Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, 82.109.66.144. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Misplaced Pages, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Misplaced Pages article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Misplaced Pages's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

August 2006

December 2006

Please do not replace Misplaced Pages pages with blank content, as you did to User talk:82.109.66.148. Blank pages are harmful to Misplaced Pages because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. Mufka 16:10, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Royal Army Chaplains' Department

Not sure why you removed the apostrophe. It is a correct part of the department's name and is also correct English. -- Necrothesp 13:02, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Your edit to Five Eyes has been reverted. Given the location of your IP you should be more than aware that the Secret Intelligence Service's logo includes the MI6 name and that this is the name referred to in all the media, including the BBC. Warning the MOD is futile.

Guys, placing repeated warnings on this page is pissing in the wind. This is a shared IP for a gateway used by everyone in the Ministry of Defence (United Kingdom), possibly well over 100,000 people. It's pointless. -LÒÓkingYourBest 16:18, 7 November 2017 (UTC)

Not futile at all. If the disruption continues, then so does the escalating blocks. They can eventually include the entire IP range. This results in longer and longer periods of protection for the project from vandalism. Some really looonng periods...
- WOLFchild 10:26, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
So of all the final warnings (hardly a final warning if they're not acted on) above, spanning back to 2006, the result so far is a 3 hour block. Surely all previous infractions should earn more than that or will we wait another decade before the next level of blocking? -LÒÓkingYourBest 10:56, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
Like I said... they build up. I just saw a similar ip account that was given a 3 month block earlier this year. A couple days ago, someone was back vandalizing with that account, so now it has been blocked for 2 years. If this account continues to disrupt the project, I'm sure it'll be looking at a lengthy block as well. - WOLFchild 20:41, 23 November 2017 (UTC)
