"all things historical"

Thank you for quality articles about history, from personal influence such as Winston Churchill to large time frames such as Bury F.C. and 10th millennium BC with scientific background, for good sports at the 1903 FA Cup Final, for reviewing articles towards good and highest quality, - Roy, take care, you are an awesome Wikipedian!

You are recipient no. 2446 of Precious, a prize of QAI. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:03, 23 September 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Gerda, and thank you ever so much. This is a cup of cheer because I'm dealing with a lot of problems in real life at present, hence the unavailable notices. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel (hopefully not the train) and I should be back to normal before long. Thank you again and make sure you keep safe. All the very best. No Great Shaker (talk) 13:06, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
I am happy that you saw it as cheer as meant, and see that you and your wife could use a lot of it. Music works best for me, - take what you like. I know that bringing an established article to GA quality is extra hard (Clara Schumann, Jessye Norman). Thanks for doing such things, - nice to meet you! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 18:02, 23 September 2020 (UTC)
To keep things here cheerful, yes, I do believe that comparison to a certain individual is a personal attack. Please consider striking, and apologizing. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:29, 15 November 2020 (UTC)
Hello again, Gerda. Hope you are well. Yes, you are right. I retaliated because it is completely unacceptable to be accused of conducting a review in bad faith. I'll strike the Trump comment and apologise in the edit summary. I like your November image, by the way. It looks like an ideal place for a walk. All the best and keep safe. I've managed to grow dahlias in some past years but not always. I see you have sunflowers too and I tried growing a few of those this year, starting them in the greenhouse and then planting out but the weather won and I lost them. Always next year. No Great Shaker (talk) 09:13, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
Good luck next year. My small garden would not have room for them, and be too shady, - I "pick" them with the camera. Of the 12 images this year, eight were taken in walking distance. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:19, 24 September 2020 (UTC)
Wonderful prose and brilliantly researched, thank you. No Swan So Fine (talk) 10:06, 24 September 2020 (UTC)

Prežihov Voranc GA Nomination

Hello - Life has intervened somewhat on enjoying Misplaced Pages so I apologise for my tardiness in this matter. As far as I recall the article on Prežihov Voranc was not put forward by me for good article status. I wrote a start page many years ago and a Slovene Wikipedian took the article aand rewrote most of it. Looking at it after a period of some years I appreciate it hasn't got enough citations (not easy to find in English I think) to earn GA status. Did I nominate in error? If I did I am sorry for my folly. I am happy to look for better / more references but I do not think I am a good fit to get Prežihov Voranc to GA status. I did nominate my article on Thomas Medwin sometime ago but have not yet heard anything on that one. I do appreciate your work in editing and reviewing.Dorkinglad (talk) 12:56, 18 October 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Dorkinglad. Not your fault about the article and I'm sorry I had to fail it. All the best. No Great Shaker (talk) 13:08, 18 October 2020 (UTC)

Bury in the early FA Cup

Hello. Couple of things might help: you may not be aware that Richard Rundle's admirable FCHD doesn't include the early rounds of qualifying for seasons before the Second World War, and you might find one or two of the sources at List of Bury F.C. seasons useful. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:33, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

Hello, Struway2. You're right, it is useful. Thanks very much. No Great Shaker (talk) 14:45, 20 October 2020 (UTC)

Review

Regarding 12B, could you do a re-review. I fixed the issues. --TamilMirchi (talk) 04:37, 30 October 2020 (UTC)

Hello, TamilMirchi. Sorry, but I don't think I should. Having completed a full review already, that is a significant contribution to the article and one of the GA review rules is that the reviewer must be someone who has not previously been involved with the article. There is a GAN backlog drive at present so there is a good chance of someone else picking it up soon. No Great Shaker (talk) 17:00, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
