Futsū no Joshikōsei ga Locodol Yattemita (普通の女子校生が【ろこどる】やってみた。, lit. "Normal High School Girls Tried Being Local Idols"), also known as Locodol, is a 4-panel comedy manga series by Kōtarō Kosugi, serialized in Ichijinsha's Manga 4-Koma Palette magazine since 2011. It follows the adventures of high school girl Nanako Usami who teams up with upperclassman Yukari Kohinata as a pair of local Japanese idols, going on television broadcasts and performing at events, to promote their town of Nagarekawa and its businesses. It has been collected in two tankōbon volumes as of January 2014. An anime television series adaptation by Feel was announced, and began airing the broadcast night of July 3, 2014.

Nanako Usami (宇佐美 奈々子, Usami Nanako)

An ordinary high school girl who winds up becoming a Locodol.
Yukari Kohinata (小日向 縁, Kohinata Yukari)
Voiced by: Sachika Misawa
Nanako's partner in Nagarekawa Girls. She is Nanako's upperclassman in her high school. She cares deeply for Nanako. She comes from a wealthy family but is excited to have Nanako as a friend. In the first anime episode, she plays keyboard. Her busty appearance becomes a running gag in the anime. She is described as someone who seems perfect, but a bit airheaded.
Yui Mikoze (三ヶ月 ゆい, Mikoze Yui)
Voiced by: Maya Yoshioka
A petite girl who could pass as a Japanese idol but prefers to work as a mascot character, Uogokuro-kun. She reveals that she is eighteen years old and a third-year student at Nanako and Yukari's school. With her costume, she likes to do flips, somersaults, and even some breakdancing spins.

Manga

The original manga by Kōtarō Kosugi began serialization in Ichijinsha's Manga 4-Koma Palette magazine in 2011.

Anime

A 12 episode television anime series produced by Feel began airing on TBS on the broadcast night of July 3, 2014 and is being simulcast by Crunchyroll outside of Asia. It is also being broadcast to CBC.

The opening theme is "Mirai Fanfare" (ミライファンファーレ, Future Fanfare) by Nagarekawa Girls (Miku Itō and Sachika Misawa) whilst the ending theme is "Mirai Shoujo-tachi" (未来少女たち, Future Girls) by Miku Itō, Sachika Misawa, and Maya Yoshioka. The theme songs were released on July 30, with an appearance by Miku Ito at Nagareyama which the fictional town of Nagarekawa is based on. A character single with insert songs is planned for release on August 27.

Home release

The series will be released to DVD and Blu-Ray format in seven volumes. The first volume contains a full-length OVA special and six illustrated cards.
