"Skibidi" is a dance song by Russian rave band Little Big. It was released on 5 October 2018 along with their album Antipositive, Pt. 2 on Warner Music Russia. Ilya Prusikin and Lyubim Khomchuk were credited for writing.
The song became an internet meme in late 2018, in part due to the "Skibidi Challenge". The song debuted No. 1 on Tophit in the Russian Commonwealth, where it stayed for two weeks.
"Skibidi" will be included in the soundtrack for Just Dance 2020.
Music video
The music video for "Skibidi" was released alongside the song on 5 October 2018. As of 23 July 2019, the video has over 258 million views. The music video was directed by the band's producer, Alina Pyazok.
In the video, a strange, rhythmic dance is performed by everything and everyone. At the beginning of the video, the main character, played by Ilya Prusikin, dances along Akademicheskiy Pereulok in Saint Petersburg. As he dances down the road, everyone around him also dances, including; a baby in a pram, a stripper, police officers with a crook, and a dog. One scene features soloist Sonya Tayurskaya dancing in various costumes. On his way, Prusikin notices a roadside stall with televisions showing three dancers in workout gear (Russian blogger Eldar Dzharakhov, comedian Daniil Poperechniy, and musician Yuriy Muzychenko). Next, Prusikin buys vodka from a Soviet-style shop called "Kolbasa". Having drunk the vodka as he walks down the road, he heads to the home of his girlfriend (Tayurskaya), where they dance while laying on the bed. He then goes back out and a street dance battle ensues, with Russian rappers Morgenshtern and GONE.Fludd [ru] among those taking part, ending with a shot of Godzilla dancing over the city.
Skibidi Challenge
When the video went viral, Little Big challenged fans to post their own Skibidi dance videos, which they called the "Skibidi Challenge".
