Image copyright problem with Image:Blackmail-group.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Blackmail-group.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Misplaced Pages's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well. For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Fair use rationale for Image:Mac Os X.gif
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Mac Os X.gif. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Misplaced Pages articles constitutes fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. AlistairMcMillan 13:46, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:Blackmail.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Blackmail.JPG. Misplaced Pages gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Misplaced Pages, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. 13:05, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
Edit summaries
When editing an article on Misplaced Pages there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. -- Funky Monkey (talk) 15:29, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Audioslave logo.gif, has been listed at Misplaced Pages:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. I reverted your edit to the SpongeBob SquarePants controversy article because it was vague and did not include a reference to back up the statement you made. The edit was in good faith--if you can find a reference and make the statement more specific feel free to add it. - Jared 12:54, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

Image tagging for Image:Mario Matthias.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Mario Matthias.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Misplaced Pages's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. Unspecified source for Image:Vanessa Y!Music.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Vanessa Y!Music.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Misplaced Pages (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Misplaced Pages:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 14:57, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Substantial image problems
The images you are uploading are missing mandatory information. For copyrighted images, you need to identify the source, the copyright holder, provide an accurate license and reason for that license, and a detailed hand-written fair-use rationale for each use of the image. Please refrain from uploading any more images until you have gone back and added this information to all of the images you have already uploaded. Misplaced Pages takes image copyright and fair-use violations very seriously. Thanks. --Yamla 14:57, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
- Note specifically that if you use the promophoto tag, you need to provide some evidence that the image came from a promotional kit. --Yamla 14:58, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Your edit at Netherlands...
Why have you done this? I'm just wondering because Netherlands (nl:Nederland) is not the same as the Kingdom of the Netherlands (nl:Koninkrijk der Nederlanden), it is only the European part. —MC Snowy (Talk | contribs) 17:19, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
STOP!
STOP! Please do not remove tags from pages, particularly images, without resolving the underlying problem. An example of this is your recent edits to Image:Vanessa Y!Music.jpg where you removed the fair-use disputed tag without providing the mandatory detailed fair-use rationale, and where you removed the no source tag without providing a specific source. --Yamla 14:46, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Regarding the SpongeBob WikiProject
Attention, member of Wikiproject SpongeBob SquarePants. This project is up for deletion at this page. ForestH2 has become a sockpuppeter and is being blocked from Misplaced Pages. So, he will most likely not return. (along with his sockpuppets.) The board of the project has been very controversal. I am removing the board (as it is contoversal and wont really matter) as a result. This project can improve if it can undergo clean-up (which i am in the process of) But, most of all, it needs to be kept. So, I hope you can support this project from its time of inactivity and save it from deletion, then we can continue to improve SpongeBob SquarePants articles. I would hope that you would support with me, but please voice your opinion by clicking here: Misplaced Pages:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Wikiproject SpongeBob SquarePants. Thank-you. -AMK152 17:07, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:SpongeSeason 3.jpg
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:SpongeSeason 3.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Misplaced Pages articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. I was not able to find a fair use rationale for the image on the site

How is that a reason for unblocking? If you can't justify Misplaced Pages:Fair use for an image, then don't upload it to begin it. We have to take this seriously because Misplaced Pages:Copyrights are a legal liability for us. Block upheld. -- Netsnipe ► 05:18, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Fair use rationale
You said: "Hello there, I would just like to inform you that I have added the fair use rationales for the respective images that you mentioned. If there is anything wrong, please reply on my talk page. However, there is user named Zany zacky that I would like to report about. He is repeatedly using wikipedia as an advertising service to create SpongeBob DVD articles and he's directly copying text from websites where the DVD is sold. You're an admin, so you deal with these matters, because he is really confusing the members of the SpongeBob WikiProject of which I am as well, so please help us out here. Thanks!"
- I see you do, Suduser85. Thank you very much, your efforts are much appreciated. I'm sorry I didn't respond to your email, life has been rather hectic recently. Anyway, I'll take a look at the user you mention. --Yamla 14:41, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
Firefox browser
Hi Suduser85! No problems that I can see via Firefox 1.5.0.7 on Windows, and I haven't noticed any problem via the slightly earlier version I use on OSX.
Things to try:
First, clear your cache, close Firefox, reopen and try the page again. A corrupt cache can cause all sorts of problems.
Next, a quick test - can you run Firefox in its Safe Mode? Here's how. Then visit the broken pages. If they're still broken, then there's probably a bug. If they're not broken, then your browser is and you'll need to uninstall (not just disable) all your extensions and themes and then add them back one at a time until the page breaks again. The last one added was the one that did it.
Finally, try searching Bugzilla for the symptoms, in case anyone has reported similar issues. If no one has, report it yourself but be very specific (screenshots are handy, exact articles and URLS are a must). You'll be asked to do the two things above, so make sure you do them first!

Image:The Rasmus.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:The Rasmus.JPG. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Misplaced Pages articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Chowbok ☠ 16:56, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Rockwood.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Rockwood.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Misplaced Pages and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fritz Saalfeld (Talk) 14:14, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
