Honorifics and salutations

I spent some time a while back removing instances of "Sri" from the Autobiography article. This is an encyclopedia article, not an article by believers for believers. We do not use the honorific "Sri" to prefix names on Misplaced Pages. If the Misplaced Pages article on Yukteshwar is Yukteswar Giri, that's what we use. We also generally do not prefix names with Mr., Ms., or Dr. Please leave these out. Yworo (talk) 01:16, 14 September 2012 (UTC)

Thanks - I left this note on the Autobiography talk page - Thank you Yworo for showing me how to better link to a wiki page. In regards to Sri Yukteswar, I remembered that Misplaced Pages doesn't use Sri but the reason I left it in was because that was how Yogananda referred to him in his autobiography. An encyclopedia should reflect the reality of usage. Swami Kriyananda is generally not called "Kriyananda", but "Swami Kriyananda". Misplaced Pages should reflect usage, not attempt to mold it. Also, I notice that Swami Vivekananda is still "Swami Vivekananda" here, praise God, and 'Paramahansa' of 'Paramahansa Yogananda' remains. (See also 'Swami Ramakrishnananda', 'Swami Shivananda', etc.) That inconsistency reflects an arbitrary attitude by WP editors, in my opinion. Also, calling a fellow editor a 'vandal' publicly when you have a disagreement is not helpful or professional. Jack B108 (talk) 18:22, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

Swami is an honorific title whereas Paramahansa of Paramahansa Yogananda is his name. Swami or Sri Paramahansa Yogananda would not be appropriate on wikipedia. Perhaps the other pages you mentioned still need to be corrected. Feel free to do so. The reason I wrote vandal is because you took out and disregarded the whole section called Legal Cases and not only removed legitimate third party references and a more neutral tone, but then added POV words and references with at least one external one promoting a particular website outside of wikipedia and changing the name to Controversies which is not a heading used in Misplaced Pages. Red Rose 13, you clearly do not understand what a Misplaced Pages 'vandal' or the act of WP 'vandalism' is. You just threw that charge out at an editor that changed the Paramahansa Yogananda page with the last 12 hours. It's completely inappropriate for you to use that term to describe edits that are made in good faith, with careful thought, but with which you disagree. It's basically slander the way you throw it about, in the microcosm of Misplaced Pages. Jack B108 (talk) 14:21, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

What would you call it then when an editor like yourself, who seems experienced, completely removes a complete section which has 3 reliable, third party references and a neutral tone. Replaces the section from something 3 years ago (your words - 2010) using the word Controveries as the title (which wikipedia does not use) with POV words and references with one promoting an external website? If what you did is a mistake, then let's let it go as a Good Faith edit? Perhaps it would help you if read the Misplaced Pages guidelines on editing, NPOV, spamming external websites, etc... Also, remember I asked for you to take this to the talk page of the article in discussion, if you want to improve the section. The person who took out the a in Paramahansa knows the spelling is correct because the title of the page is Paramahansa Yogananda. What would you call it? Intentional disruptiveness? Editions listings

Please only list the first printing of each edition. We don't list every printing or impression, only each edition. I've taken these unneeded listings out before with a comment as to why I removed them, but you keep adding them back. Please stop this. Yworo (talk) 18:42, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

Let me guess... Autobiografia de um Iogue? The article is bad, but it was really worse in the past. Now, if you change too much too soon someone is likely to revert it. I recommend doing it slowly. Change a section, see if anyone disagrees and it remains, move to another one. Eventually we can reach a better page... Paramahansa Yogananda

Thank you for your contribution to the above. I recently aligned the dates and spellings of the article, but I notice that you seem to have taken exception to these. Kindly note that the subject is an Indian national and there are no indications that he ever abandoned Indian nationality or took on another. By that token, it seems that American styles are not appropriate to the article as WP:TIES and WP:ENGVAR would apply to the spellings and dates. Regards, -- Ohc  01:58, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to the article but Paramahansa Yogananda moved to the US in 1920 lived in the US for the rest of his life (1952). During that time he became a US citizen. This article was created in American English and punctuation many years ago. Please notice the name of his organization is spelled with a z - realization not realisation. Delete "mahasamadhi" as cause of death: unverifiable

And if you bothered to read my comment on Paramahansa Yogananda, you would have seen I plan to work on the Mahasamadhi page to help bring understanding, clarity and education to Misplaced Pages users regarding this subject. The mission statement content you added was copied from another website, and thus was a violation of Misplaced Pages's copyright policy. Please don't add copyright material to Misplaced Pages. The major issues you have are - reliability of Kutleša's book and my alleged misuse of the Croatian sources? Hopefully, we'll be able to check the latter in a few days. I asked help from other editors who might speak Croatian/Serbian.
