Bitores Mendez lived happily with his fellow townsfolk (including ]) in a small farming ] in Europe. Made village chief, Mendez promised to make the tranquil and idyllic village even better than it ever had been. Working improved, and the village prospered. Mendez increased farming capacity by a large degree, and with the extra money, was able to build a giant mansion for himself, which he shared with his loyal and friendly citizens. He also trusted his brothers, coincidentally all named ], with extremely large and expensive 100 ] flawless rubies purchased from his father in Africa. All the Dr. Salvadors were lumberjacks equipped with chainsaws and Mendez believed that that was the best way to protect the gams. He had wanted to sell those rubies for a higher price in France and begin building a city. The village's way of life, however, would not last long. |

Shortly after Mendez's promotion to chief of the village, he befriended a man called ], who lived in a far off on an island past the famed Salazar castellan family castle. Saddler had recently spoken with the current inhabitant of the castle, a ], and had talked him into opening the great chamber where the ancient "]" of old presided. This would require great mining, however, and many men would be needed. This promised a great oppurtunity for the villagers, for a whole new line of work would be open to the men and women of the area. Mendez agreed to the plan, as he had grand plans for his village. |

After weeks of mining, the villagers and other miners finally reached the chamber which contained the Plagas. They continued through the chamber, successfully mining many samples from the underground caves of Salazar's castle. The mining had some terrible effects on the villagers before long. Many villagers became ] due to their exposure to the parasites, and soon enough, the entire village went mad, and were infected with the parasites. Outraged, Mendez ordered Saddler to stop the project immediately, but was met with much hostility, and eventually was brainwashed with the parasite just as Salazar was, and was involved in the planning to kidnap first daughter ]. Mendez, being a giant man, was an excellent host for a queen parasite, and adding insult to injury, Saddler implanted Mendez with such a parasite after a long incubation period. Mendez was cursed with the ability to infect whomever he wanted, and now had absolute control over his villagers, who viewed him God. In addition, the parasite allowed him to ramain unnjured by bullets. |

It was decided to hold the first daughter in a church in the outskirts of the village, and eventually Mendez discovered that an American agent named ] was sent to track her down. He captures and infects Kennedy with the deadly parasite, expecting only one more follower to the Los Illuminados cause. He does not attempt to kill Leon in all but their final encounter, when Bitores finally realized that he, along with Saddler had underestimated Leon's abilities. He had planned to contain Leon and wait for the virus to take its effect, but Leon managed to destroy every defense that Bitores had set up. Kennedy located Graham, and Mendez was forced to use hostile actions. Using notes scattered across the area, Mendez led Leon to a barn, where he would kill him in secret, and it would be the end of the hostility caused by Kennedy's arrival. Mendez stands over seven feet tall, and because of his exposure to the parasite, possesses superhuman strength. |

When encountered by Kennedy, he was set ablaze by an explosive barrel of gasoline located in the barn, and the Plaga inside him turned him to a fierce beast (a strange mix between a centipede, a human, and a scorpion). After the loss of his legs in the battle, he still resisted and instead hung from the ceiling as he attacked the interfering agent. He was conquered, however, as Leon aimed, shot, and killed. Mendez, dead long ago and controlled by the Plagas, was destroyed. Kennedy took only his eye, necessary to open the gates leading to Salazar's castle. |
