James Stunt was born in London, his mother Lorraine Stunt was an affluent woman and father Geoffrey Stunt father was a corporate printing and publishing tycoon. He has a brother, Lee Stunt. Stunt grew up between Wentworth Estate and Wilton Crescent in London and Monaco.

He attended Preparatory school at Scaitcliffe , later he attended at Bradfield College.Than he went to Mander Portman Woodward. Next, he joined European Business School in Regents Park London where he studied on a major in Business and a minor in Media Studies.

James Stunt has the largest collection of Petrus wine in the US, along with large collections of Romanée-Conti and le Pin wine. His Petru's collection is the finest private collection in the UK. He also has Chateau Lafitte Rothschild wines. James is reported to have one of the top 5 collections of rare wine in the world.

Art Collection

Stunt made an expensive art bids £12.5 million for a 17th century self-portrait by Sir Anthony Van Dyck. In 2013 , James Stunt won the bid against the National Portrait Gallery. However, the British government placed an export ban on the piece citing its national importance . Later, Stunt withdrew his bid for the Van Dyck. James Stunt is obsessed with old master and modern art paintings, especially artists such as Salvador_Dalí, Sir Peter Lely, Sir Godfrey Kneller, Picasso and Degas, Monet, John Constable, Thomas Gainsborough, Sir Joshua Reynolds, Titian, and Sir Thomas Lawrence. James owns the last ever female double by Van Dyck in a private collection, the painting of the Cheeke Sisters, Also, James sponsored and lends his Precious Paintings to MFA (Museum of Fine Arts, Boston), NPG National Portrait Gallery,

Philanthropy

Stunt donated to many organizations and causes. Including the Tory Party, the Prince’s trust, Elton John’s charity, Tusk Charity, Zack Goldsmith’s charity, the Ormerly dinner, the Meningitis charity. James Stunt is a generous donor and sponsor for the newly re-constructed and developed Stunt Pavilion at Bradfield College. Stunt solely paid for the renovations of a pavilion at his former college, Bradfield College. Bradfield College honored his generosity by renaming the pavilion to Stunt Pavilion.
