Spider-man, against Storm's wishes, becomes the newest faculty member at the ] for mutant superheroes. He then decides to take a non-traditional approach to teaching and goes to the danger room, then on a field trip to the ], only to be attacked by ] and ], who have been creating a laser that turns humans into dinosaurs. They both fall for Shark-Girl, who they believe is on their side since she's not a mammal. She tricks them and saves the X-men. On their return they are kidnapped by ] and transported to ]. They escape thanks to the ]. Upon their return the school is attacked by ] and the ] who have been corrupted by the ]. Finally back at the school Spider-man thinks he has his suspected mole, but it turns out he was wrong and it was ], who made a deal with ] to give No-Girl a clone body. Sinister betrayed Ernst and set his cloned X-men after the students, who finally acted as a cohesive team and were able to defeat them and save the nearby civilians. Because of their teamwork, nobody was expelled from the school and the students are allowed to go on weekly patrols with Spider-man. Spider-Man and the X-Men is a six-issue superhero limited series written by Elliott Kalan, drawn by Marco Failla, and published by Marvel Comics between December 2014 and April 2015.

Publication History

Marvel wanted to continue the "Wolverine and the X-Men" series, but with the death of Wolverine, writer Elliott Kalan chose super-Spider-Man to lead the X-men. This volume lasted six issues from December 2014 to April 2015.

A trade paperback collecting all six issues was released August 4, 2015.

Synopsis

Spider-man, against Storm's wishes, becomes the newest faculty member at the Jean Grey School for mutant superheroes. Concentrating on the troubled students Eye-Boy, No-Girl, Rockslide, Shark-Girl, Hellion, Ernst, and Glob Herman, he focuses on ethics: "With great power comes great responsibility" and "Having mercy on your enemies". After having adventures involving antagonists including Sauron, Stegron, the Chameleon, Warbird, the Brood and Mister Sinister, the students eventually are allowed to go on weekly patrols with Spider-Man.
