A new Ventura victim possibly related to the Husted slayings today. Wendy DiRodio, 61, stabbing victim in home. See this article in local paper:

:I'm removing the references to the Husted and DiRodio cases in the main article. These crimes are similar in some ways to the ONS, different in many, and being that it's been 23 years since ONS' last known homicide, I'd say it's almost certain there is no link. --] (]) 01:04, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

== Myths? ==

I have heard some things, yet none of these are mentioned on this page. I will provide a link to a page which mentions these. I'm specifically redesign to the criminal making a phone call, and leaving a message, apparently in 1991 (seems a little late?), and attending a community meeting, where someone there was targeted, plates being put on his back etc. This is one page with gives those details<ref>http://robertlindsay.wordpress.com/2012/07/03/the-east-area-rapistoriginal-night-stalker/</ref> – ] (]) 21:12, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
:I have removed most references to the three toed German Shepherd ("Woofy", as he's known), as most of what was said is myth (or at least completely unsourced), and some is simply wrong. What we know for sure amounts to the following: dog prints were found at O/M. The breed isn't certain, and while the prints appeared to show a three toed dog, investigators later determined that this might not be the case. There is no publicly available source that indicates the presence of a dog at any other scene, other than a sighting of a man with a German Shepherd near the D/S the night before the crime, and there's reason to think that the police later identified this man and cleared him. ] (]) 21:10, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

Comment: Seems that the GSK phrase is being used by the current mainstream media to retroactively include EAR's crimes as in . ] ] 11:54, 5 April 2018 (UTC)
* '''Comment''': I believe Michelle McNamara began calling him the Golden State Killer in 2013, so its use is fairly recent compared to the East Area Rapist/Original Night Stalker names. He has been referred to as the East Area Rapist since , and as the Original Night Stalker since the early 2000s, though probably earlier than that. The Golden State Killer shows a lot of results on Google, but that might be because the case has received a lot of media attention in recent years, with the FBI's renewed efforts in 2016, recent podcasts and television episodes/series that feature the name, and the fact that a lot of newer sources tend to refer to him as the Golden State Killer. ] (]) 12:38, 5 April 2018 (UTC)

I honestly thing the name should be changed back to The Original Night Stalker. That's what pretty much everyone in the true crime community calls him.
:Agreed, even in the recent press conference the police, local media, et al refer to him primarily even as East Area Rapist, essentially nobody calls him Golden State Killer except very recently, and the Google results is hardly a proper poll considering it's largely in part due to the book mentioned above -- which incidentally when asked at the conference whether the book had any impact or provided new information to the case the sheriff said "no, none at all." So I don't see why this was done. ] (]) 20:22, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
::I live in the Sacramento area, so the local media's calling him the East Area Rapist. However, the national media appears to be calling him the Golden State Killer. ] (]) 04:11, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

A map/maps, maybe with colored/shaped pins to indicate specific nature of offense / chronological group, would be far better than the current numbing list. Do ''not'' give specific addresses or pin specific addresses on the map -- vague blobby pins are fine. ]] 15:34, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
