hey, sorry about that whole picture business. I'm just learning about this website. you do what you feel is best. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mr webby (talk • contribs)
hey
as a matter of fact, it was sort of half and half. i took pictures of actual error boxes, then i just altered the wording on them.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Mr webby (talk • contribs)
ok
you're not the stupid one for seeing it wrong, i'm the stupid one for getting the tag wrong. i should read more closely.
p.s. have a look at my edits on these pages: Gregory and Jimmy. I have added a name to each list; they are both Smackdown wrestlers— Preceding unsigned comment added by Mr webby (talk • contribs)
Moving of the Esperanza and Encyclopedia discussion
Hey Ed,
Just wanted to ask about why you moved the discussion about Esperanza and the encyclopedia from Misplaced Pages talk:Esperanza to Misplaced Pages:Esperanza/Encyclopedia? The idea of keeping it on the main talk page was to get a lot of people involved in the discussion, since it regards all of Esperanza. Thanks, -- Natalya 03:30, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- I'm really sorry to see you go, Ed. Your conviction for what you believe in has always been a nice change to see around Misplaced Pages, and we will surely miss you for it. I hope you have a nice wikibreak, however long it may be, and if/when you come back, you feel better about contributing to Misplaced Pages. Good luck!
- Also, let me know about the above question. I'd like to move it back, but wanted to make sure there was no big reason that I was missing before I do so. -- Natalya 21:10, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Your WikiBreak
It's regrettable to see you leave. Too often do I see similar messages on people's pages when the leave Misplaced Pages. I understand your concerns, and sympathize, however, I cannot agree with you. I know that sometimes the average user feels that administrators are corrupted, but we can only deal with it and continue on. Remember, the only way to lose is to stay down when you're knocked down. I hope I see you soon. DoomsDay349 18:19, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- I've reread your statement. You have made good points, points brought up numerous times. Regretfully, your feeling are the feelings of many disgruntled users. I know; Misplaced Pages is flawed. But we must vest power in someone and hope they stay on the path and do not corrupt. Otherwise, we will fail. Better flawed than failed, I believe. What can I say to you about the issue of consensus? Nothing. I cannot produce a better explanation than that is simply the way of the world, and being children of this earth we can do nothing but adapt and roll with the punches. Cynical, perhaps, but it is the grim truth. You know that we will disagree; I a conservative, you a liberal. Such is the way of things. Alas, that is all I can tell you; such is the way of things. I will not tell you there is nothing you can do; perhaps there is. But, as Christ once said, you cannot remove the splinter in your neighbor's eye without first removing the beam in your own. I don't know how much effect the word of Christ will have on you; maybe you're not Christian. But it's damn good advice nonetheless. Look closely inside yourself, friend. Find your beam, and remove it. The journey may take years of work, but when it is gone, your burden will be lighter and you will find yourself able to pull the splinters from all that you meet. That is the best I can do. May you walk in peace, and find your way. DoomsDay349 18:45, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- I've also read it, and agree with you. There are some things I'm planning to do a way off in the future that I can't mention here (another flaw), but they will happen. — $PЯINGrαgђ Always loyal! 00:31, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hi Ed. I read your essay with interest, agreeing with some points, not agreeing with others, but I see where you're coming from the whole way through. reminds me of this:
- "If mankind minus one were of one opinion, then mankind is no more justified in silencing the one than the one - if he had the power - would be justified in silencing mankind." - John Stuart Mill
- Unfortuatly, such is life, or so I believe. Nothing's perfect. Anyway, I do hope you return soon, as you're a highly valued contributor here. Until you come back, best of luck mate :) Thε Halo 00:46, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Ed, I really agree with you on the essay. You brought up a really good point in our Misplaced Pages society. I hope you come back soon. You are one of the best editors I've met so far.Tennislover 02:50, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Ed, I just barely logged on saw Tenislover tell me on my talk page that you caused a lot of controversy. I checked your essay out, and I'm glad that someone finally pointed this out! Until now, people have put up with it. But hey, there's always a downside to an upside. I'm glad that you took the time to write this, and even though this will spark a lot of controversy (if it hasn't yet), this will be the first step to getting this flaw fixed. What I'm not so happy is about the possibility of taking such a long WikiBreak! You are one of the best Wikipedians here, and you're willing to help the new users (remember when you helped me with the Status thing?). Yes, you do deserve a WikiBreak (who doesn't), but just don't take a year or decade from now to finish that WikiBreak. Misplaced Pages needs people like you, and without you, we would lose a great contributor. Please don't leave, Ed, and think about what Doomsday said - The RSJ 02:26, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Ed, I totally agree with you on the statement you made. But please come back, the community needs you. I hope you come back soon. Thanks for pointing this out. We'll try to change the flaw.Tennislover 15:13, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Australian collaboration of the fortnight
Hi. You voted for United States-Australia relations for WP:ACOTF. It has been selected, so please help to improve the article in any way you can. I'm sorry to read your statement about taking a long break. Perhaps joining in this collaboration can be a positive experience for you - I presume I'm not one of the admins who have caused you problems? --Scott Davis 13:17, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
- Just as anyone can vote for WP:ACOTF, anyone can contribute. In fact given that the topic is United States-Australia relations, I specifically invited not just those people who voted, but also put a notice on Misplaced Pages talk:U.S. Wikipedians' notice board and added it to the "U.S. topics on other COTWs" section of WP:USCOTW. I think that to get the article to be unbiased, we need the American view of the relationship as well as the Australian one.
- I'm glad my few kind words helped. I posted about ten of these reminders, and about half got a few extra words based on the notices at the top of their user or talk pages. The world is a better place if people talk to you rather than at you! Even though I'd heard the kindness story before, it doesn't hurt to be reminded that sometimes a little thing for one person can be a big thing for the recipient. Thankyou for the cabbage - now I need to find a recipe for sauerkraut. --Scott Davis 05:58, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Your status?
Hey, your status thing says you're "AROUND." If you really are, then sorry, but I thought you were taking a WikiBreak. So if you get on next time, change it to out (if I'm mistaken, and you really are "around," then sorry). Thanks - The RSJ 23:31, 13 November 2006 (UTC)\
- Oh, and I read your essay on kindness. It was really powerful (it almost brought a tear to my eye, ha ha) and actually reading that essay changed my life... This is another reason not to jump the WikiShip! Sure, sometimes the WikiShip is in rough waters, but we all make it through. Oh, and here's a gift... See ya around (hopefully) - The RSJ 23:42, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I'm not a theologian, I'm just a well-spoken Catholic who can write a good speech when he needs to. I hope my words helped out. Thanks again! DoomsDay349 01:43, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
Hey! I just sent you an email. Check it out.
PS. The above smile template seems to have messed up your page's <div> style. You might want to fix it up. Cheers! --May the Force be with you! Shreshth91 04:46, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Using some templates
Hey Ed. I'm going to use some of your templates, I really like them. If you're not okay with this, please tell me. Also, how did you get to 9th grade when you're only 13? Oh. Never mind. I saw on your page you skipped first grade. I'm 12 and in 7th. TeckWizContribs# of Edits 18:11, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for telling me. I have no problem.--Ed 02:12, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Hey, Ed, thanks for coming back, the WikiShip is looking brighter already! Also, nice award you have created, thanks for giving me one! Thanks for coming back so fast - The RSJ 22:19, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

You said: "What happened? And I also noticed that her talk page was protected. Is there a chance we could unprotect it so we can discuss her unblocking?"
- She was caught editing the Misplaced Pages from yet another anonymous IP address. The problem is that she is not on a static IP so it is easy for her to continue to violate Misplaced Pages's block. I am not the person who protected her talk page, that was Yanksox, but there's really no point unprotecting it. There's simply no chance of her being unblocked at the moment, and not for at least another year, not given her continued abuse (despite the block) of Misplaced Pages policies. And given her history of continuing to abuse Misplaced Pages while blocked, I think it is unlikely she will ever merit an unblock. This is on the basis that I can't imagine her leaving the Misplaced Pages alone (and thereby not violating her block) for a full year. That said, perhaps with another year or five of maturity, she'll smarten up, be willing to abide by Misplaced Pages policies, and be willing to contribute productively. --Yamla 03:17, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
thank you
Thank you for your support...
Thank you ever so much, Ed, for your kind words and understanding in my time of need. I deeply appreciate your support, and I hope to be there for you, should you ever need help.
-Hello Ed, and thank you for thinking about E@L, for your essays, and for taking time from your Wikibreak to encourage me. I'm slowly improving, but my participation on Misplaced Pages will be rather limited during my recovery. As for your essays, I have not thus far had conflicts with administrators, and I don't know how widespread your experience is. Your other essay about kindness sends an important message about the importance of treating other people with respect, and I thank you for sharing it with Misplaced Pages. My comments on the Esperanza talk page were meant to point out that strictly speaking, essays like yours (and my depression essay) could be seen as being inappropriate for Misplaced Pages due to the policies outlined here. I don't have a personal problem with your essay remaining here, but I wanted to make you aware of the official policy. Thanks again. 20:48, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
