Concerning CAT:PNT
Thanks for the help offered; I just finished 2 bits, by deleting one as copyvio, and translating the other. As implied, I've been watching the cat for some time now, but tried to first tidy up the project-page; btw, do you have any idea for a location for the Berlin-meetup (as the discussion seems to have died down)? Lectonar 12:45, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- The project page was in rather bad condition due to real life / wikibreak issues on my side. Thank you for working on it! I've done some CAT:PNTs already. For the organization of the Berlin meetup, I won't be much help: just pick a cafe/pub you like and we'll go there... Kusma (討論) 13:03, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Workingforchange
Why did you delete the Workingforchange page? —vivacissamamente 03:40, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- It had been proposed for deletion under the WP:PROD process for five days, and nobody objected to its deletion. If you object to the deletion, I will restore the page and start a deletion discussion at WP:AFD instead. Just drop a note here if you want me to do that. Kusma (討論) 12:50, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I had a link to it, and I found it was gone, and I can't remember what was on it. I don't feel confident enough about its content to object to its deletion on AfD, but do you know why it was deleted? Usually an objection answers a proposal, and I don't know what the proposal would say. —vivacissamamente 15:15, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- It was "an online journal of progressive news and opinion published by Working Assets" at workingforchange.com. The article was rather short, partly written in first person and read like advertising (or copyvio). Not much lost in the deletion. Sorry for not taking care of the links. DNC Corp Speedy vs PROD
Hi Kusma - can you check out under a different capitalisation - tried to put this in a {db-reason} but was too tired to get it to work properly. I'm happy with a Prod process but think a speedy is more appropriate - Peripitus (Talk) 06:42, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the link! The page was not a recreation after deletion, but made at approximately the same time, so I chose to not handle this as a contested prod (the original deletion was by prod) but just speedily deleted it. Kusma (討論) 12:47, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
You've got a Thank you card!
Dear Kusma, thank you so much for your beautiful words, your kidness and your trust in me. My Request for Adminship is finally over, and the support and appreciation that the community has gifted me will stick in my mind as long as I live. I have no way to properly express how grateful I am to you for all you've done for me, and all I can tell you is, I'll try not to disappoint you nor anyone else with my use of the buttons... and if I mess up, make sure to come here and give me a good yell! :) Seriously, tho, if you ever need my help, either for admin-related stuff or in any other way, you'll always be welcome to message me, and I promise I'll try my very best.
Dear Kusma, this is the perfect opportunity to finally speak to one another after reading your words for months and months. I am sure that we'll be able to talk often, and trust me, it'd be my pleasure. Both your contributions and, most important your warm way to deal with others made me notice you long, long ago; and being supported by a person I look up to, like you, meant the world to me. I sincerely hope this is but the beginning of a friendship, and such thought fills me with joy :) Please take good care, and ttyl! With a big hug, your friend,
August Schell Brewing Company
You speedily deleted August Schell Brewing Company, which was perfectly reasonable under the circumstances, but I think the article can be salvaged. Could you please undelete August Schell Brewing Company and add the following lines to it:
{{beer-stub}} ] ]
and then someone (probably me) can complete the article. Thanks. TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 08:35, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
- That would still be speediable under WP:CSD#A1 or WP:CSD#A3. However, I agree with you that we should have an article on August Schell, but it should be one with sufficient context and content (which should be presented as text, not just as a category link). Undeleting the external link won't help much, so I might just write the article if you don't do it first. Happy editing, Kusma (討論) 08:40, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

non-admins removing speedies
Then that makes them barely anymore useful than prod if anyone can just remove them. I thought part of the point of a speedy is to get an admin to look at the page.--Crossmr 14:29, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
- Tony Blair is an extreme example. On the other hand, Bob the Pig Farmer isn't. Sockpuppetry would be a rather obvious way to get around this and prevent speedy of any article. It probably doesn't happen too much, but I do like to look at processes critically for the potential for abuse or gaming the system.--Crossmr 14:56, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Re: Enrico Kühn - Diacritics and page moves
Hi! Recently several editors, including yourself, have reverted edits by User:Gene Nygaard which moved pages to diacriticless titles, or expressed concern at the moves on his talk page. Despite this, Gene has carried on making many moves of this type, some of which will require admin work to revert - this behaviour is becoming disruptive, and is reducing consistency in article naming schemes. Further comments, suggestions and opinions would be welcome either at User talk:Gene Nygaard or at the section started by Renata3 at WP:AN/I. I believe this may require a report at RfM - please let me know if you think this would be a suitable action or otherwise. Aquilina 16:58, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

unblock request
I'm kind of disappointed that you have unblocked the user 4m33s. He was banned for being a possible threat to the encyclopedia, since King of Hearts felt that it was likely that he was a vandal. While that assumption might seem a little overdone to you and me, King of Hearts could have had damn good reasons for it. A reason, which both you and I looked past.
I had already left a note at his talkpage where I asked for explanation, in order for him to clarify why this user was a potential danger to Misplaced Pages. If I can drop a suggestion here; perhaps...it's best not to jump to conclusions?—♦♦ SʘʘTHING 12:43, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- From the messages King of Hearts left, I assumed it was a username block, for which I could see no reason, and the user appeared to be a possibly useful contributor. Also, I understood the messages KoH left as to allow any admin to unblock the account if the admin is satisfied with the user's explanation. Well, I was satisfied, and I unblocked. Kusma (討論) 12:50, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

WCategory
Guten Tag.
16@r 23:26, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- You write in German, English, and French, that's impressive :-) Malheureusement ma connaissance de Français ne suffit pas pour contribuer beaucoup en Français. Anyway, back to the topic: You might ask at WP:VPT or file a feature request at bugzilla:. You probably need one test wiki that wants the new namespace first so people will see that it works. As I wrote on the VP, I am not convinced this is necessary, but it might be better than some of the alternatives (deletion of maintenance or user categories/ templates). Hope that helps a bit, Kusma (討論) 14:00, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Willy on Wheels deletion
Since you deleted the Willy on Wheels page after it was reposted. I was wondering if you could delete its shortcuts WP:WoW, WP:WOW and the orphaned subpages Wikipedia_talk:Long_term_abuse/Willy_on_Wheels/archive1 and Wikipedia_talk:Long_term_abuse/Willy_on_Wheels/archive2. 195.188.152.12 09:52, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
- I am not certain about the deletion of the talk archives, but have deleted the shortcuts. Kusma (討論) 09:57, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
- The archive pages are orphaned pages since the main talk page has been deleted. CSD G8 states that archives can be deleted if the main page was deleted. Plus we should delete them to stop vandals looking at their history per WP:DENY. Also two more shortcuts Misplaced Pages:Willy on Wheels and WP:ViP/WoW. 195.188.152.12 10:15, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
- WP:DENY should not be used, I see those Long term abuse pages as the online equivalent of being placed in the stocks... humiliation rather than glorification of vandals. --86.134.56.248 10:53, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
- Consider the long term abuse pages the public pillory for Willy and vandals. --86.134.56.248 11:01, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Sheynhertz' IP
It doesn't look like the block is going to be overturned, thankfully, so I'll start on the cleanup tomorrow. I intended to start on Category:Articles in translation, which will mostly be a case of removing the tag, then moving onto Category:Misplaced Pages articles needing translation. I may not get through with much of it, as I have other stuff to do and I'm going on a canal trip starting Saturday, but I'll try to make a start. The fact that he's so easily able to evade his block by switching IPs is problematic, however. I'm unfamiliar with how range blocks work - if I notice him continuing to edit, can I block the same range you did, 61.112.0.0/16, to stop him? --Sam Blanning 22:53, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
- Sounds good. Apart from the tags, I typically also removed the "Works" and "References" sections to arrive at a clean one-sentence stub. I'll try to work on turning the onomastics pages into disambiguation pages - we'll see how much can be salvaged.
- When you block the range, you block his whole ISP (65536 IPs) so you should keep the range blocks short (but I haven't heard of any other users on his ISP, so he might be the only one?). 3 hours is probably pretty long already, but we need to make it clear to him that he is not allowed to edit. Thank you for your help and the support at WP:AN! Kusma (討論) 06:24, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Samuel and Kusma. As Sheynhertz uses dial-up, as the hostnames tell, the IP address he uses may always vary when he tries to re-dial. So it is really easy for him to evade this block. We Japanese Misplaced Pages's admins have used to get hard to block him until the range block activated. We have a list of ranges of IP addresses he might use on nearly bottom of ja.wp's page ja:Misplaced Pages:投稿ブロック依頼/Vacsora関連. I wish this will help you. Thanks. Sylphie 00:57, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you. I will consider a long-time rangeblock of these IPs as a last resort. Don't you have problems with other users trying to edit from that range? Kusma (討論) 09:13, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- As far as I know, we have never received any requests for unblock those ranges, other than Sheynhertz. I think it is because that most Japanese Internet users use faster lines than dial-up modem, like optical lines, and there are few number of dial-up modem users. Sylphie 11:53, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Hello Kusma
Hello Kusma. How are you? I hope your transition back to Germany was smooth and not stressful. I also noted that someone vandalised your page and then seems to be a reincarnation of someone you have had problems in the past. Is there any way that I can help? Thanks, Blnguyen | rant-line 06:44, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- I'm fine, thank you! I hope you are as well, haven't heard from you in quite some time. My move took a long time, but was not too bad in the end :-) The user who accused me of anti-Semitism is Sheynhertz-Unbayg, who has just been banned from Misplaced Pages on my suggestion. See WP:AN#Ban of Sheynhertz-Unbayg. If you want to help, keep an eye open for edits from the 61.112 range with an edit summary of "rvv" that revert me or Samuel Blanning or anybody else trying to clean up Sheynhertz-Unbaygs's messy "onomastics" pages. As he changes IPs often, it is then necessary to block a whole range - for lazy people, the range is 61.112.0.0/16, for less lazy people the ranges linked in the post above on jawiki might suffice. You might watchlist Mahler (disambiguation), where he apparently can't stand the current state of the article. If you ask why any of this is bad enough for banning him - the articles itself are not so much a problem, it is his unwillingness to talk about them. See the RfC linked from the AN post, and you will understand. If you have a better idea than blocking him until he finds something else to do, I'm listening. Happy editing, Kusma (討論) 09:20, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
Move Request Mention
I suppose you're not the most unbiased person to ask, since you gave your opinion in the Talk:Prime Minister move request, but I'd like to know your opinion on this comment. I have no problem with Jt mentioning an open move request to the Irish Wikipedians notice board as it could potentially be of interest to them, but I'm curious whether the insertion of the statement (half upper-case, half lower-case!) is okay. To me, it sounded like unnecessary editorialization, as he's essentially saying that's preposterous! and mischaracterizing the situation (note SigPig's comment on the move request), and I fear it may have influenced the !votes of Irish users Mal, Djegan, and Bastun. I didn't want to bring this up on Talk:Prime Minister if Jt's comment is normally considered okay. -- tariqabjotu 12:13, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
- I don't want to wikilawyer on this. This kind of things is common and very often, posts on notice boards are a good thing. I don't see how a capitalization fix is interesting to Irish users, though. Thank you for staying cool when you were accused of being stupid, by the way. As the Times seems to agree with you, you're not the one who's looking stupid after all. Kusma (討論) 12:23, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
- Alright; I'll leave it be. It probably won't have an affect on the outcome of the move request anyway and I would hate to fan the flames. -- tariqabjotu 12:31, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Lebedev
I was looking through the Mikhail Lebedev page and it seems to be vanity and non-notable to me. First of all, there is hardly any information about him on Google. Then, none of the publications seem to be news-worthy and notable. Finally, the scientist does not have many 1st author publications and seems to be non-important in his field. If you agree with me, can you please help me nominate Mikhail Lebedev for deletion? --GoOdCoNtEnT 08:49, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- You're probably right, but I have no idea of neuroscience, so I am not certain how notable his research is. Certainly the list includes lots of publications that don't need to be here. - Thanks! That's why I nominated it, I also thought it was really cool when I found out. Featured article Zeppelin doesn't hve inline refs either, or I would have tried to copy some of these. Happy editing, Kusma (討論) 11:40, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Long-Overdue RfA Thanks from Alphachimp
Thanks for your support in my not-so-recent RfA, which was successful with a an overwhelmingly flattering and deeply humbling total of 138/2/2 (putting me #10 on the RfA WP:100). I guess infinite monkey theorem has been officially proven. Chimps really can get somewhere on Misplaced Pages.
With new buttons come great responsibility, and I'll try my best to live up to your expectations. If you need assistance with something, don't hesitate to swing by my talk page or email me (trust me, I do respond :)). The same goes for any complaints or comments in regard to my administrative actions. Remember, I'm here for you. (Thanks go to Blnguyen for the incredible photo to the right.) alphaChimp 01:36, 4 September 2006 (UTC) |
- You were my last support. Thanks! alphaChimp 01:36, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
- You must have had quite some work thanking everybody. Congratulations and good luck with the new buttons! Kusma (討論) 11:41, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

- Thanks! I'm busy in real life right now (a conference), but I'll consider a large-scale long-term rangeblock like on the Japanese Misplaced Pages later this week so we don't have to block his individual socks all the time. Kusma (討論) 11:39, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Translation
Hi Kusma. Just here to tell you that Magyar Cserkészlány Szövetség has been translated. However, WP:PNT is not saying how a page can be delisted. If you are as familiar with this topic as you seem, could you do that for me? It would also help if you added a quick description of how to do it to the lead section of that page. Thanks & happy editing (and/or conferencing...:)), KissL 10:33, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
- Their section can just be removed. I have done that and added that to the description on the page. Happy editing, Kusma (討論) 11:40, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

Guess who needs to be told what being banned is in Japanese?
'uggoth (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) Just to let you know, yet again. Ryūlóng 08:03, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

Electors of Brandenburg
Moin Kusma! Would you mind moving John II, Elector of Brandenburg to John, Elector of Brandenburg? The latter currently redirects to Hans, Margrave of Brandenburg, which, along with John, Margrave of Brandenburg, used to be awkwardly arranged articles about the same misnamed individual. I have corrected that half of the problem by creating John, Margrave of Brandenburg-Kulmbach. Thanks! Olessi 06:22, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
- Done. Kusma (討論) 10:40, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Cent
I don't find the overlapping box ugly; in fact I rather like it. But I hear your concern and I've addressed it. Please talk to me if you have further concerns about the appearance of {{cent}}. Thank you. John Reid 14:06, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
