This page is NOT for challenging the outcome of deletion discussions or to address the pending deletion of any page.

    Shortcuts

Requests for undeletion is a process intended to assist users in two cases. The first case is restoring pages or files that were uncontroversially deleted via proposed deletion, under certain speedy deletion criteria (such as maintenance deletions (G6) or stale Articles for creation drafts (G13)), or in deletion debates with little or no participation other than the nominator. In the second use case, this page is also intended to serve as a central location to request that deleted content be "userfied", i.e., restored as a draft or emailed to you; this way, the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). Be clear as to which namespace is intended, when requesting the restoration of a deleted article.

This means that content deleted after discussion – through deletion processes – may in some cases be provided to you, but such controversial page deletions will not be overturned through this process but through deletion review instead. Copyright violations and attack pages will not be provided.

    Do not request that pages or media deleted under speedy deletion criteria F7, F9, F11, U5, A7, A9, A11, G3, G4, G10, G11 or G12 be undeleted here.

    Instructions for special cases:

    Sergei Millian

I, codyave, am requesting an undeletion for Sergei Millian.

I created a new wikipedia page for Mr. Millian a couple of days ago, but he has just informed me on Twitter that he had an active page many years ago. He says, however, that sometime in January 2017, it was deleted without his awareness (he has provided screenshots in his tweet as proof).

At the time of deletion, he was a public figure, and reportedly is currently involved in the FBI's investigation into Trump-Russia collusion.

    Codyave (talk) 20:35, 30 May 2020 (UTC)

To be clear, I would be okay with the page being fully reverted back to its c. 2017 state.

Not done Nothing to undelete that I can see. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:37, 31 May 2020 (UTC)

    Hmm...interesting.

Just for clarificiation: this means there are no records of a wikipedia page for Sergei Millian, prior to the one I just created a few days ago, right? Codyave (talk) 16:14, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

Look at the history https://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Sergei_Millian&action=history where you will see that there was a version. I cannot see any history logs that it was deleted or restored though. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 04:17, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
Agree. No article ever existed at Sergei Millian until your creation on the 29th, barring something unusual like the whole thing being oversighted. —Cryptic 15:30, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
Graeme Bartlett, I'm not sure if I totally understand what happened, so bear with me, and please help me understand it. It appears that JJMC89 took my sandbox/research subpage and redirected it the non-existent Sergei Millian, thus creating an article with the history of my sandbox. That made it possible for Codyave to then create the article. I have no problem with the creation of the article. It was needed. I do have a problem with my private subpage being used in the process. Now my subpage is gone, and its history is part of the new article. I want my subpage and its history restored, and that part of the Sergei Millian article history removed. Codyave should have a "clean start" for his article.
JJMC89 made my page a redirect and deleted its content. (The article history shows that the size of the deleted content at the redirect matches the size of the existing content when the article was created.) That is so wrong. I have never seen that done before. My subpage should not have been touched, much less deleted. I have requested on their talk page that they fix it, but they do not respond.
Here's the log for the redirect. Pinging Muboshgu, as they too should look at this. -- Valjean (talk) 15:16, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
Holy shit! This gets weirder. I just noticed the dates for the merge in that log, and see that the merge was done the next day, after Codyave had started his article. What the heck happened here? -- Valjean (talk) 15:17, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
It happened right after the creation of this thread. -- Valjean (talk) 15:30, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

@Codyave: did you find my subpage and start editing it and use it as the start of your article? What's the timeline here? -- Valjean (talk) 15:20, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

Looks like User:JJMC89 history merged Codyave's article and your sandbox. I don't see any obvious justification for it; they seem editorially independent. —Cryptic 15:30, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
I agree. There is no need for attribution as they are completely independent. -- Valjean (talk) 15:31, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
This is weird. But, resolved? – Muboshgu (talk) 15:38, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
@Muboshgu: it isn't resolved yet. I want my subpage restored, with its history, and for the new article's history to start fresh, without any mention of the history from my subpage. I have never seen this happen before. It is very weird. -- Valjean (talk) 16:50, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
Valjean, it is, and I still don't really understand what happened. This was done by JJMC89, and they should undo it. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:53, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
I left two messages on their talk page, but they will not respond. What happened is not an unforgivable sin (maybe just poor judgement?), but the lack of a response is concerning behavior for an admin. Poor judgement is human, but maturity requires accepting responsibility, and that is a requirement for an admin if they wish to retain their position/tools. -- Valjean (talk) 19:13, 2 June 2020 (UTC)
Still no response, so pinging here: @JJMC89: -- Valjean (talk) 23:09, 5 June 2020 (UTC)
Valjean, I'll look into this later today. I'm not at my home base atm. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:36, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
Muboshgu I remembered wrong. It turns out that my subpage's history was not deleted, so I have just reverted. It appears that JJMC89 has removed the history from my subpage from the so it now starts fresh. That's good.
There is an improper edit warring deletion which I shouldn't touch, but someone else needs to restore the proper content to the lead, and the IPs need to be stopped. Maybe protect the article.-- Valjean (talk) 16:20, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

Spartaz, any objections? – Muboshgu (talk) 00:21, 4 June 2020 (UTC)
Any update on this? In the meantime, would you please email me the article or put it in my sandbox? — Kcmastrpc (talk) 12:36, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

Forced conversion to Islam in Pakistan

There was nothing wrong on this page. Forced conversion is happening in Pakistan. The deletion should be undone. If the heading of the Page seems like attacking a particular religion (i.e Islam), then it could be changed to just "Forced conversion in Pakistan". I don't think it's a good idea to delete a whole wikipedia page which is about about grave human rights violation in Pakistan —Banksboomer (talk) 08:42, 6 June 2020 (UTC)

Not done – this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion. After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:28, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

    Yofavgirlasia

Yofavgirlasia. I did not do anything wrong just like people who write about Abraham Lincoln. I was writing about someone i know and someone i know who will make history. I did not give out there social media at all so its not like i was promoting them. I was staring information about them just like what everyone else does. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:C9:180:3A0:B1A7:7E9:1EA9:A869 (talk) 17:39, 6 June 2020 (UTC)

Note: Surely you jest! No page's ever existed under that title (or any reasonable permutation of it) in any reasonable namespace! Are you sure that the page's title, capitalisation and all, is correct? As you're requesting this from an IP, I can't look in userspace. Misplaced Pages is not for those who in your opinion will be famous someday; it is for those who already have some fame/notoriety. —A little blue Bori v^_^v 18:00, 6 June 2020 (UTC)

Please continue to work on the draft so that it meets Misplaced Pages's policies and guidelines for inclusion and then submit it for review—at the least, prior to another six months elapsing. Soft deleted at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Arise from Darkness. Hello, I'm requesting that the article be moved to the Draftspace, so that I may improve it and see if someone can review it (I have conflict of interest because I'm part of the film studio). An editor proposed the deletion and all of the movie and studio articles were deleted. I am suspecting an intentional reprisal due to the fact two days prior an email was sent to our film studio asking for precise wordage to be removed from several of our Misplaced Pages articles in relationship to a movie. Within 48 hours all of the studio and movie pages on Misplaced Pages were proposed to deletion, claiming that none of the references used were valid (a reviewer checked and published the article years ago, with those same references). I understand that there may be discrepancies, but can there be such a wide criterion to evaluate a group of references? Thank you very much for your help. —Michael.j.schwartz (talk) 20:36, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

Attempted to contact XfD closer contacted at User talk:Yunshui#All India Sunni Jamiyyathul Ulama first but no response within 48 hours (closer seems taking a short break from WP and is certainly entitled to RL) so coming to WP:RFU for refund. Not done – this page was deleted as a blatant advertisement under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion and Misplaced Pages is not to be used as a vehicle for promotion. This does not necessarily mean a suitable article on this topic cannot be created. If it is a notable topic, e.g., multiple reliable, secondary, published sources that are entirely independent of the subject have written about it in substantive detail (not just mere mentions), then a neutrally written article may be possible. This one was written like a commercial. The page was not a draft, but an article, and was in my view rather promotional. Two deleting admins felt the same. I will therefore not undelete it, but I would be willing to extract thje cited sourcees and send them by email to be used as the basis of a fresh article. Heller may well be notsble, but the previous textm is not a good starting place in my view, Productionguru008. DES DESiegel Contribs 15:31, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

Sorry, as you found out, I left out Draft:. @DESiegel: a question: Why is an interview article not contributing to the notability? One interview alone will be insufficient but it still gives an indication of the notability. —- Taku (talk) 20:56, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
Actually, TakuyaMurata, it depends on the kind of interview. In what might be called the classic interview, the reporter or interviewer asks short, often rather generic questions, and the subject gives relatively long and detailed answers. In that kind of piece, all the significant detail is in the subject's words, so it is considers as being much the same as the subject posting an essay on his or her own website, or perhaps writing an op-ed for a newspaper. It ism not an independent source so it doesn't help establish what others have to say about the subject. Here at Misplaced Pages, we define notability largely in terms of what independent and reliable sources have written about the subject. Since an article should not be primarily based on what a subject has to say about him- or herself,. in the absence of independent sources, there is nothing to write. Once notability is clearly established, interviews or statements by the subject or the subjects associates or employer can be sued to support specific facts, but should not the the main support of the article.
There is, however, a different kind of interview, where the reporter uses answers from the subject as the basis for extended comments and/or analysis. That kind of interview is independent, and can help establish notability. Brut that kind is less common, particularly in celebrity journalism, so we mostly advise new edsit5ors not to count on interviews, rather than get into possibly endless arguments about which interviews should or should not count. Do read our guideline on the notability of individual people. DES DESiegel Contribs 21:21, 9 June 2020 (UTC)
@DESiegel: I think I understand now: an interview can be a primary source (after aL. the answers are given by a subject). What I meant was more like: the subject is unlikely a no-body since he was doing an interview (but anyway I will investigate further on the notability of this particular subject). —- Taku (talk) 21:37, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
TakuyaMurata, that line of reasoning: "If X was interviewed by major-source-Y, X must be notable" used to get some traction on Misplaced Pages. But it was found to be far too often the case that journalists would interview anyone with some temporary name recognition, especially people who are briefly "celebrities", and that planting interviews is a common PR technique, but one hard to detect, and so interviews are now taken as no evidence for notability at all, unless they also include independent comment of s0ome sort. And by saying that an interview is a primary source you fall victim to a frequent confusion here, the problem is not that it is primary, but that it is not independent. Sources affiliated with a subject are usually primary, but many primary sources are independent. For example, an eyewitness account of a crime is (usually) independent of the victim or the accused, but it is still a primary source. So are police reports and most other government records. And a biased, partisan source might be secondary, but not independent (this is an unusual situation). Independent p0rimary sources sometimes contribute tyo notability, but most often not. Sources that are secondary, independent, and in depth are the needed evidence of notability. Without them there would be little to write beyond a stub, even when notability can be established in some other way (say by winning a notable award). DES DESiegel Contribs 00:25, 11 June 2020 (UTC)
DESiegel I had to reread your reply a few times. Ok, yes, I can see that an interview that is essentially a part of some promotion works of the subject cannot be used to establish the notability. I think that last part is the key; Misplaced Pages articles need to be written based on some significant, secondary independent coverage of the subjects; interviews are often not such.
Somehow related question: is there a place to ask other editors whether a given topic is notable or not? Tea house perhaps? Or should there be one? not just for draft articles. As I go through (deleted or not) draft articles, I frequently come across ones that I find hard to tell whether or not about notable topics (I know I am not alone with such a difficulty.) -- 06:46, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

    Hello,

I have looked up the deletion thread and found that it merits a challenge, contest and hopefully the reinstating of either my entry or the one from 2015 of which I only have a recollection of and would like a copy of it. Please direct me to the right place to get it.

I copied and pasted the bit about the base to which the original article got deleted: • Seems like a pretty obvious Keep. ...Just kidding. Delete - so non-notable that I don't even know the movies. - New Age Retro Hippie (talk)(contributions) 20:41, 25 March 2015 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/Rona De Ricci.

    1. The previous bit records editor Wgolf (see link) to either mock or question: “Actress who has an amazing 2 roles and has not been in anything since”. This seems to be the base of his imitative to delete the article (2015). I challenge the implication that imposes a continuous (future) work as criteria to value previous work. I could list people that have produced one public work and stopped (reasons abound), and yet their mention is justified, including in Misplaced Pages. However, I will pick one to simplify the example: author J.D. Salinger.

The editor, New Age Retro Hippie, assumes that if he (even!) doesn’t know the movie than it’s non-notable. How closed-minded and ignorant. Will information and knowledge be limited to whether one person knows of a certain fact, opinion, concept, etc. to be open to all or not?

    2. Her performances in those films produced interest and positive reviews, notably an article about her and another actress, which was included as a reference in both the original article (not mine) in 2015 and mine. Please see the entries.

    3. Finally, I would like to ask this: if both films merited a Misplaced Pages entry and are built on the cast's work then why the actress in the female starring role doesn't? After all, she is what made that film (along with the other actors, etc.) 'notable'. How come the parts don't make up the sum?

I uploaded a JPG image of the actress along with the entry yesterday (June 8th, 2020). I have the copyright, and it is of professional quality. The entry by itself is short and simple (as recommended) and consists only of information.

I used the form indicated to retrieve a copy of my entry, following the instructions but was unsuccessful. Could you please help? Also, I would like to see a copy of the original entry from 2015 (again, not mine). It has apparently triggered the speedy delete of my entry.

Thank you, Rootview (talk) 15:40, 10 June 2020 (UTC) Rootview

    Fwd:

Hi Mark, Nathaniel (photo submissions at Misplaced Pages), and Gary, I am forwarding Mark Turpin's (copied here) letter granting permission to use the four photos for my Puppets Against AIDS draft Misplaced Pages entry. Below the ticket number are links to the four photos uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. To clarify, after I originally uploaded the photos, the pictures were nominated for deletion because I do not hold the copyright on the photos; Gary Friedman (copied here), creator and former director of Puppets Against AIDS, holds the copyright on the photos. The photos were taken by late-Gisele Wulfsohn in Johannesburg. Since Gisele passed away and Gary holds the copyright, Misplaced Pages asked Gary to have Gisele's heir use the Misplaced Pages templates to grant a release under Creative Commons to put the photos in the public domain. Mark Turpin is Gisele's heir and I am forwarding his letter because he had difficulty using the Wikimedia/Wikipedia upload. Thank you, Nathaniel and Wikimedia/Wikipedia, for your assistance in this matter. See below. Best wishes, Marcy Winograd

    1708 Gallery

    {{subst:refund|1= 1708 Gallery |2= The wikipedia article provides valuable links to information concerning the 1708 Gallery. A non profit Art Gallery in Richmond Virginia founded in 1978. It's deletion serves no purpose that I can think of as an artist from Virginia. }

    • Not done – this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/1708 Gallery, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, JBW (talk · contribs). After you do so, if your concerns are not addressed and you still seek undeletion, a request may be made at deletion review. – Muboshgu (talk) 22:33, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

    Cleaning up User:JzG's mess

JzG intended to roll back a few of my edits wrapperifying welcome templates but instead accidentally rolled back well over a hundred of my unrelated template edits dating back years, including these deletions. Some time ago, I got into a content dispute, which led to my section being reverted, and the single non-free image being orphaned and deleted. I ended up taking a wikibreak, and after returning, I restored my content with no problems. since the image is fair use and helps illustrate the material (Decipherment_of_rongorongo#Dietrich, more specifically Decipherment_of_rongorongo#Gallery), and since it won't be orphaned now that the section is back up, I'd appreciate having it restored, TIA (pardon me if I've made any formatting errors) —Xcalibur (talk) 01:12, 14 June 2020 (UTC) Xcalibur (talk) 01:12, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
