Categories for discussion

Hey Vin09, thanks for contributing on CfD. Just want to let you know that you act a bit (too) quickly. Removing a category from articles before a discussion about the category has taken place, or removing a category by yourself as the proposer, are both not in line with etiquette. The discussion should be closed by an independent editor who has not participated in the discussion and s/he is the one who should remove the category, not you. In this case it didn't do any harm but if you would do it next time again you could get into trouble. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:04, 1 August 2014 (UTC)

City Nicknames

Hi Vin09!

What's up?

I saw your post on my talk page regarding the nicknames. There's a comprehensive list that was found by me on Misplaced Pages link . However, i believe that the list is not exhaustive. I don;t know of any of Misplaced Pages's policy regarding city nicknames. As far as my own edits are concerned, i let them stay. It's a sort of chance that i give, since I may not have knowledge or could find resources/references in support of the name doesn't really mean it doesn't exist. I delete them or edit them only if they are outrageous! Example : City: XYZ nicknamed as "Paris of India".

How's this for you? Any suggestions and comments are welcome :)

No, the edit was not test/mistake, it was done with full knowledge. IMHO removal of the category is either mistake or POV-pushing. Can you let me know why you think it was test? FYI, the category was rather restored by me and not added. I'm just trying to restore the content which had been removed from article in frenzy of partition sentiments. I see these removals as ethnic/linguistic/communal POV-pushing. If something is uncertain than status-quo i.e. provious status should be maintained rather cleaning article by whims and fancies of few editors trying to delink post-partion AP from legacy of pre-partion AP.--Sayed Mohammad Faiz Haiderc_s 18:09, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

@Faizhaider:ok, so that may apply to Telangana, but as a whole in Andhra Pradesh there is no official language Urdu. Many of the organizations are asking for a review on second language to the chief minister to be considered as second language like how it was before partition. At present, you can see the AP state portal, purely updated post bifurcation which states only Telugu.--Vin09 (talk) 18:17, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

"country subdivision" was the piece which I wanted to point to. But for arguments sake let us assume your edit-comment "... is not a coutry nor a territory, its a state)" is valid for all states but why did you removed category from Delhi? APMK, Delhi is termed either as Union Territory or National Capital Territory (NCT of Delhi). Don't you see conflict in your comment and action? And if you insist we can rename category Category:Urdu-speaking countries and territories → Category:Urdu-speaking countries and subdivisions, may then we'll be more politicall & terinalogically correct, any suggestions?--Sayed Mohammad Faiz Haiderc_s 19:38, 8 August 2014 (UTC)

Religious Percentage in Andhra Pradesh

hi Vin09. only 6.9% is the percentage of Muslim population in Andhra Pradesh you can find it in http://pib.nic.in/archieve/others/2011/jan/d2011010502.pdf here just see in page no 116 last graff Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema Muslim population is only 6.9% i hope you will check it (Visakha veera (talk) 11:08, 10 August 2014 (UTC))

i hope your mother tongue all so Telugu so please give me support for this issue! because i want support from our Telugu Wikipedians. you know i am fighting for this issues from last 2 months! compare to us there are large number of people speak Urdu in Karnataka totally north Karnataka is majority people are Muslim so first use in Urdu in Karnataka info box. Actually, we should not use that kind of statements, wiki rules won't allow them, as per WP:POV. So, whatever the correct we should follow whether Telugu, Urdu but based on reference. So, if Telugu is there, right we have certain references. There are many senior editors who'll judge, no hurry. I had lots of comments on that page. Let's wait, other users will also have their say.
