie portal" and it has even launched an iOS app. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:31, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

Review Raja

I think it is time an article on Review Raja be created, for he has appeared in The Hindu paper on a high note. Pls use this source: http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities/chennai/distance-language-no-barrier-for-review-raja/article4404947.ece ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 15:09, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, I will start it with joy --Dravidianhero (talk) 15:27, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
I find the article well written, although informal terms like "exotic", "kollywood", "hanging out", and "movie" can be replaced with more formal terms, or at least appear in quotations. The phrase "Review Raja was born" doesn't sound formal either. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:59, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

Ways to improve Review Raja

Hi, I'm Anne Delong. Dravidianhero, thanks for creating Review Raja!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. I've added a couple of references. You may need to adjust the page to be more encyclopedic; leaving out stories and feelings and such that fans like to read but shouldn't be in an encyclopedia. —Anne Delong (talk) 20:22, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Re: Lack of pictures

I still don't fully understand this concept of image policies on Misplaced Pages. All I can understand is that Non-free images (like film soundtrack images, posters, screenshots) cannot be used anywhere in any article except the infobox, and that images of people (to be out in infobox) are difficult to put because of in-understandable licensing issues. Notice of Dispute resolution discussion

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Misplaced Pages:Dispute resolution noticeboard regarding a content dispute in which you may have been involved. Content disputes can hold up article development, therefore we are requesting your participation to help find a resolution. The thread is "Talk page of Culture of India".

Guide for participants

If you wish to open a DR/N filing, click the "Request dispute resolution" button below this guide or go to Misplaced Pages:Dispute resolution noticeboard/request for an easy to follow, step by step request form.

What this noticeboard is:
  • It is an early step to resolve content disputes after talk page discussions have stalled. If it's something we can't help you with, or is too complex to resolve here, our volunteers will point you in the right direction.
What this noticeboard is not:
  • It is not a place to deal with the behavior of other editors. We deal with disputes about article content, not disputes about user conduct.
  • It is not a place to discuss disputes that are already under discussion at other dispute resolution forums.
  • It is not a substitute for the talk pages: the dispute must have been discussed extensively on a talk page (not just through edit summaries) before resorting to DRN.
  • It is not a court with judges or arbitrators that issue binding decisions: we focus on resolving disputes through consensus, compromise, and explanation of policy.
Things to remember:
  • Discussions should be civil, calm, concise, neutral, and objective. Comment only about the article's content, not the other editors. Participants who go off-topic or become uncivil may be asked to leave the discussion.
  • Let the other editors know about the discussion by posting {{subst:drn-notice}} on their user talk page.
  • Sign and date your posts with four tildes "~~~~".
  • If you ever need any help, ask one of our volunteers, who will help you as best as they can. You may also wish to read through the FAQ page located here and on the DR/N talkpage.

Please take a moment to review the simple guide and join the discussion. Thank you! EarwigBot 06:59, 5 March 2013 (UTC)

Thought u may be interested in editing the controversies section of Paradesi. If u aren't, never mind. i'll do it, though I'm not completely good at writing professionally. Kailash29792 (talk) 03:55, 17 March 2013 (UTC)

why did u remove the section instead of improving it? i am not scolding, i just wanted to know why the section removal. bcoz the reality teaser issue looked like an interesting issue to add. Kailash29792 (talk) 06:51, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

I have removed all mentions of moviecrow.com from article Thuppakki, as it appears unreliable. do u hav any reply for this? Kailash29792 (talk) 05:05, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

If u still believe it is reliable, pls ask senior editors. I only say its unreliable bcoz it neither has an article on wiki, nor are the news sources well written. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:37, 19 March 2013 (UTC)

Galatta

Did u know that a website's article on Misplaced Pages establishes its notability? Well, let us not count IMDB, Facebook, YouTube and other socializing sites, but if an article on Galatta is created, that will even have it removed from its blacklisted status. In fact, if anyone created an article on it, I'd like them to say it exists as a magazine named Galatta Cinema (claimed to be the "largest circulating English cinema magazine in India for South Indian movies") and as Galatta.com (claimed to be "South India’s No.1 movie portal"). Another fact that establishes its notability is that it has even launched an official app for Android and iOS. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 14:23, 15 April 2013 (UTC)

The notability is clearly established, but the whitelist admins didn't find it relevant enough. I told them the situation, but they unilaterally decided to leave the site blocked, until we make use of their exclusive content. But most interviews are in video format only, quite unsuitable for our standards in wikipedia.-- Dravidian  Hero  14:59, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
Butting in, reached here quite serendipitously, we can cite videos, if they are from reliable sources, for example we can cite Zee News, etc. Yogesh Khandke (talk) 14:27, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
Thanks alot for this highly valuable suggestion Yogesh. I guess, you arrived here by the Kwamigami case on Talk:Dravidian languages#Recent changes. I would appreciate your input there as well. Am I correct in my thinking, that Kwamis conduct is a general problem on wikipedia? Once again, thank you very much!-- Dravidian  Hero  16:28, 1 May 2013 (UTC)
(You are right about how I landed here, AN/I is on my watchlist). I've been on the opposite side of Kwami in the Ganga v/s Ganges argument, and perhaps a few more where I was exasperated by his intransigence, however at one place (I think at ANI) I've stated that despite being an admin Kwami didn't use his admin powers to browbeat opposition (me) in an argument, I don't I would say that Kwami or anyone is a general problem, Misplaced Pages is big and there is opportunity for everyone to be useful. I am sorry if I my reply is not to your liking. Yogesh Khandke (talk) 14:10, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
Why did he lose admin rights then?-- Dravidian  Hero  14:26, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
That is news to me, you see I am like the proverbial blind man, I held the elephant's tail and said that he is like a rope. Yogesh Khandke (talk) 14:30, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

These reliable sources mention both Galatta the magazine and Galatta.com in high light, and that clearly establishes notability of Galatta overall i think. the sources are listed as follows:

Courtesy, Kailash29792 (talk) 15:24, 3 May 2013 (UTC)

Also I'm under a topic ban wrt Indian history broadly construed, so I may not be able to contribute to the discussion. Yogesh Khandke (talk) 06:22, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

It looks like Galatta has been removed from blacklist? -- Dravidian  Hero  23:04, 4 May 2013 (UTC)

No, it has not been removed yet. Contacting an admin and showing him the above sources may settle the matter. BTW, the last quote in Parasakthi article is unsourced, and this line "The film also had its share in giving the DMK the necessary stimulus to overthrow the Congress party in Tamil Nadu", its page in the R. descriptors in section headings

It is my position that descriptors in the section headings are violation Original Research with Misplaced Pages editors making a determination that 20XX-20YY were a "Breakthrough" or "Setback" if there is not a reliable source quoted in the article describing the period as such, so WP:ORN would probably be the best place. (it could also be argued that descriptors applied by editors without sources are POV so i wouldnt be opposed to WP:NPOVN)-- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 21:23, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Neram first look poster.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Neram first look poster.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:21, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Gouravam poster

Hi. I am Pavan Jandhyala, who discussed with you regarding the merging of Naan Ee with Eega in the past. I recently observed that the poster you uploaded for the 2013 Bilingual Gouravam is bearing a tamil title. Though all the stars are of tamil origin, it is better to upload a poster bearing an english title, as it would give a universal impact and can be easily approached by both Tamil and Telugu audience. Please reply soon about your feelings regarding my message to you today. Thank you.Pavanjandhyala (talk) 13:01, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi Pavanjandhyala. First I wanted to ensure, that there is a poster in an Indian script, and secondly we can't be sure that we always get Roman alphabet posters. I don't like the idea of Roman alphabet posters at all to be honest. I also thought of including both language posters in the box, but this would require additional work. What you think?-- Dravidian  Hero  13:21, 18 April 2013 (UTC)
It defenitely needs. But i can do it. Select a poster of your choice in Tamil. I already uploaded a poster for this movie in Telugu Misplaced Pages. i am giving the link below.

link : http://te.wikipedia.org/%E0%B0%A6%E0%B0%B8%E0%B1%8D%E0%B0%A4%E0%B1%8D%E0%B0%B0%E0%B0%82:Gouravam_poster.jpg

if you like it, give a link of the Tamil poster and i will develop it. Thank you.Pavanjandhyala (talk) 14:06, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Please use the present EN poster. Make sure the Tamil poster is in first place, then Telugu at the bottom, since there is the problem with the width of the infobox.-- Dravidian  Hero  14:13, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Alright. But i will keep Tamil Left and Telugu Right. Or else, the whole image would be longer than necessary, thus being a bit odd. Thank you.Pavanjandhyala (talk) 14:18, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

I fear the width will really blow up the box, but let's see.-- Dravidian  Hero  14:26, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

I did the changes. Please visit the page once.Pavanjandhyala (talk) 14:30, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

as mentioned, it has a too blown up width. please try the top-bottom case.-- Dravidian  Hero  14:36, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Alright. I did the changes you prescribed. Check it.Pavanjandhyala (talk) 14:40, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

change the width to 250 pixels. It should look ok.-- Dravidian  Hero  14:44, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

The image's present resolution is 88x240. If i change it to 250px, it would be of 91x250. Will it be comfortable.Pavanjandhyala (talk) 14:46, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

You would increase height with 91x250. I mean 250x__ or 220x__-- Dravidian  Hero  14:49, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

In that case, 220x600 is the resolution that would appear finally, and i did it. But things didnt go favourably well. Check it.Pavanjandhyala (talk) 14:56, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

ok, let's try 160x-- Dravidian  Hero  14:59, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

A Bit better than the previous. Check it.Pavanjandhyala (talk) 15:05, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

It looks perfect on my Display. It could be 5-10 px wider.-- Dravidian  Hero  15:14, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Then lets stick to this. Thanks for your co-operation.Pavanjandhyala (talk) 15:55, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Thanks to you for the work. I'll take care for the rest, when I am in the mood to do so ;) http://en.wikipedia.org/Category:South_Indian-language_films I guess we have a 160px standard now, which is good-- Dravidian  Hero  16:00, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

An English poster could have done to give balance to the bilingual film, and there was already one, which was removed. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:34, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Robert Caldwell

Thanks for your message. I saw the reverts which you did to almost all of my edits to Robert Caldwell. Please explain the reason for each of your reverts on the talk page. I understand that Subramaniam Swami is not liked among the so called Dravidian political circles in TN but Misplaced Pages is about facts not opinions. Other references could have been provided if Mr Swami's article was not of your liking but whole sale revers were not warranted. Your revert of Dr. R. Nagaswamy and his book "Mirror of Tamil and Sanskrit". Which had all the citation was clearly unwarranted. I also challenge your labeling of my edits as original research. Kindly provide reasons for each and every revert on the talk page of Robert Caldwell which I have created for my edits titled "Balancing the Article with All views about Robert Caldwell".Indoscope (talk) 18:52, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Isn't it old news that she was married to a man named Ashwin, because of which she is publicly known as Soundarya R. Ashwin? Even the posters of Kochadaiyaan show her name as the same. So pls tell me if the page can be moved or not. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:25, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

Melayu Kingdom

Hello Dravidianhero,

Your recent edit to the page Melayu Kingdom appears to have added incorrect information, so I have removed it for now. If you believe the information was correct, please cite a reliable source or discuss your change on the article's talk page. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Dravidian Hero 10:33, 5 May 2013 (UTC).

In fact ther is no reliable source proving that "the term "Melayu" is derived from the Tamil etymons Malai and ur, meaning "mountain" and "city, land", respectively". No linguist would support such an assertion. "Melayu" is a local, i. e. Sumatran name, that's it. To have recourse to a Tamil etymology amounts to "chercher midi à quatorze heure" as we say in French, "to look for noon at 2 pm". There is no evidence of Tamil having any influence in Sumatra. All that has been found so far is a Tamil inscription in Barus, on the western coast of Sumatra, dated 1088 AD left by merchants , which of course cannot be regarded as a proof of Tamil influence in Sumatra. This is why I call this claim of a Tamil etymology "Tamil nationalism" :-) Humboldt 11:21, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Fair enough. But Ms Weighman is a geographer, not a linguist, nor an historian, archaeologist or anthropologist. I don't know about the Indian gentlemen. However, the world of academia is full of recognised specialists of the Malay World, Southeast Asia and the Austronesian world : K. Alexander Adelaar, Peter Bellwood, Robert Blust, Denys Lombard, Anthony Reid, M. C. Ricklefs, O. W. Wolters, to name a few. To my knowledge, and I am currently doing research on Indonesia, none of them ever hinted that the name "Melayu" comes from Tamil. Anyway, I don't care: either Misplaced Pages can become a reliable source of knowledge, or people let it become a kind of potluck where they find what they bring. I am not going to fight on that front. As a researcher, I prefer to concentrate on my own work... :-) Humboldt 13:07, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
A geographer should know, why places are named as such.

Certainly not. A geographer knows place names, that's it. You need a linguist to know where the name comes from, and an historian to know when the place was named, and why.

I agree wikipedia needs a lot of improvements, but be frank, you were not an improver either.-- Dravidian Hero 13:11, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

You're right. I was a reaction of irritation to a proliferation of Tamil-biased mentions I see in an number of Misplaced Pages articles regarding the Malay World, and also in various sites, for example this one: "Hindu Wonders in a Muslim Country!", the title of which itself is wrong, because Indonesia is not a "Muslim country" but a country which happens to have a Muslim majority. It has Garuda Indonesia as its flag-carrier because the country's culture borrowed a lot from India and an Indonesian Red Cross, not Red Crescent...Humboldt 16:29, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

I see no such thing in wikipedia.

There are, for example Tamil place names in Malaysia (which you have reverted) and Chola dynasty and its incredible map claiming sovereignty over the Malacca Peninsula, Borneo, Java and Sumatra, just because in 1025 AD a Chola fleet attacked Sriwijaya, which was not an "empire" as the article claims but a city of 30,000 to 50,000 inhabitants today called Palembang .

Most people are decent.

I have no doubt about that! :-)

Thank you for the tip.

Hope you contribute more on Malay topics.

To be honest, I'm tired with two other nationalisms, Indonesian and Malaysian. Correcting the non-sense many Indonesians (my parents are Indonesians) and Malaysians write in Misplaced Pages is an uphill battle which I have given up fighting. I have even given up doing it in the Indonesian Misplaced Pages! This is why I limit myself to contributing to the French Misplaced Pages, where you won't find Indonesian and Malaysian nationalists... :-)

Do you have any special interests?-- Dravidian Hero 17:38, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

I work within a team of French researchers whose interest is in understanding national cultures through the functioning of organisations. In a way, what we do is an anthropology of modern societies. Thank you for the discussion, --Humboldt 18:12, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Malay supremacy

I know, what you mean. Tbere is a Malaysian guy, who is per self description on his userpage a "Malay supremacist". Could you explain to me, what's the reason for such thinking among Malays? I'm an Indian and I have never seen a supremacist in this form, besides "religious" fanatics.

First of all, a distinction should be made between "Malay" and "Malaysian". As I understand it, a Malay is somebody whose native tongue is one of the various forms of the Malay language, basically the inhabitants of the southernmost provinces of Thailand, the Peninsula of Malacca, the eastern coast of Sumatra and the coastal regions of Borneo. So you have Malays in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei. A Malaysian is a citizen of the country called Malaysia, where you have, besides Malays, various other indigenous groups, Chinese and Indians. Because the Chinese and Indians are descendants of people who came to present Malaysia during the 19th century in the times of British colonial rule, Malay nationalists considered that they should not have the same rights as the Malays who coined the term Bumiputera, from the Sanskrit words bhumi, "land" and putra, "son" (which, you will notice, is an amusing paradox). Hence the expression Ketuanan Melayu, which means roughly "Malay lordship". This apartheid-like ideology is in stark contrast to the Indonesian conception of the nation, which since the end of the Soeharto regime no longer makes a distinction between "indigenous" and "non-indigenous" Indonesians. Malaysia has as a legacy the British conception of the nation, within which one distinguishes "communities", while Indonesia has adopted the French conception of the nation, which French historian Ernest Renan defines as a group of people "united by the desire to live together". Back to Malaysia, even the other "indigenous" groups, who are Christians or animists, seem to have a lower status since the state religion of Malaysia is Islam. In Indonesia, there is no reference to Islam in the constitution (this is why it is not a "Muslim country"), --Humboldt 21:11, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

I see now. So the problem is the bhumiputra policy, thanks!-- Dravidian Hero 22:30, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Actually the problem is a "racist" conception of the nation, where some citizens, the Malays, are regarded as having more rights than others. The Bumiputera policy is just a consequence of this conception,--Humboldt 06:50, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

Some doubt

Hello Dravidianhero, I do have a couple of questions that you only can answer. First, why did you label certain films as "South Indian films" instead of just Indian films. That actually sounds racist, doesn't it? (and your username is no help either, it further supports my suspicion). That definitely should be changed. And then what exactly was the point of this edit? Johannes003 (talk) 15:10, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

A film made in India is an Indian film, irrespective of its language or region, additionally the language may be added (I used to write "...is an Indian Tamil/Telugu/Hindi film...", which IMO is perfect!), but I don't feel it's right to separate films by regions. South India is part of India too and a Sound Indian film is as much a part of the Indian film industry as a North Indian film, why further distinguish it? Yes, I think this needs to be talked about and a different solution has to be found. Did the Indian cinema task force allow you to do that? (I didn't go through the archives, so I don't know) And don't add spaces after references, neither MOS:REFSPACE nor MOS:PUNCTSPACE does say that. In fact, per WP:WHITE there should be as little whitespace as possible. If you use a gadget to edit the page, the white spaces will be automatically removed. Johannes003 (talk) 18:21, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
I'm just understanding that you do this for bilingual films only. Then just call it Indian film (without the addition of language), why has it to be further distinguished. Then how would you call Vishwaroopam, a Tamil-Hindi bilingual? At Naan E's page you suggested this change, but I don't see that anyone else agreed with you, in fact nobody other than you even mentioned the word "South", that's not a consensus. And what is it political about that? And then what about this edit? Just because something is sourced, it doesn't mean that it is important too. I found terms like "a visually scintillating yet emotional", that is not one bit encyclopedical and even worse was not even sourced. Claims like "This was done to maintain continuity in Dhanush's appearance in the African schedule portions of the film" are pure WP:OR. I know what I'm doing, I have not removed one relevant sentence from the page. I request you not to undo edits with one click! Johannes003 (talk) 14:15, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
I have a feeling that we're talking past each other. I don't mind whether Paradesi is called an Indian, a Tamil or an Indian Tamil film (at the moment it's being called just a film, btw, but that's not the point anyway!), all three forms are alright, but I would object to it being called a "South" Indian film. All I'm asking is why this unneeded accentuation? Does it make you, Dravidian, feel more proud? You're just beating around the bush ("I request you to present content solely per WP:NPOV, not per your personal likings" - what content dude?). Reg. Maryan, check the talk page, that should make things clear. Johannes003 (talk) 11:37, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
Ha ha, I'm against the South Indian film industry? What makes you think so? Did I ever say so? Would you please stop assuming things? I have almost exclusively worked on South Indian film articles. In fact, I hate it that people outside of India equate Indian cinema with Bollywood and neglect the regional industries. Per WP:FILMLEAD, "If the film's nationality is singularly defined, it should be identified in the opening sentence". The film's nationality is singularly defined, namely Indian, so it is an Indian film, that's all, nothing more, nothing less. Since there are many languages in India, the language too is added often, but why a region? It's just wrong! It baffles me that you are even defending this. Who accuses who of being biased? This is not just a "personal problem", man. Many editors will object to this. And who has accepted this? I think, this topic should be discussed at the Indian cinema task force, because I strongly feel that this is a no-go. Johannes003 (talk) 23:15, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
Wait, did you really say that Bollywood has all the rights to be called Indian cinema, other industries don't? Wow, now I have a very clear conception of you. Don't let anyone else ever read this! Inferiority complex? How? Dude, don't just haphazardly throw some random words at me! You said, "We are all Indians regardless what language we speak or which language is "biggest"" - Point, exactly that! Absolutely exactly that! North, South, West or East, doesn't matter, it's all Indian, that is what I'm saying. So you agree with me, aren't you? Are you realizing that you are starting to contradict yourself now? And WP:FILMLEAD does very well state that the nationality (nationality is the adjective used for a country, you should now that!) should be in the lead. But add the region, nobody ever said that. Nobody ever will say that. Johannes003 (talk) 17:26, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

Would you please stop reverting? No guideline in wikipedia says that a "film industry" should be added to the lead text. You have not replied to me after the discussion, even after so long time. That means it's over here. Johannes003 (talk) 12:03, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

I said STOP IT! Reply to me first, man! You did not reply me, that means you agree that my view is correct, that IS consensus!! Do revert back your edits yourself immediately. Heights!! Johannes003 (talk) 12:09, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
You have not replied, you have remained silent. That means you have agreed, boy! If you cannot accept rules, you have nothing to do here at Misplaced Pages. This is absolutely outrageous! Johannes003 (talk) 12:15, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

Maryan

There is no point in changing OST covers unless it is bound to some terms. Non-free images must be used as little as possible. The cover uploaded earlier is same as that on the Official Website of A.R. Rahman which is the most ultimate verified source. What you uploaded is some special offer based (may be EP) or some other form of edition of the same film soundtrack. Moreover it isn't square as album arts usually of that shape. They may be slightly in disproportion with size-ratio. It is not wrong what you did but its not necessary.
Arjann (talk) 15:23, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

hehe... :) yeah thats 3.5/5. Didn't realize, I just did it accidently. Sorry.
Arjann (talk) 12:56, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

Interested?

Since u edited Parasakthi (1952 film) very well and it is almost complete, I wanted to know if u were interested in taking part in the film's peer review. Kailash29792 (talk) 11:44, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

I'm afraid that I'm not familiar enough with all the WP policies, guidelines, etc.. there are so many. For me it's an excellent article. :p -- Dravidian  Hero  12:00, 13 May 2013 (UTC)
Taking part in a peer review is simple. After making a thorough analysis of the article, suggest any improvements on the peer review page - that's how it works. But if u r not ready, never mind. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:05, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

Kochadaiyaan

I had made some changes on Kochadaiyaan as per the guide lines and updated the news in the release section. Can you kindly check that for any possible violations.Benedictdilton (talk) 18:58, 13 May 2013 (UTC)

Classic Incantations

Hi :) I've created a page named Classic Incantations: The German Film Orchestra Babelsberg performs A.R. Rahman. If you think there must be changes or some additions/deletions/suggestions you may do so.
Arjann (talk) 09:37, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, I'll take a look at it.-- Dravidian  Hero  13:10, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

Thuppakki

A peer review is going on. U want to take part? Kailash29792 (talk) 11:07, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

I could take part in the discussion, but I hardly see me as a qualified reviewer yet.-- Dravidian  Hero  13:10, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

Sock Puppet

I found out the reason which triggered such an investigation. It was a minor ignorance from the side of mine. I had made my side clear on the investigation page. The account that created the problem was created by a friend of mine who had done some edits on wiki earlier some times we share the same computer and ISP. Please check and let me know whether I had to provide more evidence or some thing like that.Benedictdilton (talk) 22:51, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

I had posted a reply on the investigation page. I request your help in getting out of this trouble.Benedictdilton (talk) 23:33, 14 May 2013 (UTC)

I had made my mind. I am quitting wikipedia. I would like to delete all contents on this account. I had put a request to delete my user page. I want to delete my talk page as well. Dont know how to do it . Request help in that.Benedictdilton (talk) 19:05, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

Vandal?

With reference to Melayu Kingdom, one does not place generic boiler templates on long-established, highly productive, good faith editors. One does not accuse them of vandalism. Further, you have no authority to threaten, let alone impose, a block. If you disagree with an editor, then you should use the article’s talk page to discuss and try to reach agreement. I see you are relatively new to wikipedia, and may not yet be used the sites norms. I hope this helps. Regards --Merbabu (talk) 03:21, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

Saying "With all due respect" really means you're not giving any respect. My comments above still stand. They about process and have nothing to do with whatever stupid little nationalist/ethnic (Mr "hero"?) games you editors might be playing. I don't care about them. I'm talking about your apparent problem with wikipedia process. It's about time you all used the talk page and quit reverting each other, or I will request the page gets protected. And it might be the wrong version. --Merbabu (talk) 12:28, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

Warning and Vandalism?

I see you have posted warning sign in my talk page that I have disrupt Misplaced Pages on Melayu Kingdom article. This is my first warning on vandalism. What did I do? Is this a warning or a threat? I see you quite new in wikipedia, let me enlighten you, this is not how we roll here in wikipedia, we conduct disagreement in civilized and mutual respect, also assuming good faith of fellow editors. I don't mean to putting finger here, but I see judging from your edits, I began to doubt your sincerity on editing wikipedia in non-biased way, since you seems to somehow pushing Tamil Nationalism agenda, through over-crediting "Tamil influence and cultural contribution" to Southeast Asian history. You see.., a sign of chauvinism and cultural over-pride and one sided claims, will quickly raised red flag by other editors that also watching the article. Ancient Indonesia did influenced by Indian Dharmic Hindu-Buddhist civilization, however as far as I know from books I've red, most of cultural imports are through sanskrit language as sacred language of Hinduism, Pali also influenced through Buddhism sacred texts. Tamil language influences also exist but minimal and only few as found in Barus inscription. The term "Malaya" is also can be found in sanskrit that means from "garden", "sandalwood", "mountains", "something elevated" thus denote mountains, so there are many suggestions on the etymology of the term "Malay". You simply can not (and may not) push and force your version, and went as far discouraging other editors to edit and contribute. As Indonesian, Melayu Kingdom article has cultural proximity for me and naturally it is under my watch. I can not let it fell into, suspected Tamil nationalist agendas and claims. I hope you understand our rules and etiquette here, regards.Gunkarta (talk) 06:08, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

WP-RS

I am providing you with a piece of news and websites which publish the same news kindly tell me which one is reliable and which one is not and why.

All the above websites have the same news with same words as published in southmonitor.com . Please tell me the difference. Benedictdilton (talk) 21:10, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

There are some hints, how to identify RS. Check for example WP:USEBYOTHERS -- Dravidian  Hero  11:15, 17 May 2013 (UTC)

Maryan...

Hey, I'm working on it (Maryan) again. See now you observe why did i create a separate section for Reception in the soundtrack part. It has become so lengthy. You understand well but that guy Johannes he thinks everything is trivia. Whatever I write I ensure its neutral which is required. Hope you support

Karnan

The Sivaji Ganesan film which was released in 1963 and re-released digitally in 2012 is currently a GA. But one important section - the soundtrack section is still too short of content. I have however found one page which can help expand the soundtrack section to the max. The forum site contains max info from an article titled "The Little-Known Music Of `Karnan'" which was published in Sruti magazine in 2001. Since u r very generous, are u able to add content from that site? Bcoz I m going out of station for few days. Kailash29792 (talk) 10:49, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

stop giving me blood pressure

then why dont u split the two articles eega and naani???? why on earth u merge the articles and fight for images ??? Murrallli (talk) 14:06, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Problem is solved. Some uninvolved people had deleted the previous image without knowing basics. There is only 1 article, because the content is mostly the same, decided at Talk:Naan Ee.-- Dravidian  Hero  14:19, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Eega poster

Dear Dravidian,

Admin's are there to decide whether to keep the image or to delete it. We can't do anything against admin's. Because i too felt that previous image file deletion was unjustified. Um!!! but we are unable to decide, because we are not admin's know!. So please don't revert my upload in that File. Wait for the Consensus to be given by some admin (or) nominate it in WP:DRV according to the said by Stefan 2 in that FFD. I hope you can understand by this. Happy day and editing :) Raghusri (talk) 10:08, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
