'''Cleo Virginia Andrews''' (], ] – ], ]), better known as '''V. C. Andrews''' or '''Virginia C. Andrews''' is an ] author.

Most of her novels combine ] and ], each usually consisting of a series of five books, where the last book is a ] explaining much of the events of the series. Most of her stories revolve around family secrets and forbidden love (most frequently involving themes of consensual ], most often but not always between siblings), and they often include a rags-to-riches story.

Best selling gothic novelist Cleo Virginia Andrews was born on June 6, 1924 in Portsmouth, Virginia. She died on December 19, 1986 of ] at the age of 63. V. C. Andrews, as she was better known to her fans, wrote the infamous novel Flowers in the Attic. This shocking tale of four children locked in the attic of one of the most wealthy families in Virginia by their estranged religious grandmother for four horrifying years instantly became a bestseller in 1979. Ms. Andrews was world renowned for her ability to tell shocking stories.

Her novels have been translated into ], ], ], ], ], ],] and ].

Her novels were so successful that after her death her estate hired a ], ], to write more stories that were published under her name. Fans usually agree that Andrews' original work is better than Neiderman's novels, although Neiderman's stories are said to be based on Andrews' original ideas.

A few common elements of her family sagas are that the first few books are about the main character, who is commonly a girl. The fourth is about their child or another family member, and the last is about the first main character's mother or grandmother and how the events of the first book occurred.

However, the above is only true for the first five series. After the Logan series ended, Neiderman decided to try something different with the Orphans miniseries, and since then all the series that have come after no longer really follow Ms. Andrew's formula.

Lately, with the last few series that has come around, beginning with the Hudson series, there has been much discontent and questions about the quality of Neiderman's work.
