Agoda Company Pte Ltd is an Online Travel Agency (OTA) based in Singapore that offers accommodation booking services through its website and mobile app. Agoda.com offers service in 38 languages. Its inventory includes various types of accommodations, from hotels and b&bs to beach resorts, rest houses and homestays.
As of 2015, the company has over 2,000 employees worldwide, with offices in Bangkok, Tokyo, Sydney, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Budapest, London and New York. Agoda Company Pte Ltd is part of The Priceline Group.
History
Agoda.com was originally founded in Thailand in the late 1990s. In 2007, The Priceline Group acquired Agoda Company Pte Ltd. The company launched its mobile app in 2011. Supported on Android, iOS and Windows Phone devices, the app offers full booking functionality in multiple languages.
Product
Agoda.com is known for collecting upfront payment for room nights booked on the company’s website or mobile app, an approach known as the Merchant Model in the online travel industry. The company lists over 700,000 properties worldwide on its website.
The company claims to specialize in providing discounted room rates and offers a “Best Price Guarantee”, which promises to match or beat lower prices offered by other vendors.
Like other major OTAs, the company's hotel management system gives properties autonomy to control rates and availability, or to create tailored promotions according to season and occupancy.
