I am Kurt. I used to edit here a lot (and in the process made a lot of ignorant and hurtful remarks which I regret and of which I am quite ashamed); eventually, I realized how wrongheaded I had been. I'm now getting on with my life, working on a Ph.D., and am much happier than I used to be. |

I am a radical ardent Libertarian Individualist Objectivist extremist, and seek nothing short of the entire destruction of socialism and collectivism in my lifetime. Paradoxically, then, some of my favorite writers happen to be self-described socialists such as George Orwell and (fellow Hoosier/fellow Kurt) Kurt Vonnegut, although my appreciation of the latter has waned as I have realized that his stories have no plot whatsoever. |

I will, almost reflexively, vote '''Keep''' or '''Merge''' in every VfD I come across unless the topic is just blatantly inappropriate (basically, if the subject is utterly and indisputably non-notable) OR if the topic itself is worthy but the article is such that to meet standards of NPOV and tone it would have to be totally scrapped and started over from scratch anyway. But if the topic is worthy and the article has any redeeming aspects at all, I will vote to keep--that way it provides a starting point for anyone who might want to just make one or a series of incremental improvement(s) but might be intimidated by the work involved in starting something totally from scratch. Anything that makes it more likely that someone who has something worthwhile to contribute will contribute it is a good thing. |
