Conflict of interest and harassment

Hello,

I want to bring to your attention that when investigating possible cases of conflict of interest editing, editors must be careful not to out other editors. Misplaced Pages's policy against harassment takes precedence over the conflict of interest guideline. I have elevated this to the issue to the administrator's noticeboard seeing that you have named my employer and made defamatory claims about my employer.

Hello again. I think I've already made 'my case' in my last edit at the COI noticeboard where I addressed both of the above points. This would be (diff).

I saved my response and would like to quote two pieces if I may, edited for privacy of course. First about the username, I said:

"My username is an alias and does not resemble a living person. I have never claimed otherwise. My initials are completely different to the initials of the person it was claimed I would impersonate and the last names share just one character, the "i" at the end."

I went on to still express my willingness to have my username changed should I get asked to do so.

Then the piece about private information, I said:

"In this edit (diff) and above, Sophie.grothendieck expressed the wish that his association with what he calles "his firm" be verified by checking an IP address he used. I did the IP lookup he requested, see (link). The company profile about his firm *** at LinkedIn (link) is currently listing the following specialties: Quantitative Trading, High Frequency Trading, Asset Management, Hedge Fund."

PLEASE NOTE that I left the latter two links disabled and replaced the firm's name with ***.

I think it's clear that the person consented to have this information considered. I showed this with the diff link in my original response. He explicitly asked to have his IP looked up in order to establish the association with his firm and I did just that. In fact, he made the same request again with what I referred to as "and above" which would be his original COI filing.

What happened then? After my response, the person went on to complain at the admin noticeboard about alleged outing, but incidentally left out that I said "In this edit (diff) and above," when he quoted me. I can't diff-link to that because it's hidden, I remember it though. In other words, he deliberately left out his original consent. I believe it's hardly my fault when the said person changes his mind after the fact.

Furthermore, said person went on to alter his original COI filing, blatantly alter my comment, remove large parts of my response and even add his own comments in between my response. This can be seen from the subsequent edits after (diff). He turned my reply to his COI filing against me into a defacement.

I'm glad these issues receive admin attention and would like to ask if it were possible to consider my entire original response at (diff). I believe the issues pointed out there may justify further attention. Thanks again for allowing me to speak. KristinaChi (talk) 20:59, 7 June 2014 (UTC)
