Inactive for next few months - though shall be around doing a little bit

Proposing a change at WikiProject India

Hi,

I'm proposing a major change related to WikiProject India. I'm trying to build a consensus. Your suggestions/views/ideas are very much valued. Please talk about it here. Cheers. -- Chez 06:07, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the information. If possible I shall surely give my inputs. --Bhadani 10:46, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thank you for the wishes, Bhadaniji! I hardly realised a year had passed. But as Robert Frost reminds me through your user page, I have miles and miles to go before I sleep. Cheers!--thunderboltz 14:41, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Karma in Hinduism

Bhadani, People keep on insisting that Hinduism's view of karma is not different from Buddhism. I say a central role for Hindus is believing that God has a role in karma. Please contribute here at http://en.wikipedia.org/User_talk:Priyanath#God_as_Divine_Accountant

Thanks for your help!

your recent post regarding the wikitravel link

Reference

Well here is the justification..For example I went to the Grand Canyon page on wikipedia which is probably the best example of a tourist destination..and in the external links section they have a wikitravel link. That would be very natural because once a visitor has learned more about Grand Canyon at wikipedia he would probably like to get travel related details that he can find at wikitravel. Hence the link and hence the importance. And then if you do the same for the Taj Mahal you would essentially do it for every tourist destination in India. How would you decide to keep it limited? And how does that mean to be promotional in any way? You have not given any justification for that. I dont think wikitravel is promotional, or linking to it being promotional in any way.

Also, Indore at wikitravel is an empty page and so is Taj Mahal at wikitravel. But I still linked it. I presume that would mean that those pages at wikitravel will have to be written at some point in time too, even though they are empty right now. Let me know if I'm wrong. The reason why I started out doing this is becuase it was my first time editing at wikipedia and I thought it would be the easy things to do before going on to do something harder. Its like getting yourself familiar and getting your feet wet. I thought that in the process I would also get familiar with what all the pages look like right now. And please dont think that I would be playing wicked games here, because its my valuable time here before anything else. In any case, I guess you are the admin here and in all seriousness you can decide on what I have written above and let me know if it still needs to be discontinued and that it is not important. Thats not a problem. Let me know what I can do otherwise to be more useful. If need be those links can be removed. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anchitk (talkcontribs) of 29.10.06

For being nice to everyone around you...

The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar
For always being nice to your fellow Wikipedians and going that extra mile to be nice (whether it be a simple birthday message or giving out an award or barnstar), I proudly award you this barnstar. Keep up the great work & best wishes, Jam01 10:11, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank you

Hi Bhadani, thank your for the barnstar. You write:

"Many do not like Indians to maintain India related pages"

It is possible that I have blinders on. I see many India related articles editted by Indians and mostly I do not see remarks suggesting that Indian editors should not be maintaining these articles. I do see that occasionally, but have thought of it as isolated editors, rather than it being widespread or an instiutional problem. Please tell me more.

this?

I had to investigate to learn what the BS on the barn star stood for, i.e. "Back Scratch". The barnstar page says it represents an "I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine" ethos, causing me to do some soul searching. I sometimes like to think of my actions as being motivated by my duty, rather than by the fruits that I might reap. But your gift has helped me to remember that we are never as noble as our pride would like us to believe. Reminders of the truth are always a gift, even if they are not universally sought after. A sweet gift, such as you have given me should not be the cause of any embarrassment. Your brother, --BostonMA 18:36, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

My response --Bhadani 12:38, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
Hi Bhadani. Do not fear that you have offended me, you have not. It is I who should apologize for misunderstanding the meaning of the slogan and causing you to worry. There is a Thanksgiving holiday in the US. It happens less these days, but from time to time I have been invited to dine with friends and feast upon a bird. Although I decline this gift because of my diet, I must still recognize the gift as a gift, made sincerely, and perhaps even with love. I know your gift is genuine, and I tried to accept it as I understood it, and I am sorry that I misunderstood. (misunderstanading based on summary here) Now I owe you a barnstar, and I shall choose one presently. --BostonMA 14:07, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi Bhadani

Hi Bhadani, Have you seen the "Glossary of terms in Hinduism" ? I have compiled large number of entries from Indian epics. You may like to see and comment. I found that "List of famous Jats" is listed for deletion. http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/List_of_famous_JatsYou You may like to vote to keep it. Is There Any Project on Islam ?

Hi Bhadani, remember me ? We had some correspondence on Holi in March. How are you ? I was inactive on Misplaced Pages for a long time. I intend to be active now and contribute as much as I can. I just joined this project on Maharashtra called Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Maharashtra, as some user New Rock Star had invited me. I will work in that project. But I also want to other projects if they are available. Especially is there any project on Islam or related ? And is there any project on cricket or football or movies ? Can you please provide me the links if projects on these topics exist.

DBACHMANN

Hi Bhadani, I know that you know about User:Dbachmann's unfortunate remarks against India and Indians. Well, I've found a novel way to make him realise his mistake - "GANDHIGIRI". And that's what I'm doing. Just though, I'd inform you. Bye. Bakar Amin 11:11, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

GANDHIGIRI -

GET WELL SOON, DBACHMANN

Dbachmann, your comments on India and Indians showed that you're not mentally healthy. And that's why, from all Indians, these wishes for you to GET WELL SOON and get back to contributing to Misplaced Pages in a great way. Thanks, Bakar Amin 11:11, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Kama & Artha are lower Purusharths is a wrong statement.

One could say for deploring Kama & Artha as lower Purusharths. It could have been said, just to make people move to Dharma & Moksha. Lot of Sanyasees try to deplore Kama & Artha, particularly Jain Sadhus try to create hate in the minds of people living family life.

Does one not need money to do one's religious duties or support Sanyasees or Brahmins or religious institutions? Krishna has said in Srimad Bhagawad Geeta that "Kama" is my "Vibhuti." In Hindu doctrines "Kama" is supported confining sexual pleasure with one's wedded spouse in the witness of fire (A form of God), Brahmin and society. Is it possible to conquer "Kama" by any average person? Vishwamitra also sliped. When Krishna declared "Kama" as Krishna's "Vibhuti" who are we to deplore "Kama"? Indian has n' number of Sanyasees. With due respect to Swami Bhaskaranandji, I say that anything said in a particular situation or a context should not be incorporated in an article like Misplaced Pages which shall remain on a public forum for a long long future. Hope everyone will see the damage being done to Hindusim and restrain from continuing with statements deploring 4 pursuits of life. Swadhyayee 14:40, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

WP:RFAr

I'm not sure whether you have already been made aware of this or whether you are acquainted with the religion-based edit wars that these users are part of. But I urge you to make a comment on WP:RFAr. Sockpuppetry, I believe, is not the main issue of this case and is instead a simple medium which BhaiSaab is using to get rid of Hkelkar and defame Bakasuprman in the process (some suggested Bakaman is Hkelkar's sock but that was soon rebutted). Nobleeagle 04:09, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Rama's arrow and Sir Nick have told me to try and not have an "us vs them" thing, but that's exactly what this RFA is. Its a cheap trick by anti-Hindu users to get rid of users sympathetic to Hindutva. Certain opportunists (cough**cough** you know who) have jumped on the Hindu user-bashing bandwagon.Bakaman Bakatalk 05:12, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
Our procedures and processes are not infallible and are susceptible to misuse too (sometimes). I have seen one of my friends charged and indefinitely blocked (after hardly 10 or 12 innocent and normal edits) as that administrator suspected that user to be a sockpuppet of a particular user already blocked: I learnt that some administrators are astrologers too! I have repeatedly told this incidence several times, and this proved to me a point: our system is subjective in many cases rather most of the cases. Had that user been not so blocked, he/she would have proved at least ten times more productive than users like me. Having experienced this and having said this, I should surely feel an attachment to wikipedia to be "fooling" around! Perhaps there are many amongst us who do not want wikipedia to emerge as the best encyclopedia as its emergence would threaten many established encyclopedias. Naturally, such elements amongst us shall always try to drive away the good and reliable editors, at least they shall try to annoy them to reduce their productivity. However, this should not be a cause for despondency and disappointment as I had found that good editors would survive in the long run. At the same time, you should also understand that the Indian nation has remained a subjugated nation for more than 1000 years, and any resurgence of Indian national pride attracts attention, mostly adverse, and people may try to defame this national pride by connoting various names to it like Hindu fundamentalism, Hindutva and so on. Some had even gone to the extent of comparing this resurgence with National Socialism to gain confidence of certain social groups! In case, I feel like giving any input in the said WP:RFAr, I would surely do - however, I am not sure of myself to be useful in such "serious affairs" of wikipedia as I am a simple editor to take part in serious business of wikipedia. I thank you for your message. Regards. --Bhadani 14:24, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

ALL INDIANS AND HUMANS PL. APPEAL TO MR.TERRYJ-HO IN STRONGEST WORD FOR HIS SUCH COMMENTS ON TALK PAGE OF Dmcdevit. Swadhyayee 14:21, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

The practice of Sati continues till this day..mostly due to religious sanction TerryJ-Ho 11:16, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

Mr.TerryJ-Ho, If, your above statement is intentional, you are doing the worst thing of tarnishing the image of our country. I do not know your back-ground. Hope you will appreciate that sentiments of any person get hurt when his/her nation/religion/societies come under false attack. How would you feel, if so done to you? India has a population of 120,00,00000. I have completed 56 years in this country and sufficiently informed about things going in this country. I have moved in villages regularly and live in Mumbai from birth. I have hardly heard of one or two instance of Sati during my life of 56 yrs. You can't help the people who wants to self immolate. We have rich & poor, educated and un-educated, modern and orthodox, good and bad all kind of people like any other country would have. Sati Pratha came in social practice because of Muslims invaded small kingdoms, killed or captured males, raped and made women folk their wives. Indians mostly were strict vegetarians. Muslims are non-veg. The women preferred death over being raped or marrying for the second time against Hindu culture and customs. The pride of woman-hood and un-civilised behaviour of Muslims are the route cause of this deprecative social system. Though people like me who borned later are also full of wounds of the root cause of Muslims behaviour. Pl. don't make fun of our pitiable social system which do not exist anymore from more than 5 decades. You shall make yourself and your society a shame for such remarks. Can you show me a single evidence that the system of Sati exist and the roots are our religion? Where did you get this information from? You are a shame Mr.TerryJ-Ho. God will not forgive you for such in-human behaviour. Swadhyayee 14:16, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
