EMI

Why did you revert my change to EMI? I saw a just-released CD in the store today that clearly said, “EMI Records Nashville, a Universal Music Company.” It also had a Universal Music UPC and catalogue number. I think that the article should reflect this. Peace. —MuzikJunky (talk) 06:33, 1 November 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, I meant to leave an edit summary. If it is not mentioned in the article it needs a reliable source, so it can be verified. STATic message me! 06:37, 1 November 2013 (UTC)

MMLP2 2

Do you see I was right now? The credit were edited and I WAS right about the bounus tracks and Sid Roams. --Orr971 (talk) 12:29, 1 November 2013 (UTC)

Alma mater

First of all, knowledge of the subject isn't essential to understand that when one is a YouTube channel owner, one is not directly employed by Google or YouTube, and there is no indication that he works for either of them. Second of all right from our own dab page on it, "Alma mater is Latin for "nourishing mother". In many modern languages it is principally heard as a term of academia. It may also refer to the school or college from which an individual has graduated or which they have attended." Clearly the more usual usage is "from which an individual has graduated." Therefore, at the very least, it should be clarified. MSJapan (talk) 15:22, 1 November 2013 (UTC)

Nicki Minaj Discography

Why did you add 'Clappers' as a single when it is NOT!!! It was NOT sent to radio regardless of what 'The Gifted' Article says and if so please cite where on my talk page. JACUBANHELADO (talk) 19:01, 1 November 2013 (UTC)

It is clearly cited in The Gifted article. WP:CHILL out. STATic message me! 20:43, 1 November 2013 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Good Kid, M.A.A.D City

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Good Kid, M.A.A.D City you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of WikiRedactor -- WikiRedactor (talk) 19:51, 1 November 2013 (UTC)

The Marshall Mathers LP 2

I did notice that it was a user review, but the review wasn't removed properly, and it left an incomplete section. I told the user that the error had happened, and I was in the process of fixing it. Cheers, C(u)w(t)C(c) 20:44, 1 November 2013 (UTC).

BDS

The BDS radio charts, to my knowledge, track the amount of weekly plays and radio adds a song receives. I wouldn't call them a 100% solid indicator of an official release date, however—any song which receives a noticeable amount of urban airplay can chart on BDS, regardless of whether they were officially serviced by the label or not. I have noticed, though, that the "Urban Most Added" section often includes singles recently released to urban radio. So while those charts are sometimes a good indicator of which songs were probably released to radio, I'd check for an official radio add date or a source directly stating that it was released to radio before making all the necessary edits. I'll also note that I've noticed that there are some radio add dates which Frequency News/FMQB/All Access/etc. fail to mention—the impact date for Kanye West's "Black Skinhead", to my knowledge, never got posted by any of the sources I mentioned, and was only revealed in a Billboard article; I actually wouldn't be surprised if "Bound 2" has already been serviced. Hope this helped. Holiday56 (talk) 06:08, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

Abuse

Can I get your definition of "abuse"? Way to passive aggressively attack me via the template on my page. :) WP:MASTODONS WP:KEEPCOOL teratogen (talk) 17:10, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

@Jmeeter: I'm guessing that StaticVapor was just as confused as I was about this warning you gave to him and decided to leave you a message about it. As to the warning: which edit did you see as a joke edit? I didn't see one. —C.Fred (talk) 17:20, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
@C.Fred: The edit I made was in reference to a line which I read, which was actually a quote from a reviewer. I read it mid-sentence and didn't realize it was a quote. yes that was a mistake on my part but calling me out for "abuse" is a bit pretentious and uncalled for. A simple "Hey, I think you made a mistake.." would have sufficed. teratogen (talk) 17:25, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
Yeah I created the article, I do not think I would be making a joke of it. Next time pay attention to what you are reading before templating a regular, especially if it is a direct quote. I had no idea adding professional reviewers opinion would be adding a "joke" to the article.STATic message me! 17:49, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
@STATicVapor: Again, you're missing the point. I read the line out of context and thought someone wrote a line in there referring to the song as "skippable drone" as a joke. As I already mentioned, it was an accident on my part. But calling me out for abuse doesn't help anyone. As policy state, please don't bite the newcomers. teratogen (talk) 17:53, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

Not a offical Mixtape? chevy woods was a Featured artist

explain the difference, please? it's a Coast to Coast Mixtape hosted by Too Short sponsored by Too Short as well so if you could explain the difference it would help a lot. do these two NOT get along? thanx(Yameka (talk) 21:53, 4 November 2013 (UTC))

DatPiff marks "official mixtapes" with a banner as you can see if you see here and here. That mixtape is just an unofficial compilation of various tracks made by some not notable DJs, the only affiliation Too Short has with it is him hosting it, it is not like it is an official mixtape by Too Short. STATic message me! 21:58, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

So I'm Asking is Coast to Coast vol. 244 hosted by Too Short is Unofficial so its nobodys Mixtape? a Fake? & Unofficial?

so this is the original link before submitted it seems highly supported....dat piff

http://coast2coastmixtapes.com/mixtapes/mixtapedetail.aspx/coast-2-coast-mixtape-vol-244-hosted-by-too-short (Yameka (talk) 22:09, 4 November 2013 (UTC))

Again, its just a random unofficial mixtape made by a not notable DJ, its an unofficial compilation of random artists tracks, which they may have or may not even be involved with having on the mixtape, more than likely not. Frankly just making a guest appearance on a mixtape is not worth mentioning in a biography, unless the mixtape is notable enough for its own article. STATic message me! 22:23, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

Wade Barrett

Hi ! Sorry, if I'm not in the right place to write. I'm new on Misplaced Pages and English is not my native langage. I didn't find a mailbox to send you my question. So, Why did you delete my writes on Wade Barrett " He is in relationship with Alicia Fox since 2010" It's the truth, Wade Barrett talked about it, I added a reference and there are photos of them together. Sorry again, if I wrote in the wrong place.Mllepan (talk) 00:22, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

It needs a reliable source, especially since it is BLP information. The source(s) you provided must not have been reliable. You can find examples of reliable sources at WP:PW. STATic message me! 00:30, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

Gucci Mane

Sorry dude - i have the ultimate NPOV - i had never heard of the guy til i read the article. The edits are entirely consistent with NPOV "Editing from a neutral point of view (NPOV) means representing fairly, proportionately, and, as far as possible, without bias, all of the significant views that have been published by reliable sources on a topic" You are removing all negative view from the LEAD WP:LEAD "The lead should be able to stand alone as a concise overview. It should define the topic, establish context, explain why the topic is notable, and summarize the most important points—including any prominent controversies. " Note you are deliberately removing the prominent controversies from the WP:LEAD WP:BLP "Criticism and praise should be included if they can be sourced to reliable secondary sources, so long as the material is presented responsibly, conservatively, and in a disinterested tone. Do not give disproportionate space to particular viewpoints; the views of tiny minorities should not be included at all. Care must be taken with article structure to ensure the overall presentation and section headings are broadly neutral."

YOU ARE REMOVING THE NEUTRALITY OF THE INTRO AND ITS ABILITY TO STAND ALONE AS A SUMMARY! I dont give a rats ass about this guy, who he is, what he does. I saw a t-shirt on sale and googled to see if I wanted it. I read the article, saw the lack of consistency with WP:LEAD as far as summary of the article. as WP:LEAD says "The lead is the first part of the article most people read, and many read only the lead." if the relied on the prior version the would only see his fame as a rapper, not his notable *according to the article) infamy as a criminal and notable disputes with former collaborators. Either it belongs in the lead, or it doesnt belong in the article, one or the other - either remove all the controversy stuff as non-notable or nonNPOV, ot it belongs in the intro according to WP:LEAD Mycosys (talk) 04:01, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

BTW I can tell you're a fan and I am sorry you dont like seeing a an artist you like being portrayed that way, but being neutral means wars and all, not just the pretty view, ans I am sorry if that sucks for you (sincerely). I am a former promoter, lighting & sound guy, VJ, festival organiser and technician. I have worked with names as big as the Prodigy and the Mad Professor. I have MUCH love for spoken word and Rap, They have featured prominently in our festivals. My first 5 night a week gig was in an R&B club. No hate, ok brother. Mycosys (talk) 04:01, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

Edit #3 - I am also a cripple, all I type to you hurts - so many words means i respect you, ok Mycosys (talk) 04:01, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

Again violates WP:LEAD and WP:BLP, the exact negative words you are using are not mentioned anywhere in the article, if you knew nothing about the artist you would not be disruptively making these changes. Also if you know nothing of the subject, you should not be making changes to the lead without discussing it on the talk page. His major legal issue is already mentioned in the lead, and he is not well known for having disputes with former collaborators. It is not a rare thing to have a few in the rap world. To be honest, I cannot stand Gucci Mane, I would take Prodigy over him every single day of the week, the page is just a frequently highly viewed page, so as with every major hip hop BLP I keep an eye on it for vandalism and other issues. STATic message me! 05:17, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

I really had never heard of him - I have since of course done my research. I spoke to another editor on IRC, the second para doesnt belong -too specific. I know we should move this to article talk but would hurt. would you be cool with replacing it with "Based since adolescence in Atlanta, Georgia, Gucci has a notable history of violence, drugs and weapon charges in frequent encounters with law enforcement - some resulting in incarceration. Like many other rap artists he has been known to 'come at' other artists in lyrics and public statements, one such encounter allegedly leading to an abortive attempt to rob him, after which he was charged with murder, later dismissed as self defence. His latest incarcerations have been over parole violations after drug and weapons charges." I have found an beautiful bio (it really is a beautifully well written piece) which has some comments by him on growing up tough particularly, implying gang violence from a young age as a necessity: http://www.artistdirect.com/artist/bio/gucci-mane/3228134 “I’m from East Atlanta Zone Six; it was hard, man, it was real rough. I grew up in the Starter jacket era: they’d take your Starter jacket, your 8Ball jacket, they’d take your hat, your shoes. It was just no holds barred on the streets, dog eat dog. If you missed the bus, you had to be crewed up or you’d get jumped. It was wild when I came up.” which probably deserves referencing as do a number of Washington times links http://www.washingtontimes.com/topics/gucci-mane/ as more reliable references on his charges and incarceration. I truly was trying to make the intro more consistent with WP:LEAD - it currently missed virtually all the controversy he is clearly renowned for, half of the contents of the article. I think the above paragraph summarises the second half of the article pretty well, rather than just one incident (whose specifics really dont belong in the lead but in the body). Would you mind saying hi on freenode? you seem like somebody i would like - pretty lonely stuck on a couch after spending your life backstage :) Mycosys (talk) 06:11, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

I now see you were trying to improve the article, from a new user you never know, but the way you wrote the article made him seem like more of a criminal and negative figure, rather then a rapper. Maybe some points of his recent major legal issues can be mentioned in the lead, but the negative puff you added to the lead definitely does not follow WP:LEAD and WP:BLP policy. Some of the other things such as disputes with other rappers and run-ins with police can be mentioned in the article, 80% of rappers have verbal fights with other rappers and have run-ins with the law. STATic message me! 06:25, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

I would not have called over 2 years new, but thats just me I suppose. I read a lot and try to clean up when i see something amiss. What would you suggest? What I have written is a factual summation of the legal and controversy sections in as breif a form as i can manage. The fact that according to the article he was charged with murder after friends of a former collaborator followed that former collaborators suggestion in his lyrics and attempted to rob him, after a series of public outbursts directed at each other and that a man died as a result seems to make the whole 'coming at' thing pretty damn significant and worth including. His criminal record is for drugs, weapons and violence and he has been incarcerated multiple times, so that should be there. Where he lived most of his life is very significant to the part of rap culture he is in, so has to be there. In fact I cant find a single negative word there, just cold hard impassioned fact. Have a go at including all the things I did without sounding negative, because I have REALLY tried. Mycosys (talk) 07:17, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

Placed Talk:Gucci_Mane#Intro_and_sources suggestion on talk page — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mycosys (talkcontribs) 08:00, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

Not more about the amount of time, but the amount of experience. Judging by the welcome on your talk page, I assumed that you had created this account in August 2013, my apologies if that was not the case. I added to the lead right now, and the way it is now perfectly summarizes his legal issues without going into incredible detail. All the negative stuff you tried to add should not be the first thing mentioned in the lead, he is more famous for his rap career than anything else. "He was charged with murder after friends of a former collaborator followed that former collaborators suggestion in his lyrics and attempted to rob him, after a series of public outbursts directed at each other and that a man died as a result seems to make the whole 'coming at' thing pretty damn significant and worth including." Where is this sourced too? There is lacking coverage in the early life section, so go ahead and expand it with proper reliable sources. STATic message me! 14:56, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

Oct2011 if you look at the edit history, or if you look at the history of my page i created that in June 2012. Prior to '11 I had a dynamic addr and didnt care about leaving my IP. Was a bit bewildered why somebody added the welcome. The whole back and forth leading to the robbery is the first issue dealt with in the controversy section. The murder charge is dealt with in the legal section. I dont tend to get things wrong like this - one thing trolls on WHirlpool used to find out - I have a 180IQ and dont say unless I know. The back and forth that led to a murder charge deserves to be in the intro - it makes up about a quarter of the article please help - my hands dont work — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mycosys (talkcontribs) 00:50, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

Will add actually to why i didn't get an account - my housemate at the time was so self important about hers and so damn precious about some edit was she was in about the natability of sources regarding her whacko religion that it put me off having one, anon edits were fine, didnt need credit. Only got one when it started to matter for security and revision management as WP matured. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome - I really am in pain Mycosys (talk) 00:53, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

Berzerk

I know for a fact the song was not released till August 27th. Itunes sometimes writes the dates wrong so that should be fixed. Koala15 (talk) 05:35, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

@Koala15: Yeah you're right, how could it have been released there when the song's audio was not even publicly released yet. But that needs to be adjusted on the song article too, or it just looks inconsistent and sloppy. Also I would appreciate if you commented back on the Swizzz AfD, the way it seems your vote might swing the vote to a possible delete, and I am trying to convince you otherwise, who knows my last comment might, seemed pretty convincing to me. I mean the coverage is only gonna get more significant since his debut album is coming. HipHopDX reviewed his recent single and he was significantly covered in the LA Weekly source. I would hate for another new user to recreate it and have it get salted like SwizZz is. STATic message me! 06:02, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
I would definitely consider changing my vote, since it seems like you have found a good amount of coverage. I'm just not sure how to. Koala15 (talk) 15:19, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
@Koala15: Add <s></s> around the delete to strike it, then at the end of your first comment, leave a reason for changing your vote and write keep at the beginning or end of it. Glad I could convince you. STATic message me! 16:13, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

critical reception section of marshall mathers lp2

you mentioned generally positive reviews for marshall mathers lp 2 in critical reception, but the album received many positive reviews from critics as mentioned on the page and there are only 3 mixed reviews for the album so you can call it mostly positive or just positive rather than generally positive.please mention that marshall mathers lp 2 has received positive reviews from critics. i saw many pages of albums and positive is the best mention for this album. generally positive lowers the critical esteem of the album,so positive would be the correc mention. please consider my statement — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nikhil112 (talkcontribs) 17:05, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

Hello, the content removal I done for the page Knock Madness was done for the purpose of creating a new page for the first single off of the album: Old Friend. RE: Roc Nation Buys Block Starz Music

Hello Static,

AllHipHop.com and other major Hip-Hop news outlets published and still reference the fact that it was reported to be bought by Jay-Z when posting new stories related to the Block Starz Music label. This story was also carried by various non urban major press outlets internationally and was never refuted by Roc Nation and/or representatives for Jay-Z, who undoubtedly saw the story at the time it was originally published. The Hollywood Reporter is a respected trade magazine and PerezHilton.com is a highly-cited website in the same way TMZ has become a "reliable source" by today's standard. A large enough rumor is news. At any length, I can provide additional information about this story to support its notability, so please contact me to discuss. If we can find the story denying the purchase, we just add it to the article, but it was without question a notable event. Thanks in advance! Macklevine (talk) 22:15, 8 November 2013 (UTC)

It needs to be backed by known third party reliable sources. The three sources you originally provided are not necessarily considered reliable sources. However AllHipHop is considered a reliable source, so please replace the Hollywood Reporter and RerezHilton source with that. In the case the information is okay to stay in the article. STATic message me! 00:02, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Source for information?

Thanks for the correction about MMLP2/Web Entertainment. Just curious, how do you know Recovery was released by Web Entertainment? Not doubting it's true..just wondering how you can tell. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Newguy287 (talkcontribs) 00:50, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

I am pretty sure it was not, I mean MMLP1, The Eminem Show and Relapse (his other CDs that I have not including SSLP), also have the Web logo on the back, but all sources including official sites like HitsDoubleDaily, iTunes, RIAA etc, only call it a Shady/Aftermath/Interscope album. Just like his management, I am pretty sure Web did not actually release the album. Pretty sure its just branding. STATic message me! 01:53, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Articles you redirected

You removed "3rd World War" and "Beautiful Onyinye". You need to put them in the parent article. I am not good with Misplaced Pages to know where they are currently located. versace1608 (talk) 04:19, 9 November 2013 (UTC) I know Misplaced Pages rules tells the "reviewer" to redirect the page. Can you not redirect things I write. You can kindly add the the contents of the redirected page to the parent article. versace1608 (talk) 04:32, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Well I already marked Beautiful Onyinye so Beautiful Onyinye (song) may be moved there, but when an song is not really notable there is not much to merge into the artist's article. Also I would prefer if you stopped creating articles for ever single song by african artists, the majority of them are not notable, see WP:NSONGS for more information on what constitutes notability for songs. STATic message me! 04:38, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

If it's left with you, no african songs will deserve an article because they will all fail "notability". versace1608 (talk) 04:48, 9 November 2013 (UTC) I put the contents in the page but the image has been mark for deletion. The non free images have been tagged for deletion. I will try to change the way I write the articles but do not redirect the pages. I don't want to keep having to upload non free images over and over. versace1608 (talk) 05:03, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Maybe instead of creating new articles for every single single or song, work on existing articles, if the songs fail the notability guideline (WP:NSONGS), they are subject to be redirected or deleted, that does not mean recreate them under a different title. STATic message me! 16:26, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

I understand that and you're only abiding by the rules set forth by the Misplaced Pages community. I recreated the "Beautiful Onyinye" article because the song was nominated for a notable award. The only thing that the article fails is charting. The references provided are notable in that they are third party sources independent of the subject. I am of the opinion that you and David are picking and choosing references that you guys deemed "notable". All of the references I provide are notable third party references. I really wish African songs received coverage from foreign references but as it currently stands, African songs are not widely known outside of Africa. I really wish there was a billboard section dedicated to Africa. Hopefully, there's one in the near future. versace1608 (talk) 18:58, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Being nominated for an award is enough to keep the article, that is why I set it up to be moved back to the original title. You might want to see WP:ALBUMS/SOURCES for a list of what sources are considered reliable, if you can find sources for those type of sites, the song may be notable, just filling it with unreliable blogs does establish notability on the English Misplaced Pages. STATic message me! 19:42, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

There lies the problem. The list of websites provided rarely have coverage of African music. I once read a review of D'banj's DKM album a writer for NY Times wrote. I try my best to provide notable sources and the number of webpages that covers Nigerian music are very limited. African music still has a long way to go in terms of being information friendly. Also, the way music is structure in Nigeria is totally different from how it is structure here (U.S) and in the U.K. From now on, I will include most of the singles in their parent articles. versace1608 (talk) 03:59, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

Chris Brown, whether or not he was raped

You might have to take this matter to the WP:BLP noticeboard. Like you stated, it can be considered a WP:BLP violation if Brown does not consider it rape. While rape is not only about physical or psychological force, which the Rape article makes clear, those definitions are far more prevalent with regard to being defined as rape than the type of sexual experience Brown went through (minor with a minor several years older). Pass a Method is trying to prove a point (see here), and see how far he can get with regard to editing articles he knows that I edit. I didn't revert him at the Chris Brown article that second time (didn't see his edit the first time) because it's always best if I don't interact with him and I knew that you or someone else would revert him. But I'm not going to put up with his antics (which is clear here and here) the way that Adjwilley does (often interacting with him, often explaining why his edits are a problem, often taking the time to repeatedly ask him to use appropriate WP:Edit summaries); I never have. Flyer22 (talk) 00:22, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

I might just have to take it to the BLP noticeboard if he continues this, I hope he might take it to the talk page rather then try to start an edit war. I think the term he might be looking for would be "statutory rape", as using the generalized word "rape" and not specifying the gender of the other party, it is a gross BLP violation. For all we know, Brown may have not even been entirely truthful with his statement, and attempting to make himself seem more masculine or something of that nature. I remember Bow Wow said that he lost his V-card at 13 to some actress, which she blatantly denied. I was actually wondering why you had not reverted him the second time. The way he has blatantly attempted to change guidelines without discussing, I am surprised a thread at ANI has not opened up on him yet. STATic message me! 00:48, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
There have been a lot of complaints and some reporting with regard to problems with his edits, and he would not be editing this site if he had not returned under a different account after being indefinitely blocked. I don't remember if there has been a WP:ANI thread on him, but my youngest brother, who recently commented on his talk page, knows whether there has been one. I also remember something about him stating that he is female. If he is, we should get the pronouns right, but he never seems insistent on the correct pronoun use with regard to his sex/gender; I state that because so many editors refer to him by male pronouns, and he barely objects. Flyer22 (talk) 01:05, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
Well, if he was indefinitely blocked and returned under a different username, should we not open a sockpuppet investigation and get this account blocked for good? I would open it if I knew the original account name. The edits are definitely WP:POINTy to his/her personal bias. STATic message me! 01:19, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
That (getting him re-blocked, this time via a WP:Sockpuppet investigation) was already attempted; see Misplaced Pages:Sockpuppet investigations/Someone65/Archive. Flyer22 (talk) 01:24, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
Also, if you compare the strikingly similar edits of both accounts, the fact that Pass a Method is (or was) using the same IP ranges as Someone65, and the fact that Someone65 was repeatedly warned for deceptive edit summaries and Pass a Method has been (and continues to be) repeatedly warned for that as well, there is no doubt whatsoever that Pass a Method is Someone65. Flyer22 (talk) 01:35, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
Dang, that sucks, looks like the declining was just based on the improper behavior and "assumptions" by the nominator. Either way, if they continue the disruptive behavior my crystal ball, sees many ANI/BLPN threads and a block in his/her future. I probably will not personally run into them again (unless they decide to move into hip hop/urban subjects), so that's on you or someone else with a bigger variety watchlist to handle in the future. Do not be afraid to revert obvious BLP violations, like the one we saw on Chris Brown when you see them, those type of controversial edits should always go through talk pages first. STATic message me! 01:46, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
Well, as you saw, it's difficult to argue that the near-identical edits of both accounts and use of the same IP ranges were just coincidences. He more so escaped a re-block because the WP:CheckUser data was stale on the Someone65 account and there was a question as to whether or not he had generally changed his way in a year's time.
I'm not afraid to revert WP:BLP violations; I deal with WP:BLP violation issues often. And as is clear above, I'm not afraid to revert Pass a Method; it's just that I'd rather not deal with him when I don't "have to." Flyer22 (talk) 02:03, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
Yes, clearly looks like the same person. Yeah I know, if you watchlist any BLP you are guaranteed to deal with BLP violations about everyday. Okay I understand that viewpoint, when they are not adhering to a WP:NPOV, but still using sources, it is kind of hard to get a WP:AIV report passed on that merritt. He left a message on the Chris Brown talk page, judging by his wording he was stalking this discussion, but I do not even feel like getting into it with him at this point. If you dropped a comment there I would appreciate it, and probably would jump in shortly. I think if we are going to include the information at all, we should just say he lost his virginity at 8, using the word "rape" is very very incorrect in my mind, as that is not what Brown called it. I mean, if we called it "rape" we would almost have to include Category:Rape victims, but that just sounds like a BLP nightmare to me. STATic message me! 02:46, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
Well, I did link his username above...which means, since his WP:Echo notification is on in this regard, he was alerted to the fact that we are discussing him. It's difficult not to read a discussion about oneself. The history between me and Pass a Method is tempered. So, again, I prefer not to interact with him unless I see it necessary to do so; this is why it's best that you address him about this WP:BLP matter instead of me, when you feel up to it. I will support you on it if need be. And as for statutory rape, that generally refers to certain sexual activity between two underage people of different ages who are pubescent or post-pubescent or, more commonly, sexual activity between an adult and an underage person who is pubescent or post-pubescent. It's rare that boys are pubescent at age 8. Flyer22 (talk) 03:06, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
That's my mistake then, I had missed that you had linked his username. Well then, I guess I will have to get around to that. About your last two sentences, what are you attempting to imply? What would we then describe it as then, you know besides underage sex. STATic message me! 03:15, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
About statutory rape, I was simply noting the general use of the term (that it's not exactly accurate to use it in this case). I'm not sure what term would be best to describe Brown's experience in the case of including text in his Misplaced Pages article. Flyer22 (talk) 03:39, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Drake Discography

There is issues under singles discography for his second album Take Care

The single cycle for Take Care was Headlines followed by Make Me Proud, The Motto, Take Care, HYFR and then Crew Love (radio only). Marvin's Room was initially released as a free song in the summer of 2011 and then released as a promotional single for the album. Headlines was released and promoted as the albums lead single in August.

In addition to that, Lord Knows was never released as a single but continually gets edited into there, it is just like the numerous other album cuts with some slight chart success.

Thank you if you can fix these — Preceding unsigned comment added by Y.M.O.E.2 (talkcontribs) 03:13, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

Headlines is the first single released from Take Care . It was sent to radio and promoted as the official lead single (and first ) off of Take Care

Marvin's Room was never released as a single from Take Care, it was made available as a promotional single in June of 2011 and ultimately found placement on the album

As far as Lord Knows goes, the sourced link was never official and it has incorrect data. Lord Knows was originally intended to be released in the UK on July 30th, 2012 . The reference made available on the Take Care page is the only one that suggests otherwise, and following those potential radio impact rumors no other information ever surfaced about it being released as a single, and nothing suggests a release was ever official. Similar to the Lord Knows situation, Universal Republic also teased us with a We'll Be Fine radio release date of November 26th 2012 in the UK and even shot a video for it, but the song was never released as a single off of Take Care. Both were situations of intent to release, but never officially released as a single from the album. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Y.M.O.E.2 (talkcontribs) 04:17, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

"Marvin's Room" was released as a single on iTunes and was serviced to urban radio, and included on the album. That in no way makes it a promotional single. The various blogs you cited are not changing the facts. Also lead single and first single are not the same thing. Also "Lord Knows" was officially released to radio in the UK and this is sourced. What are you sources that this release was canceled? Remember WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. STATic message me! 06:31, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

The wording of "lead" and "first" is interpreted differently, I noticed that in your first response. Which is why I sourced MTV speaking on Headlines and how thats the first single from Take Care. But in the end it really isn't a huge deal.

In regards to Lord Knows, there are multiple sources claiming different release dates, nothing officially released from the label, no actual success from the song (especially in-comparison to every other single from the album) or evidence of radio spins. The only sign pointing towards it being an official single is one source that has conflicting data with several other sources, all with different release dates. It just does not seem logical to have it included with the other album singles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Y.M.O.E.2 (talkcontribs) 22:28, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Cady Groves copyright issue

Hi STATic VaPor. Just to let you know, you've warned the wrong user here. It was Autumnfriend who introduced the copyright violation, but you warned User talk:Magicmooseman13. Not a big deal probably, since neither editor has edited in months. But something to watch for with future taggings perhaps. Thanks. Paul Erik 22:47, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

@Paul Erik: Hey, I used Twinkle to mark the page for deletion due to it being a copyright violation, and Twinkle automatically notifies the creator of the article of the nomination, I was not necessarily warning User talk:Magicmooseman13 for any wrong doing. STATic message me! 22:51, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
For most cases of G12, it would be appropriate to place the Db-copyvio-notice on the talk page of the article creator, so I'm sure that's why it's set like that. Anyway, in this case the page did not meet criteria for a G12 deletion. You might not have looked closely at the wording... from the CSD page: Only if the history is unsalvageably corrupted should it be deleted in its entirety; earlier versions without infringement should be retained. Thanks. Paul Erik 23:02, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
I did not check the page history, I had just assumed that the biography had been like that since its creation. In the future I will check the page history before using G12. STATic message me! 23:07, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

Joey Badass - "promotional"

Hi there. In regards to recent change to Joey Badass page, I wouldn't call what was edited as "promotional". It was his first UK magazine cover - why would that not be mentioned on his page? Further up his page it mentions "The mixtape was named the 38th best album of 2012 by Complex Magazine", far less significant. Please advise. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexgreenhouse (talkcontribs) 17:37, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

Ariana Grande - same thing

As in the case of Joey Badass, why would a magazine cover not be mentioned in the same way that an appearance on television would? Further up the article it reads, "Grande was also featured in Dream Magazine as the cover girl for the August 2011 issue." Again - same thing. Being featured on magazine covers is as relevant as television appearances in terms of career overview. I included details such as who wrote the piece and took the photos as that's relevant for mainstream artists in the context of magazine coverage. If there's issue with a specific use of wording please advise for future use, and in this case can be amended, but simply removing the whole sentence is rather needless. If an artist is featured on the front cover of a national magazine, that dshould be communicated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alexgreenhouse (talkcontribs) 17:43, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

The difference is the magazine is not even a notable magazine, and you wrote both entries very promotional, why would we need to say who took the photos? STATic message me! 17:52, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

Drake - Too Much

Sampha is not a featured artist on the song. The vocals are sampled from a Sampha song — Preceding unsigned comment added by Y.M.O.E.2 (talkcontribs) 22:01, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Look at the source cited for the single release on the Too Much (Drake song) page, Sampha is credited as a featured artist on there and on the single cover. STATic message me! 00:28, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

That's not an official artwork, and regardless there is not a more valid source for this than the album booklet where it clearly explains that the song samples Sampha - Too Much and does not bill him as a feature artist, all the other songs with features have them listed, Too Much is a solo song. It should be changed in the album page along with the discography. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Y.M.O.E.2 (talkcontribs) 03:47, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

The artwork was taken from the official website for the biggest radio station network in the United Kingdom, so I am guessing it is official. A single credit differs sometimes from album credits, but I will change it on the album page. STATic message me! 04:27, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

2013 in hip hop

You do know at this point there are 2 weeks left in November and if any of those album's in the "unspecified" section were gonna be released in December don't you think they would have release dates and track listings and covers released already? I mean were never gonna actually get sources saying these albums are pushed to 2014 the year is just gonna end. I personally think at this point the whole unspecified section should be removed, but that's just my opinion. Koala15 (talk) 18:23, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

No necessarily on every point there. As I said, all we need is a source saying it will be releasing in 2014, then we can move in to the 2014. Maybe it would have been different if you moved it there, but no you just removed it. We should wait till at least the second week of December and then remove everything unspecified, there is definitely enough time for release dates to be announced, for the indie albums especially. We just do not know, that is why WP:OR is not allowed. We have had a lot of sources that stated albums original scheduled for this year, were not scheduled for 2014 so that point is just moot. I mean we already trimmed that section up, it is not this long unnecessary list anymore. STATic message me! 18:40, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
Yeah but at this point do you really think a high profile Fabolous album is gonna gonna be released in December out of nowhere? Koala15 (talk) 18:46, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
It is not really about my thoughts or doubts. You could have moved in to the 2014 article and I probably would not have a problem with it, notice I did not revert you at the album page. Once Soul Tape 3 comes out, were sure to have sources labeling it as a 2014 album. On a side note I was kinda pissed off that one editor just created the 2014 page with a bunch of indie releases and horrible formatting, when I had the page ready to create for like a month now, and I had to basically recreate it. I went through all the other seasons of the show just now to see where else (Part x) was used, and removed all the ones that were a similar situation to this. @Asaahil: You are free to comment at the AfD discussion page on why it should be kept. If anything Swifty and Kuniva are my two favorite members of D12 outside of Eminem and Proof, we just have guidelines on Misplaced Pages on what makes artists notable, if it was not for Eminem and D12 they would probably still be in the underground cyphers in Detroit. Unlike Proof, Mr. Porter and Bizarre those two were not covered independently in reliable sources. I probably would not have nominated it for deletion, if I did not have to revert you on all those pages you were trying to promote your article in. Also comment in this section only. Has he ever officially released music under the name? That section is only for official stage names not nicknames per Template: Infobox musical artist. STATic message me! 23:35, 19 November 2013 (UTC)

Akon's name

Did you even watch the video of Akon SAYING his name? It's the exact same thing as written. Contactman7 (talk) 12:24, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

That is a copyright violation and cannot be used on Misplaced Pages. STATic message me! 17:24, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
If it's a copyright violation, why not cite the original source and not the infringing YouTube page? —C.Fred (talk) 21:08, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
@C.Fred: I could not find a direct source, but I found a posting of the video on Rap-Up's website, and I updated the Akon page accordingly with the source. I am not sure if the name is his legal birth name, view his bio and you will understand what I mean by that. STATic message me! 03:37, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

Alright fair enough. But since he says his name, it should be included on his page... Contactman7 (talk) 20:50, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for making this edit. It's bizarre, as I actually made that same edit here, yet somehow undid it in my subsequent edit. Weird. :/ Thanks again. Acalamari 16:35, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

You're welcome, no problem I barely caught it too. Maybe you had edit conflicted yourself and undid your last edit, it has happened to me before too. STATic message me! 17:02, 20 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi. I blocked this IP and left a note on their talk page. It seems that you are aware of a related IP that was recently blocked for similar editing. I wonder if you could please watch the IP's talk page, to see if they provide a reasonable explanation. TigerShark (talk) 16:16, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

On further investigation, it seems they have been IP hopping for months, so I have range blocked them. TigerShark (talk) 16:25, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
Yes, User: Mark Arsten attempted a range block, I am not sure what happened that they returned today, but thanks their IP range is very limited, so a range block should do it. STATic message me! 17:01, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, I only rangeblocked for one week, so my block expired yesterday, I think. Mark Arsten (talk) 17:05, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
Oh, okay, looks like they were sure anticipating the end of that week. STATic message me! 17:11, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

The Linkin Park issue

Hey, this is Jibbz Every day I go on to lplive.net or linkinparklive.com, well they're the same website, anyway, that was the website that I found out that Linkin Park is gonna headline the Download Festival on June 14th next year. The band has alot of things plan for next year like more than 20 things, right now I'm not confirm if the band is gonna play 2 set on the 14th of June yet, but I know they are playing all the songs in order from the album Hybrid Theory which they call it the "Hybrid Theory set". Tickets had already gone online for the fanclub and LPUNDERGROUND members. The band consider next year as a "Come-Back year". They said that the next album isn't gonna be like Living Things, A Thousand Suns, not even Minutes To Midnight, so that leave the style of Hybrid Theory and Meteora (Rock and Hip Hop mix ). All they want is to get their fans they've lost in 2007 back. I'll let you know what other plans the band have for next year. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.1 Jibbz (talkcontribs)

The content addition needed to be back by third party reliable sources, fan sites will not do. STATic message me! 18:06, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi!

Hi! How are you Static? I am coming here because I know you are the main contributor to The Marshall Mathers LP 2 article. I am concerned with the Critical reception section. It is too long, the most important reviews should be only present, not every single one. I suggest you do some trim or maybe ask a copy-editor/editor which is interested in those sections to help you/us (the community) with it. Cheers! — Tomíca 17:37, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

Hey Tomica, I am good how about you? Funny, I had forgotten to do that. I usually let the album sit a few weeks after release, to let all the reviews come in and then trim the fat that usually can be found in that section. Thanks for reminding me, I should be getting to that shortly. STATic message me! 18:07, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
I am fine too, thanks for asking. Well, I just went along through the article and thought it would smart for me to write to you, cause I know you want to take care of it hehe. Cheers! — Tomíca 18:10, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
Waaalah already done, looks a bit long still, but I came to the point where I was not sure what to remove. I took my eyes off the section for awhile and it sure got out of hand. And of course, its an amazing album, I would want the article to look as best as possible :) STATic message me! 18:27, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
Indeed is. I gave it a try, and I really like it, especially "Rap God" and "The Monster" (ofc that one, I am a Rih fan :P). I hope it hits number one next week on the Hot 100 . They will make history. — Tomíca 18:36, 23 November 2013 (UTC)
Eminem really knows how to make those hits, he made a fun song of him just rapping his ass off as fast as he could , and it debuted in the top 10 of the Hot 100. From the second I heard Monster I told myself easy number one record right there. STATic message me! 18:44, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

Shannon Leto

According to WP:MUSICBIO, Members of two notable bands are generally notable enough for their own article. Thirty Seconds to Mars and The Wondergirls (not counting the Street Drum Corps) seem like notable bands to me. And Leto also had an acting career. You should restore its links. Same thing for Kevin Drake, who has worked with Thirty Seconds to Mars and Polaroid Kiss.--Earthh (talk) 18:28, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

The most important point being, "Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent from the musician or ensemble itself", which the subject lacks. Also "acting career" is stretching it quite a bit, this is not mentioned in the article and IMDb only contains uncredited appearances, extra work (only one case) and two spots in TV show episodes. Either way, I waited 10 days to see if someone was going to contest the redirect and no one did, that is why I used Twinkle to remove the redirect links. Currently am in the process of restoring them. STATic message me! 18:44, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

Snoop Lion or Snoop Dogg

Hi STATicVapor! Snoop Dogg changed his name, a couple of months, or even a year ago, to Snoop Lion because he was pursuing a career in Reggae music. I saw that his name on his Misplaced Pages page was Snoop Dogg, therefore I changed it via iPhone. But after I changed it I realize that at the very top it still read Snoop Dogg and I did not know how to change it. I appreciate that you sent me a message. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nikalaka (talkcontribs) 22:35, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

@Nikalaka: Snoop still releases music and makes numerous appearances as Snoop Dogg, and Snoop Dogg remains his WP:COMMONNAME. Snoop Dogg remains the article title so the infobox must match that. View the article talk page for the various discussions related to what the article should be titled. STATic message me! 22:43, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

Bound 2

Hi! Got a little query in regards to "Bound 2". On the article it has been listed as number 55 in the UK Singles Chart based on this chart, but in the linked chart it actually got #94. this week it hit #84... so do I update it to #84 rather than this unsourced #55 business? DJUnBalanced (talk) 19:30, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

@Djunbalanced: Hey good job noticing that, but if you see this, the song did peak at #55. This most likely occurred during the week of the album's release, so that link should replace the current ref on the page. STATic message me! 19:35, 24 November 2013 (UTC)

DYK for Delusional Thomas

Updated DYK queryOn 26 November 2013, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Delusional Thomas, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Delusional Thomas is a horrorcore influenced mixtape that features American rapper Mac Miller rapping in a distorted pitched-up voice? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Delusional Thomas. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
