Tagging of Eric Bute

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Eric Bute. I do not think that Eric Bute fits any of the speedy deletion criteria  because "Global Creative Director at Euro/RSCG, the world's fifth-largest agency network" is a claim of significance.. I request that you consider not re-tagging Eric Bute for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. DES 23:34, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

But there is nothing to back that up. No news articles or coverage in reliable third party sources. I am seriously considering taking this to AfD, and I'm not sure why this needs to be discussed on the talk page. --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 05:18, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

That there is no cited source, and that you have not been able to find one are perhaps good reasons to use Prod or to list at AfD. However, they are not at all relevant to speedy deleton under A7. See Claim of significance. An article does not need to cite a source to avoid an A7 speedy. When I decline a speedy deletion on CSD patrol, I usually note the fact on the article tslk page, along with my reason, so no one will reaply the speedy tag blindly, and so they can discuss the issue with me or with other editors if they choose. Guild of Copy Editors June 2015 News May drive: Thanks to everyone who participated in last month's backlog-reduction drive. Of the 38 people who signed up, 29 copyedited at least one article, and we got within 50 articles of our all-time low in the backlog. Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.
