Template:Chinese name Template:Infobox Chinese-language singer and actor Template:Contains Chinese text Huang Zitao (Chinese: 黄子韬; pinyin: Huáng Zitao), best known under his stage name Tao (Template:Lang-ko) (born May 2, 1993), is a Chinese rapper, singer, actor and martial artist. He debuted as the lead rapper for the South Korean-Chinese boy group EXO and its Chinese-based sub-unit EXO-M. In the summer of 2015 he made his solo debut with his digital mini-album T.A.O with 3 tracks under the newly adapted stage name, Z.Tao.
Early life
Huang Zitao was born in Qingdao, Shandong, China. Due to his mischievous nature as a child, his father placed him in martial arts training at the age of five. He learned Wushu and was also a student-athlete during his school years.
Career
Pre-debut
In late 2010, he reluctantly accompanied a friend to "MBC Star Audition" which was hosting a global talent search and was scouted immediately by a representative from SM Entertainment.
2011–2014: EXO

In 2013 during the months of August and September, Tao took part in filming for MBC's celebrity diving program Splash! . After a run of four episodes, the show was cancelled due to a number of celebrities who were reportedly injured, in which he was one of the ones who were injured. The episodes aired from August 23, 2013 to September 13, 2013.
In June 2014, Tao appeared in Zhang Liyin's music videos for her singles Agape released on August 5, 2014 and it's sequel Not Alone released September 22, 2014.
In October 2014, Tao was featured in the Chinese version of Rewind for Zhou Mi's album of the same name, and a music video of the song was released on October 30, 2014. He was also featured in another song from the album, Love Tonight. Tao wrote the rap lyrics for both songs.
In July 2014, Tao joined the cast of Solomon Islands edition of SBS' Laws of the Jungle. He had to leave the show earlier than expected due to foot injury on a coral reef during filming. The episodes aired from October 17, 2014 to October 31, 2014.
2015: Lawsuit against SM and solo career
On 24 January 2015, Tao appeared as a guest on a variety show "With You All the Way" hosted by his his former labelmate Kim_Heechul in China.
In June 2015, Tao set up an official Chinese agency, 黄子韬Z.TAO Studio.
On June 3, 2015, Huang Zitao was introduced as the model and spokesperson for the mobile game Almighty Team, Tao, who is known to be an avid player of video games, had 2 major hero a characters modeled after him who displayed his Wushu martial arts skills as a special power.
On 23 July 2015, Zitao made his solo debut with a digital mini-album T.A.O.. Tao's studio announced that he will be releasing a self-titled album, Z.TAO, on August 17, 2015 with a single Crown. The album was postponed due to the Tianjin explosions in Tianjin, China on August 12, 2015. Tao and his studio rescheduled the release of the album as well as cancel two mini concerts. The album was eventually released on August 19, 2015 for free and his first solo concert was held at the Beijing Exhibition Center Theater on August 23 as a charity concert. He performed 8 tracks including the songs from his first mini album.
On August 24, Tao filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment to terminate his contract, due to health reasons. In the past years Tao had many accidents that caused injuries, which is one of the reasons why he quit being in EXO.
On 7 September 2015, Zitao appeared on the press conference of his first reality-variety show "Charming Daddy" which was aired SZTV from November 28, 2015 - February 20, 2016. It is a show where he and other 3 celebrity experienced parenthood by raising children aged 5 or under as a father for a month.
On September 19, 2015, Zitao attended the London Fashion Week after being invited by Versus Versace. Before the show, Huang Zitao had taken part in the official Versus Versace SS16 collection's street style photo-shoot as the brands Chinese ambassador.
On October 2015, Zitao was announced as one of the spokespersons of the online game "I Am the Sovereign", he assumed the role of the game's main character Muchen in the game's advertising campaign. Along with being the spokesperson for the game, Tao was also chosen to be the singer-songwriter of the game's theme song. The theme song ''I Am The Sovereign'' was a success and was #1 for the week of on China's Billboard chart for the week of December 15, 2015.
Zitao was confirmed as one of the supporting characters in Jackie Chan's upcoming movie, "Railroad Tigers" directed by Ding Sheng. In the movie Zitao is going to have fight scenes with Jackie Chan and he performs the stunts himself. The movie is expected to be released in October 2016.
On December 2015, it was announced that Zitao is going to be the male lead in the movie "Summer, Portrait of a 19 year old". He will be playing along with actress Yang Caiyu as the female lead. The movie was filmed in Taiwan and it is based on a novel from Japanese mystery writer Soji Shimada. The movie is expected to be released in August 2016.
2016
In January 29, Zitao was invited to be one of the headlining artists for "SoYoung 2016 Live concert Tour" a live concert event that featured the most popular up and coming musicians in China, and Tao performed 5 of his songs: Reluctantly, Crown, M.O.M, I'm the Sovereign, and Feel awake. Zitao won the votes for the most popular performer of the event and sang the song ''Reluctantly'' again to celebrate his victory.
On March 14, 2016, Huang Zitao was confirmed as the lead character in director Gao Xixi movie The Game Changer, inspired by the Chinese TV series The Bund
On March 2, 2016 it was confirmed that Huang Zitao will be among the first celebrity cast in the first season of the Chinese Version of Law of the Jungle alongside Kim Byung-man, who he collaborated with in the Korean version in Solomon's island, the show will be aired on Anhui TV in April.
Later on March, via chat, Z.Tao announced he was recording a new album which would be a combined album to be released in physical form in addition to digital. He posted pictures on Instagram of him in a recording studio, and the caption said that he was recording for his next single. Within two weeks he posted another picture that he finished recording for his next album. He also recorded a second Music Video with Director Nick Lentz, who had collaborated with him previously on the music video for ''Imperial crown', The date and track list of his next album is still unknown but the tentative time given for release date is in April 2016, On March 24th, 2016 Z.Tao also announced new concert tour titled ''The Road'' to take place in Nanjing, China on May 1st, 2016
