Flame of Peace (Flamme des Friedens) is an Austrian organization which promotes world peace. Volunteer-run, it is registered in Vienna.

Foundation

The founder and president is Herta Margarete Habsburg-Lothringen, the wife of Sandor Habsburg-Lothringen, Archduke of Austria and Prince of Tuscany.

The 2009 event was attended by the likes of Christian Berlakovits (Austrian Ambassador to Italy), Vesna Borozan (Ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia), Prince Bernard (Consulate of Cameroon), Silvia Davidoiu (Ambassador of Romania), Ahmed Alwan al-Alwani Mulhi (Ambassador of Yemen) and Ashot Hovakimian (Ambassador of Armenia). In 2010 Military Bishop Christian Werner and a soldier at the Bolfras Barracks in Mistelbach were recipients.

In 2012 local firefighters in Thomasl in Ernstbrunn, Lower Austria, were praised for their bravery and the funds were raised for a monument. In 2013 Herta Margarete Habsburg Lothringen awarded the Young Flame of Peace Award to the International School of Monaco for their participation in the United Nations Art for Peace 2012 project. The 2013 event was held at the Kunstgalerie Bachlechner in Bergdietikon and was won by Polish ambassador Jarosław Starzyk. In May 2014 in Japan the award was given to Kenshiro Mori, President of the Sakamoto Ryoma Memorial Museum and to opera singer Luka Simeno. Wolfgang Laubinger, the founder and director of camps of the Evangelical Church of Gütersloh was one of the recipients of the Bronze Medal of Merit from the organization. In March 2015, The Flame of Peace Award was given to the Italian Defence Minister Roberta Pinotti.
