Hey Epicgenius! I recently saw your DYK nomination for ] and saw that you achieved a massive amount of editing. It is a fantastic article (as an architecture nerd, right in my ballpark as well). I was wondering how you were able to find so many sources on the building (an over 20x expansion on the previous reflist). :{{u|A. C. Santacruz}}, thanks for the compliment. For the sources, I used to get free access to newspapers.com and ProQuest. There's an especially large amount of coverage on buildings in the northeastern United States, though, particularly in the NYC area. I can't guarantee that other areas of the US or world have similar amounts of architectural coverage. (I also have architectural books about NYC buildings specifically, but that accounts for only a minority of the sources on that page, and I also can't guarantee that other regions have such deep bibliographical coverage about buildings.) ] (]) 15:31, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
Once again, very impressive work on very important station complex and line articles. There is more to be added about the change in BMT plans re:Canal Street. Eventually, ] should be its own article. Also, the citations for ] are really messed up and include self-published sources like nycsubway.org, and there is more history that could be added. A lot of my older GA nominations should be looked at again for things like this. Also, for Union Square, it is worth mentioning the impromptu 9/11 memorial, and the post-2016 election post-it notes (https://mashable.com/article/power-of-post-it-note-protest-subway-therapy, https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/post-it-notes-left-union-square-election-preserved-article-1.2913344, https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2016/12/19/post-election-subway-therapy-sticky-notes-taken-down-but-not-thrown-out/, https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/16/nyregion/subway-election-therapy-wall-sticky-notes.html). ] (]) 14:25, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
:@], the pleasure is mine. I do agree that the ] should get its own page in the future. I've also noticed that there's a lot more that can be said about the Broadway-Seventh Avenue Line, especially its construction, and will have to work on it gradually. The biggest mess, though, is the Canal Street article - there are a lot of details about the BMT station that are just not mentioned at the moment, and the article in general needs more refs.{{pb}}As for the Union Square station, the article already mentions both the 9/11 memorial and the post-it wall (the second paragraph of ]). I thought one paragraph would be sufficient, seeing as how the artwork was not sanctioned by the MTA but seems to be covered by multiple reliable sources. – ] (]) 14:38, 2 May 2023 (UTC)

:::It also is probably worth mentioning in the Clark Street article. ] (]) 15:30, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
::::I agree and can get around to that soon. In the meantime, I was looking at the study for Union Square, which says: {{tq|This technology does not meet ADA standards, and since there is currently no technology that does, there is no fully accessible solution for the southbound platform. We are including an option for providing elevator service to this platform in this report with the understanding that this will not provide a fully accessible solution at this time.}} So I suppose this means the southbound platform ''can'' get an elevator, it just won't be ADA-accessible because gap fillers, by their very nature, are ADA-inaccessible. – ] (]) 15:47, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
:::::Yeah. Also, unrelated, but the 1990 Clark Street Tunnel fire was very notable, and there were major reports done on fire safety/communication, etc. in its aftermath. It would warrant an article of its own. ] (]) 16:06, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
::::::I also think the 1990 Clark Street fire should get its own article. (I think the fire happened just east of the Clark Street station, though, not in the tunnel under the river.) Dear Epic, I am Italian, I love NYC and above all the mytichal NYC subway. I know that also you are a great lover of the NY subway and maybe you can help me. I think that wiki is a fantastic thing and should not be a dictatorship! I love the NY subway and NYC stations pages. But there is a problem. A wikipedia's administrator, incredibly threatened to block me from editing only because I updated the old (many of the 2009...) images of the subway entrances, I just put other subway entrances (see the 59th St Columbus Circle, Fulton Center and 42nd Times Square stations for example) and above all I put subway entrances and platform images where there were images of streets without stations or even restaurant interiors...(only for example, to see the Franklin Street station)! I lost a lot of hours (and many nights) in this huge work because I love the NYC subway. I also love Misplaced Pages and I think that is it necessary to correct the evident errors. In many images it wasn't possible to see many entrance stairs and I, with an infinite patience, have updated them! I think that these were important contributions to improve the NY subway page and as a thank you now I can't see the subway entrances of Google streets on the wiki pages...

Now this person is taking off all the google map street view entrances of the NY subway stations!!! Absurd! I think that these images were very useful because in the many NY subway sites we can to see only the stations, but my goal was put also all the subway entrances! (YOU CAN SEE THE OLD WIKI PAGE OF 24 August 2021 OF THE 59TH ST-COLUMBUS CIRCLE STATION WITH ALL THE ENTRANCES in the Google Maps Street View section, FOR EXAMPLE - https://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=59th_Street%E2%80%93Columbus_Circle_station&oldid=1040487147). And this is only 1 example (you can see the old pages of Times Square, Fulton Center stations etc)
I updated and added ALL the subway entrances of the 1-2 and 3 lines after many nights without sleeping ONLY for an ENORMOUS PASSION and WITHOUT INTEREST, but this has been his only answer:
==== 1 World Trade Center ====
Short answer; we don't need Google streetview links to every subway station. Misplaced Pages is not a directory or a transit guide. Most of the other links in the External links section should be removed per WP:EL. OhNoitsJamie Talk 21:38, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
* Needs history section
* Needs design section, which I will write shortly
* Needs destruction section
* "List of tenants" '' may '' need to be split to a separate article due to length
* "92nd Floor" section needs removed and incorporated into above "Destruction" section
==== 2 World Trade Center ====
* Needs history section
* Needs design section | |||
* Needs destruction section
* Potentially needs rewrite, after reading it I spotted a few errors
==== 3 World Trade Center ====
* Actually has a history section, but needs expanded
* Rewrite Destruction section
* May need a "design" section
==== 4 World Trade Center ====
* Has history and destruction sections
* Both need expanded | |||
* More images needed | |||
==== 5 World Trade Center ====
* Half of the article is about 9/11, meaning half of the article is about 1 day when the structure existed for 31 years
* Needs a design section
* Either the gallery section needs removed or expanded to comply with MOS, it's currently just 3 images chilling around
==== 6 World Trade Center ====
==== 7 World Trade Center ====
P.S. If you see this page (https://en.wikipedia.org/125th_Street_station_(IRT_Lexington_Avenue_Line) it is easy to notice an huge error: if you click on the 125th Street entrance from Google Maps Street View (in the external links section), you don't see an entrance in the street, but a platform... And this is just a simple example of the many errors in these NY subway stations pages. Now, if I correct these errors, he can block me. I don't think that this is the right attitude to improve Misplaced Pages... What do you suggest me to do? Thanks for your possible help.
* Needs architecture section
* Needs more history pre-2001
* The destruction section may need to be summarized per ]

:{{u|Forza NYCFC !!}}, thanks for the comment. I understand that you're really passionate about these edits and I appreciate that work. On one hand, from what {{u|Ohnoitsjamie}} said, it ''does'' seem to violate ] at a first glance, because these links do seem like a collection of spam to a casual observer. On the other hand, links to subway entrances (or at least their coordinates) can be useful for the majority of people who aren't intimately familiar with subway entrances. Furthermore, it was a current administrator who added these google maps links in the first place, for example to ].
{{ivmbox | |||

:: I can't imagine why Google streetview links would somehow be appropriate per subway station articles, per ] and ]. :::{{re|Ohnoitsjamie}} I don't object to the user-generated links being deleted. For the Google Street View links though, I think we should check with {{u|Gfoley4}} (the aforementioned admin who added many of the street views in the first place) and other involved users to determine if they think these links are useful and/or appropriate. I'm not sure the entire section falls under ], as the location of a subway station and the fact that it has exits to some streets is part of the nature of the subject itself. Even the site, at the foot of Wall Street, was once deemed one of the most valuable sites worldwide. == Sat Jan 25: Misplaced Pages Day NYC 2025 ==
The fourth round of the competition has finished with over 500 points being required to qualify for the final round. It was a hotly competitive round with two contestants, {{flagicon|BWA}} ] and {{flagicon|New York (state)}} ], each scoring over 3000 points, and six contestants scoring over 1000. All but one of the finalists achieved one or more FAs during the round, the exception being {{flagicon|Republic of Venice|wartime}} ] who demonstrated that 61 "in the news" items produces an impressive number of points. Other contestants who made it to the final are ] ], {{flagicon|ENG}} ], ] ], {{flagicon|Rwanda}} ] and ] ]. However, all their points are now swept away and everyone starts afresh in the final round.
{|style="background: white; color: black; border:1px solid #6881b9; margin:0.5em; padding:0.5em;border-radius: 8px;"
Round 4 saw the achievement of 18 featured articles and 157 good articles. ] ] scored for a 25-article good topic on ] but narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final round. There was enthusiasm for FARs, with 89 being performed, and there were 63 GARs and around 100 DYKs during the round. As we start round 5, we say goodbye to the eight competitors who didn't quite make it to the final round; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Misplaced Pages, and we hope you will join us again next year. For other contestants, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them.

So as far as my DYK nomination not counting for points, I should've seen reason (1) coming. As far as (2), I was unaware that GA improved articles don't count; which ones do count? And for future reference of other articles (3), how much would I have to edit an article for it to be accepted? Would my GA nomination of ] (or a subsequent DYK) not count because I didn't technically contribute to most of the article? Thanks! ] (]) 00:38, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
== Your ] nomination of ] ==
:@], for (2), most DYK nominations except GA promotions (e.g. article creations, expansions, moves from draftspace, or conversions of redirects to articles) are eligible for DYK points. For (3), unfortunately your contribution to the Fury 325 article is rather small, even though you're among the , and probably would not count for GA points. Generally I'd like to see at least 10% authorship of the article, unless it's a large (~100 kb+) article, in which case we might be fine with a few thousand bytes of prose and sources. – ] (]) 00:43, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

::Ah ok---Fury still helps out OPB&M so that's fine. If I did update the article enough, say extra information about the station and queue, (it '''wouldn't''' be useless filler) would that make it eligible, even if I submitted it after it gets moved to GA? (assuming it does get promoted to GA) ] (]) 00:47, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
:::@], yes, that would then be eligible for GA points. – ] (]) 00:50, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
::::Ok cool. And one more thing; I was working on Nicolaus Copernicus & McDonald's Cycle Center for GANs. Would I be eligible for points in any of those categories?
::::I've been copyediting Nicolaus Copernicus and updating McDonald's Cycle Center as it hasn't been updated in a while but has the potential. (I feel like MCC would have a better chance for me as I'd actually be a more prominent contributor; compared to probably not being viewed as doing much for NC)
::::Once MCC is GA that will complete a GA (maybe FA; can't remember) Millennium Park list; would I be able to get points for that also or how does that work?
== Bad news == | |||
::::Sorry I know this is a '''lot''' but your feedback as very much appreciated! Tysm! ] (]) 00:55, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
:::::It depends on how much authorship share you end up with after these edits. If you have a substantial authorship share because of something like updating old info or adding references, you will most likely be eligible for points. – ] (]) 01:09, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
::::::Also, the McDonald's Cycle Center article and the other pages will have to be nominated as a ], which is a separate process, after the MCC article passes GA. If the FT nom is successful, you may claim FT points for the MCC article. – ] (]) 01:10, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
:::::::Hey @], just clarifying something here. Millennium Park would have to be a "good" topic; not featured right? (You can find the topic ] under "Millennium Park") It looks like it was previously featured, but if MCC was good there would only be 7/17 FA. It can't just reclaim its status as a FT just because it previously was one right? ] (]) 17:47, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
::::::::@], yes, it would be a good topic, but you would nominate it at ]. – ] (]) 17:50, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
:::::::::@] Once ] is GA I'll nominate it for GT, and then if I can somehow manage to get just two others to FA I'll get it to FT. (Obviously I won't get points for GT and FT, just one or the other, whichever status it would currently be in)
:::::::::Again thanks so much, you've been a huge help to me! ] (]) 17:54, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

Hey, Epicgenius! So here's the thing about dyk: if you haven't created preps, you have no idea what prep-setters and admins at dyk do or what challenges they face. Many editors who are regular nominators and reviewers think they'd be willing to admin, but have never filled preps, and when they become admins and start moving preps to queues, they quickly realize they didn't know what they were volunteering for. A prep-setter doesn't just create a balanced set. They also do a quick re-review on many of the hooks; you get to know whose hooks you don't have to review too heavily, but you always have to at least go check for a recent edit war or tags. If the nominator or the reviewer are new or known to be sloppy, you'll have to do a full re-review of that hook. Often prep-setters have questions they have to ask at the hook, and they deal with pushback from noms/reviewers/passersby for that. Then once you've finished a prep you have to deal with fallout at DYK talk and ERRORS. Admins do the exact same thing -- a re-review, because prep-setters miss things too, then the move (fairly simple), posting questions at DYK talk and pinging involved parties, dealing with pushback from them, and finally any fallout at ERRORS when someone finds an error you missed. So if you think you would be willing to admin at dyk, definitely go fill preps for a while to see if you like it or not. Some people love it -- I did, and I like adminning there -- but not everyone is cut out for it. It's a high-visibility job. People catch your mistakes, and the only way to prevent that is to catch other people's mistakes first. —valereee (talk) 15:20, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
- Valereee, thanks for the advice. That is good to know. I think this sort of stuff should be enjoyable for me, even if a bit difficult. I just read the project page on prep areas, and it seems a bit difficult to get a good balance on hooks. epicgenius (talk) 15:23, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
- That's one of the most fun parts of setting preps. The thing to do for your first prep is pick the bottom empty set (which right now gives you three days to fill it but normally six days.) Count to figure out whether the image hook needs a bio or a non-bio (it alternates by day). Go find one, vet it, and transfer it. That'll let the other prep setters know you'll fill that set. Not that they or an admin won't move stuff in and out if they need it or think another set is better for that hook, but in general one prep-setter works on a set. Then start putting the puzzle together -- no more than four bios (alternating in the set with non-bio), no more than one music/science/military/whatever subject. Not too many from any one country, though 2 - 4 USA hooks will be necessary. A balance of geographical area, not all from English-speaking countries. A balance of long and short. And of course a quirky. It's an art. Don't be afraid to trim or tweak hooks, but read the nom first if you do, as there may have already been discussion. Keep on top of talk in case someone asks a question about one of the hooks in that set, because some people won't realize they need to ping you as the promoter. :) Ping me any time, and Yoninah will often leave pointers on how to improve at your talk. When she stops, you know you're getting near the point of competence. :) —valereee (talk) 15:47, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
Happy Holidays
Peace is a state of balance and understanding in yourself and between others, where respect is gained by the acceptance of differences, tolerance persists, conflicts are resolved through dialog, people's rights are respected and their voices are heard, and everyone is at their highest point of serenity without social tension. Happy Holidays to you and yours. ―Buster7 ☎
Subway articles
Once again, very impressive work on very important station complex and line articles. There is more to be added about the change in BMT plans re:Canal Street. Eventually, Clark Street Tunnel should be its own article. Also, the citations for IRT Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line are really messed up and include self-published sources like nycsubway.org, and there is more history that could be added. Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 14:25, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Kew Gardens 613, the pleasure is mine. I do agree that the Clark Street Tunnel should get its own page in the future. I've also noticed that there's a lot more that can be said about the Broadway-Seventh Avenue Line, especially its construction, and will have to work on it gradually. The biggest mess, though, is the Canal Street article - there are a lot of details about the BMT station that are just not mentioned at the moment, and the article in general needs more refs.As for the Union Square station, the article already mentions both the 9/11 memorial and the post-it wall (the second paragraph of 14th Street–Union Square station#Artwork). I thought one paragraph would be sufficient, seeing as how the artwork was not sanctioned by the MTA but seems to be covered by multiple reliable sources. – Epicgenius (talk) 14:38, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- I fully agree. I missed it somehow. Don't forget the Stantec studies, like the one that found making Clark Street accessible was infeasible, and which provides some sourcing for station layout (i.e. platform length/width). Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 15:17, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- It also is probably worth mentioning the 1990 fire in the Clark Street article. Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 15:30, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- I agree and can get around to that soon. In the meantime, I was looking at the study for Union Square, which says:
This technology does not meet ADA standards, and since there is currently no technology that does, there is no fully accessible solution for the southbound platform. We are including an option for providing elevator service to this platform in this report with the understanding that this will not provide a fully accessible solution at this time.
So I suppose this means the southbound platform can get an elevator, it just won't be ADA-accessible because gap fillers, by their very nature, are ADA-inaccessible. – Epicgenius (talk) 15:47, 2 May 2023 (UTC)- Yeah. Also, unrelated, but the 1990 Clark Street Tunnel fire was very notable, and there were major reports done on fire safety/communication, etc. in its aftermath. It would warrant an article of its own. Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 16:06, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- I also think the 1990 Clark Street fire should get its own article. (I think the fire happened just east of the Clark Street station, though, not in the tunnel under the river.) In terms of recent NYC Subway disasters, the fire has had at least as much of an impact as the 1991 Union Square derailment or the 1995 Williamsburg Bridge subway collision did. – Epicgenius (talk) 17:11, 2 May 2023 (UTC)
- Also-the provisions in the Eastern Parkway Line used for the Clark Street Tunnel connection were initially intended for a line over the Manhattan Bridge. Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 14:27, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- That is interesting. If we can find a reliable source for this, I could add it to the Borough Hall or Eastern Parkway Line articles. – Epicgenius (talk) 14:35, 5 May 2023 (UTC)

- @Kew Gardens 613, I have, but thanks for clipping it. The first part of that source seems to largely duplicate the New York Herald Tribune ref that's already in the Fulton Street station article. But it has some info that isn't mentioned in the NYHT source, specifically the 535-foot length of the station. The second part of the source could be used for the Broad Street station article though. – Epicgenius (talk) 17:00, 10 May 2023 (UTC)

Updating the complex articles (since they are all extremely short)
1 World Trade Center
- Needs history section
- Needs design section, which I will write shortly
- Needs destruction section
- "List of tenants" may need to be split to a separate article due to length
- "92nd Floor" section needs removed and incorporated into above "Destruction" section
2 World Trade Center
- Needs history section
- Needs design section
- Needs destruction section
- Potentially needs rewrite, after reading it I spotted a few errors
3 World Trade Center
- Actually has a history section, but needs expanded
- Rewrite Destruction section
- May need a "design" section
4 World Trade Center
- Has history and destruction sections
- Both need expanded
- More images needed
5 World Trade Center
- Half of the article is about 9/11, meaning half of the article is about 1 day when the structure existed for 31 years
- Needs a design section
- Either the gallery section needs removed or expanded to comply with MOS, it's currently just 3 images chilling around
6 World Trade Center
7 World Trade Center
- Needs architecture section
- Needs more history pre-2001
- The destruction section may need to be summarized per WP:SUMSTYLE
I added the above subheaders just in case we need a list of things to do. :) Sir MemeGod :D (talk - contribs - created articles) 16:36, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Sir MemeGod: Thanks for starting this section. I might move this to User:Epicgenius/sandbox/to do when we're done figuring out what to do (since idk where else to put it). Epicgenius (talk) 16:41, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
- By the way, Construction of the World Trade Center has some info about the Twin Towers' structural design, so we can copy some of the relevant info into these articles. – Epicgenius (talk) 16:46, 6 September 2024 (UTC)

Congratulations, and thank you today for 1 Wall Street, "about yet another building on Wall Street in New York City. This time, it's an office skyscraper that was built in 1929–1931 as a bank headquarters before being converted to residential use. The building has some notable architectural features including a curtain-like limestone facade, a polygonal red room with glittering mosaic tiles, and (originally) an executive lounge with a triple-height ceiling. Even the site, at the foot of Wall Street, was once deemed one of the most valuable sites worldwide. The structure may not be the tallest building in the area, or even on the street, but in my view at least, it's one of New York City's lesser-known Art Deco masterpieces."! - I have a Bach cantata on the same page (my story today): happy new year! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:54, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

B13 Warning
Ewhite31 just gave me a warning that if the B13 page I just created does not have the necessary noteability, the page will be moved, redirected, or deleted. I want the page to stay, but I need your help. How can we improve the B13 page on Misplaced Pages to better meet its standards? Wikis6501 (talk) 15:54, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Wikis6501, I would suggest finding third-party sources, such as books or newspaper articles, that show that the bus route meets the general notability guideline (I don't think there is a subject-specific notability guideline here, since bus routes don't tend to be notable outside of major cities). The New York Times and the Brooklyn Public Library's archive of newspapers probably has some coverage of the B13 and its predecessors. There are also books about the BMT/BRT, but I don't know if they mention the B13 or its predecessors. – Epicgenius (talk) 16:09, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- Some of the content cannot be accessed without paying for it. Two of the bus pages that show evidence-lacking history have the tag “citation needed”, and that may have kept the pages from being redirected, so I’m going to add these tags. I live in a working-class family who does not want me to pay for what they think is unnecessary stuff. Where I was able to get evidence I cited it. Wikis6501 (talk) 17:03, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Wikis6501, just so you know, you might be eligible for The Misplaced Pages Library, which gives you access to a bunch of useful sources (such as newspapers) for free. – Epicgenius (talk) 23:23, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- I can help with these articles, but not if you create so many at once. Also, you need to note where you are copying information from (List of bus routes in Brooklyn) when you first start the articles. Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 15:24, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Kew Gardens 613, thanks for the offer. I'm not sure if there is significant coverage in reliable sources for some of these routes' articles, but others (such as the B6 (New York City bus)) do seem to have such coverage. – Epicgenius (talk) 18:42, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
- I believe I have seen sources for some, like the B12. Concern over notability is why I do a lot more research before starting bus articles these days (and why my Sandbox on buses is quite long). @Wikis6501:, while I believe that every route "should" have an article, and that is a long-term goal of mine, you can't just ignore the guidelines on notability, like you suggest at Misplaced Pages talk:Articles for deletion/B11 (New York City bus). I would second @Epicgenius:'s advice on getting access to The Wikpedia Library. If you are not eligible, you can still look through the thousands of clippings I have made (many about buses) for future Misplaced Pages additions. Also, please do not spam articles with tons of images (including bus stops), and please try to use better grammar. I genuinely appreciate your enthusiasm for buses, and your edits have spurred me to add sources to try to save pages from being deleted, but I cannot do that when you create a dozen articles at a time. Kew Gardens 613 (talk) 20:20, 5 January 2025 (UTC)

DYK for Valencia Theatre
On 6 January 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Valencia Theatre, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that New York City's Valencia Theatre (pictured) was sold to a church in 1977 for $1? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Valencia Theatre. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Valencia Theatre), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

WikiCup DYK
You removed my Ripken (dog) DYK for the Wikicup saying I didn't edit it, if I edit it now, can I add it back? History6042😊 (Contact me) 01:00, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
- I mean ITN not DYK. History6042😊 (Contact me) 01:01, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
- @History6042, if you make a substantive edit, then yes, you can submit it for points again. Generally, we'd like to see you add at least a few sentences and a source in order to consider something a substantive contribution. – Epicgenius (talk) 01:13, 8 January 2025 (UTC)

My DYK points were removed; I think I understand
So as far as my DYK nomination not counting for points, I should've seen reason (1) coming. As far as (2), I was unaware that GA improved articles don't count; which ones do count? And for future reference of other articles (3), how much would I have to edit an article for it to be accepted? Would my GA nomination of Fury 325 (or a subsequent DYK) not count because I didn't technically contribute to most of the article? Thanks! Therguy10 (talk) 00:38, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Therguy10, for (2), most DYK nominations except GA promotions (e.g. article creations, expansions, moves from draftspace, or conversions of redirects to articles) are eligible for DYK points. For (3), unfortunately your contribution to the Fury 325 article is rather small, even though you're among the top 10 editors, and probably would not count for GA points. Generally I'd like to see at least 10% authorship of the article, unless it's a large (~100 kb+) article, in which case we might be fine with a few thousand bytes of prose and sources. – Epicgenius (talk) 00:43, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- Ah ok---Fury still helps out OPB&M so that's fine. If I did update the article enough, say extra information about the station and queue, (it wouldn't be useless filler) would that make it eligible, even if I submitted it after it gets moved to GA? (assuming it does get promoted to GA) Therguy10 (talk) 00:47, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Therguy10, yes, that would then be eligible for GA points. – Epicgenius (talk) 00:50, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- Ok cool. And one more thing; I was working on Nicolaus Copernicus & McDonald's Cycle Center for GANs. Would I be eligible for points in any of those categories?
- I've been copyediting Nicolaus Copernicus and updating McDonald's Cycle Center as it hasn't been updated in a while but has the potential. (I feel like MCC would have a better chance for me as I'd actually be a more prominent contributor; compared to probably not being viewed as doing much for NC)
- @Therguy10, yes, that would then be eligible for GA points. – Epicgenius (talk) 00:50, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

- Once MCC is GA that will complete a GA (maybe FA; can't remember) Millennium Park list; would I be able to get points for that also or how does that work?
- Sorry I know this is a lot but your feedback as very much appreciated! Tysm! Therguy10 (talk) 00:55, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- It depends on how much authorship share you end up with after these edits. If you have a substantial authorship share because of something like updating old info or adding references, you will most likely be eligible for points. – Epicgenius (talk) 01:09, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- Also, the McDonald's Cycle Center article and the other pages will have to be nominated as a featured topic, which is a separate process, after the MCC article passes GA. If the FT nom is successful, you may claim FT points for the MCC article. – Epicgenius (talk) 01:10, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hey @Epicgenius, just clarifying something here. Millennium Park would have to be a "good" topic; not featured right? (You can find the topic here under "Millennium Park") It looks like it was previously featured, but if MCC was good there would only be 7/17 FA. It can't just reclaim its status as a FT just because it previously was one right? Therguy10 (talk) 17:47, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Therguy10, yes, it would be a good topic, but you would nominate it at Misplaced Pages:Featured and good topic candidates. – Epicgenius (talk) 17:50, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- @Epicgenius Once MCC is GA I'll nominate it for GT, and then if I can somehow manage to get just two others to FA I'll get it to FT. (Obviously I won't get points for GT and FT, just one or the other, whichever status it would currently be in)
- Again thanks so much, you've been a huge help to me! Therguy10 (talk) 17:54, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

- @Epicgenius Thank you that's exactly what I needed. And yes it was a topic not a list. I don't believe I have anymore questions and I look forward to (legally) competing in the Wikicup! Have a good one! Therguy10 (talk) 01:12, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
