Dan Tore Evensen (born June 1, 1974 in Arendal) is a Norwegian mixed martial artist and former K-1 Kickboxer. Most recently on May 1, 2009, Evensen defeated Raoul Romero via second-round TKO at Bellator V. Evensen has also fought for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Bellator Fighting Championships, and the now defunct BodogFIGHT.

Background

Athletic, Evensen was a talented hammer thrower, and at 16 years of age he had a personal record at 52.50 meters. He also competed in boxing and American Football, playing for the local team Arendal Wildcats for several years and was taken out to participate on the Norwegian National American Football team in the 90's. As a junior in 1994 he was a champion for the Norwegian team in judo, before leaving Norway to attend on University of Texas at El Paso, Texas. He extended his hammer throw to over 60 meters, and had 2000 Summer Olympics as goal. Evensen went back to Norway and was working as a ship mechanic, but decided to come back to the United States, this time as a martial artist.

Mixed martial arts career

Early career

Evensen made his professional debut in mixed martial arts at an event in Colorado and compiled a record of 10-2 before being signed by the UFC.

UFC

Evensen made his debut for the organization at UFC 87 on August 9, 2008 against Cheick Kongo and lost via TKO at the end of the first round.

At UFC 92 on December 27, 2008 Evensen faced Pat Barry and lost via TKO due to leg kicks in the first round.

Bellator

Evensen signed with Bellator and made his debut at Bellator 5 on May 1, 2009 and won via TKO in the second round.
