Report Errors Here

Hello Ogre, the sign said report errors here, so here I am. I noticed in my watchlist that you deleted: File:Sundown at Eastland Ranch.JPG because there was a copy on commons. Just to let you be aware: I see no deletion, and no attempt made or tag to achieve it. Perhaps I will put an "now commons" tag there. Thanks-Pocketthis (talk) 15:32, 23 September 2015 (UTC)

I'll leave it alone, because when I put the tag there, it wants to save it to the commons version. Perhaps you did successfully delete it, and it just hasn't stuck yet. Sorry to bother you. I'm commenting on an area I'm not an expert in. Thanks-Pocketthis (talk) 15:54, 23 September 2015 (UTC)

@Pocketthis: if that sort of thing happens, you can fix it by "purging" the page by appending a parameter to the URL (see File:MediaWiki-Purging-URL.png). Magog the Ogre (tc) 00:41, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

db-f8

Just a quick question about {{db-f8}} - is this edit for the backlog still needed? I ask because it's causing duplication of templates for NowCommonsReview. ennasis @ 21:14, 10 Tishrei 5776 / 21:14, 23 September 2015 (UTC)

@Avicennasis: it is not needed anymore. Magog the Ogre (tc) 00:42, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

Giant Eagle and Dick's Sporting Goods

Hi Magog, great work and thanks so much for your contributions. I noticed that the store location maps for Giant Eagle and Dick's Sporting Goods are a bit dated, if you have the time please make a recent map for both. Love your work and hope life has been good for you! ⧐ Diamond Way 02:44, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

@Marketdiamond: I will get to work on it. Due to changes in their websites, it will take a bit to figure out how to scrape the data. Magog the Ogre (tc) 22:38, 25 September 2015 (UTC)
@Marketdiamond: this is done. Magog the Ogre (tc) 04:42, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
Many thanks Magog the Ogre! I feel you on the Giant Eagle website stuff, not sure what's going on there with their web designer, take as much time as you need and thanks again for working on these! ⧐ Diamond Way 20:36, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
@Marketdiamond: the problem is that website owners routinely provide the ability to find a store by location, because it's what the public and business needs are. But they have little incentive to provide a list of the public of all their stores. So it involves some tedium as well as some (legal and ethical) hacking. Magog the Ogre (tc) 20:41, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
Yes very true, websites like Giant Eagle tho make what you do here at Misplaced Pages so much more appreciated, if only every organization had your vision. Thanks for working on it! ⧐ Diamond Way 22:48, 28 September 2015 (UTC)

Transwiki of Attribution license

I'm not sure whether there's an automated or semi-automated solution to this, but the {{Attribution}} license template is constructed differently here and at Commons, which necessitates manual cleanup (at least when using FTCG or the other tools that I'm aware of). The main problems seem to come when anyone has used a string in the template to specify the author or the attribution text. When an en:wikipedia user is specified, the template ends up linking to a Commons user page instead of a userpage here. The attribution text block at Commons requires the use of "|text=" and doesn't here. I was trying to imagine if the cleanup.js script could rectify this - perhaps by converting the license template to "self|attribution" if "own work" is specified in the source, and than prefacing any other text in the template with the "text=" parameter. Or perhaps it would be better to have a bot grind through all the Attribution licenses here and standardize them with the Commons license format, if that is even possible. I know you're busy but was curious about your thoughts. Cheers! Kelly 08:48, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

Just noted another annoying problem at Commons - when "Attribution" is used inside "self", it fails to grab and display the "text" field from the self template. This is a problem that also occurs inside the "cc-by-sa-3.0" field when the license is added as a result of the license migration from "GFDL-with-disclaimers". Kelly 09:01, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
@Kelly: the attribution problem is one I'll have to think about. There may be some circumstances in which I can make cleanup TS do this task, which would be ideal because the bot will catch uploads which a human never sees. Fortunately it's not a very big deal anymore with SUL. Anyway, I don't actively maintain JS anymore unless there is a particularly obnoxious bug fix. It may not be the most user friendly but I think it's the best for everyone.
Anyway I don't understand the other problem. Could you back up 20 paces and try again? I may not know something you assume I know. Magog the Ogre (tc) 02:18, 26 September 2015 (UTC)
