:I sure did. Let me know when you're in New England and I'll whip up some honey glazed garlic rabbit over herbed potatoes, all grown by my wife and me.
:Things are going pretty well. With all my fancy new buttons that I can accidentally press I figured I should reduce my phone editing, so I got a Chromebook. :::Hopefully I'll have some venison soon. Almost the season, and my spot has a lot of sign. I checked my camera recently, and there's at least three nice bucks hanging around, as well as a few does, one with a fawn. I spent a couple hours out there yesterday clearing brush and branches, so when I'm out for archery I don't miss because I hit a stray stick. ::::Support list for anything except images. I'm still lost on those, which fittingly was an oppose or neutral on my RfA.
::::I was trail running this weekend and had a couple deer friends. Their habitats are definitely changing. In the area where I was it's not just climate, but also roads being built/moved within their migration paths. I'd much rather them be dinner than road kill. <span style="font-family:Calibri; font-weight:bold;">] ]</span> 02:00, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
:::::The only image work I really do is marking copyvio over on Commons, so hopefully it doesn't come up.
:::::Along with the habitat changes, there's also the lack of predators. He's are growing to unhealthy levels and there's more disease spreading. Hunting is an important part of conservation. Not that I really help out with the conservation, because I never see any deer in season. This spring I was out for opening day of turkey, in the blind I use for deer as well as turkey, and two deer sauntered by. Didn't see anything in the 50+ hours I had spend out during deer season.

A very thoughtful interview in the signpost, I felt (, for any watchers who haven't seen it). I agree strongly with your point about content curation. :Thanks to these links and my wife watching YouTube on the Roku, which is linked to my account, I have very weird suggestions. GTA roleplay and Cambodian cooking. At least the ads are still targeted, somewhat. The ad for TikTok was wasted on me, but the second ad for a sale at tractor supply was reasonable. Unfortunately for them I'm fixed for feed, forage, and fencing right now.
:I finished that last series of books, solidly a C- effort by the author. Trope after trope, completely predictable, every good guy killed the bad guy they were set up against in the first book. The whole thing read like a 12 years old's d&d story after their parents let them watch game of thrones. I also refuse to believe that the main character's love interest has breath that "smells faintly of apples" after a month of forced marching and combat while eating hard tack and hunted meat.
:I just started some apocalyptic zombie series which is also pretty bad so far, but it's a box set so I get 54 hours of listening for the cost of one book. It's another series not notable enough for an article by another author not notable enough for an author. ] (]) 15:05, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

::BTW, in the acknowledgments, ] thanked not ] who gave the first book such a glowing review (as mentioned, a major river in the world is called ''Terrygood''), but rather, ], the author of the last series of books I read. ::BTW BTW, while I appreciate ] not being a conglomerate (though "In July 2022, DAW was acquired by Astra Publishing," its article says), holy smokes are their prints just for shit. Faded ink, un-bleached recycled paper, just the fuckin' worst. Oh well. ] 15:33, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
:::The last series was ''The Faithful and the Fallen'' by John Gwynne, and the one I just started is ''Slow Burn'' by Bobby Adair. Sometimes I try books that I assume won't be good because it brings me back to my days as a kid buying and reading whatever was available at the flea market. The worst part about that was getting books from a series and never getting to read the other books.
:::I never bothered with YouTube premium because I normally watch YouTube on a PC with an ad blocker. All the streaming my wife and I use are ad-free though. We pay extra for Hulu and all that, I have too many hobbies to spend time watching ads. ] (]) 16:00, 2 October 2022 (UTC)
::::I only use PC, as well. Yeah, I did the ad-block thing on and off for many years (I think I created my YouTube account in 2009), but it was always a bit wonky and a pain to maintain, especially with certain extensions. YouTube Premium also has music options for YouTube's vast music library. And it isn't that expensive, so I've been pretty happy with what I get. ] 16:09, 2 October 2022 (UTC)

::Amazon spent a fortune on acquiring the rights to The Rings of Power and then no doubt spent another fortune on the production, culminating in a ponderous (boring is right!), more-is-better, badly acted (the actress playing Galadriel is dreadful), strangely political mess. As for crawl spaces, when I was a child, my father bought a fixer-upper to fix up himself with my older brother's and my help (my brother far more willing than I). When they put in baseboard heating, I was told to go under the house because I was the smallest, and I had to slither around while being told from above what to do. I was scared shitless (I was convinced the house was going to collapse), which left me traumatized for life. I don't think my father realized it at the time. Our current home has a very large "crawl space", but, unlike the fixer-upper, it's so high that one can walk upright in it, although occasionally ducking to avoid the duct work. == "grooming gangs"-related disruption ==
:::As I've mentioned elsewhere, a key problem has to do with writers who have little to no writing experience, in general, and no respect for the lore, specifically. Those writers probably mirror the distorted view of the execs who hire them: for example, that a ''strong woman'' needs to be both a ] ''and'' interminably insufferable (that's because they, themselves, are like that, but see it as normal and good). Or that men (not of colour) should either be villains (actual or potential), incompetent, and/or simps. Contrast that with ''Incest Dragons'', where, for example, women die from childbirth often, as was the case prior to modern medicine. Depicting that, one of the greatest struggles and hardships that women have faced through the ages, is infinitely more progressive than ''Bored of the Rings''' superficial teenage-fanfic approach, not to mention immersive (i.e. realism, even with dragons).
:::While I strongly disagree with the right-wing politics of The Critical Drinker, he posted a '''''' of the series thus far yesterday that I think highlights a lot of these problems. BTW, pretty much the only ads I see are on Twitch, which had a 10-second ad for the series that looked really enticing. How gullible was I? Now whenever I see that ad, I cringe.
:::I've had that fear, too, as a kid as well as an adult, of being in a tight space with enormous mass above me that I dread would collapse overtop of me, even though the chances of that approach zero. But the scariest, I find, is being stuck somewhere (deep) and no one knowing where you are. == A great username ==
Hello, I am Tommy 's dad, I'm really sorry he had some disruptive interactions today. I'm trying to explain to him what he did wrong, he doesn't understand about verifiable sources (he's 9) and I wasn't aware he was trying to edit some articles (to be honest that makes me kind of proud). I know the (obvious) reasons behind his user being blocked, but I would like to take the time to explain how Misplaced Pages works (I didn't know he was interested). Please allow him to keep his Username, and he'll eventually return prepared to collaborate. Another observation, after all this years (I joined Misplaced Pages 15 years ago I think, and collaborated mostly in Misplaced Pages en Español) you would believe that blocking IP's is kind of an obsolete idea, just because you blocked him I wasn't able to use my ISP's IP to communicate with you, then I tried to use Surfshark VPN and that IP was also blocked (useless pattern I think). Thank you and have a good night. (] (]) 00:57, 3 October 2022 (UTC))

This could be real; not inconceivable. This is just weird. Were I an admin, I'd stick to what I know and that is the fact that Kidtommee isn't ready to be editing here. This sort of situation would not be resolved through SPI, so any unblock I might make would have to come with strings attached to the so-claimed parent. Kid misbehaves again? ::Hi, it is not a "compromised account", he's just a kid and he loves Bob The Builder and HIT Entertainment and all that, and he thought he could edit on this article based on some wrong knowledge. He simply doesn't know the rules and I wasn't aware he was trying to edit an article, he is not ready to contribute, but that is exactly my point because, one day, he will be, and "] is a ], meaning anyone can edit nearly any page and improve articles immediately". I am not asking an unblock, but kids tend to see things in absolute terms, I don't want him to feel discouraged to ever come back and edit, because that would be a shame. I am asking for some leniency because all he sees is an absolute (indefinite block), I don't want him to desist in something as good as this project, his time will come and he'll be prepared. The way I see it, this generation is getting too much of wrong information and dumb ideas through social media or fox news, and my kid is reading from Misplaced Pages, this is not a formal request, this is just a father that is proud that his 9 year old son wants to be part of something worthy. Greetings. ] (]) 17:02, 3 October 2022 (UTC)

I acknowledge that my behavior and edits were subpar at the A/E report, but I strongly believe that overall on the main-space, I am a productive editor who always uses high quality sources and abides by Misplaced Pages's norms on content creation. I believe my interactions with GoDG were an aberration in which things got overly heated and led to frivolous back and forths on Misplaced Pages A/E when they should have been resolved through good faith, substantive discussions on the t/p and related dispute resolution noticeboards. I strongly maintain that I did make a genuine, good faith attempt to resolve the related content on DN- in which I laid out a case to summarize and include content based on high quality sources while the A/E was going on.
First off, congrats on the mop. I saw your 72 hour block of the user after they hit ], so just letting you know I expanded the block to a year-long rangeblock of {{rangevandal|72.29.39.0/24}} since it's been the same disruptive user for years. ]]] 15:12, 4 October 2022 (UTC)

I'd also like to point out that this topic area on Misplaced Pages has quite a few bad actors including perennial sockpuppets and some unserious editors who use this platform to inflate, and in many cases, fabricate historical events in order to aggrandize their communities. For many years, I've been a guardrail against a lot of these bad actors and have done a lot to prevent them from disrupting and vandalizing Misplaced Pages.

If unbanned, I would learn from my recent experiences in order to leaven my interactions with editors I have had intense content disputes with, such as trying not to let my personal feelings or disdain cloud my judgment on Misplaced Pages, I'd confront any disagreement between myself and another editor through only discussing the issue on the article's talk page, and I'd make a resolute commitment to immediately de-escalating conflicts and avoiding and language that would affront the other party.

Hello, ScottishFinnishRadish,

It's still not exactly clear to me why you deleted this page but you have to be very careful when you take any action after a bad page move. Bots typically move all article redirects after a page move pretty quickly and if you delete a page with Twinkle, you can end up deleting a few (or a lot) of valid redirects that now point to the wrong page. When taking action after a bad page move of a popular page, if you are considering deleting either the bad title or the regular title, please check for redirects ("What links here") and either manually correct them to point to the right target or leave a redirect from the bad title to the correct title and the bots will get around to correcting these double redirects.

So, your page deletion ended up deleting a lot of valid redirects but Cryptic has restored them all now. But this is how you learn! I once mistakenly deleted all of the pages in a category...it's important when you make a mistake to set about fixing it once you realize that things didn't go as you planned. Thanks! <span style="font-family:Papyrus; color:#800080;">]</span> ] ] 00:34, 13 October 2022 (UTC)
:], there was a request on discord, and a few admins started taking action all at the same time. I was under the impression that someone was handling the redirects after my deletion.<br/>I even mentioned that I was going to have to fuck up deleting stuff or moving pages at some point, since it's a right of passage for admins to have to go to AN and request help fixing whatever they did with their tools.<br/>I will certainly be more careful with that in the future. Sorry for the trouble.<span id="ScottishFinnishRadish:1665621536338:User_talkFTTCLNScottishFinnishRadish" class="FTTCmt"> ] (]) 00:38, 13 October 2022 (UTC)</span>

213.49.236.39 the same. same maybe-Neapolitan edit summaries. so they appear to be IP-hopping. — kwami (talk) 05:26, 24 December 2024 (UTC)

Editor you blocked for ARBPIA violations

Aren't their latest edits violations? Doug Weller talk 16:46, 25 December 2024 (UTC)

Looks that way to me. I'm trying to disengage from arbitration enforcement, though, since I'm now on the committee. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 16:51, 25 December 2024 (UTC)

Now that you're officially a Arbitrator

Would you like to add the following userbox to your userpage?

This user is an arbitrator on the English Misplaced Pages.

2601AC47 (talk·contribs·my rights) Isn't a IP anon 02:17, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

I guess I probably should, eh? ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 04:02, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
I went with a topicon and a plain text note. Not much of a userbox person. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 04:43, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
Yes you should because some of us (like me) weren't aware you have become an arbitrator or even that there was an election. Congratulations! Coretheapple (talk) 19:48, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
Thanks! ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 21:55, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
I'm looking forward to the Real Spouses of ArbCom's next season! You kids keep your heads down. Good luck. BusterD (talk) 23:15, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
This user was on the English Misplaced Pages's Arbitration Committee.
This one used to actually be funny, as there were bananas on the scale. It turns out the bananas were a derivitaive work not properly licensed, and now it's not funny. I wonder if any one with good image manipulation skills could rectify this banana-less non-joke? Beeblebrox 23:22, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
I had dall-e make some bananas-on-scales, but it seems a failing of ai is an inability to not have bananas on both sides of the scales. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 23:30, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
The bananas were on the heavy side of the scale, because reasons. Beeblebrox 23:35, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
The only option is bananas on both sides, as far as I can get dall-e to generate. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 23:36, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
@Beeblebrox: The original image but with some added text is still available at File:Benevolent Order of Old Fruits (emblem).png (though same reasoning for deleting the original image applies to that one too). I took a stab at making an svg version: File:Scale of justice 2 - Misplaced Pages bananas.svg. SilverLocust 💬 09:44, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
Nice, thanks. Beeblebrox 19:04, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
Real Spouses of Arbcom isn't the worst option. Beats Sister Arbs and 90 Day Arbitor. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 23:31, 1 January 2025 (UTC)
Congrats Raddish guy, enjoy the ARBing. Knitsey (talk) 23:38, 1 January 2025 (UTC)

"grooming gangs"-related disruption

Thanks for protecting the Huddersfield sex abuse ring article, Elon Musk has caused a right ruckus about this . The Child sexual abuse in the United Kingdom (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) article is getting a lot of related disruptive edits like . Would it be possible to semi-protect it for like a week until the contoversy has died down? Hemiauchenia (talk) 18:12, 5 January 2025 (UTC)

I gave it a week, let me know if it needs more when that expires.
Odd to see the confluence of Indian anti-Pakistani sentiment and homegrown xenophobia. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 18:16, 5 January 2025 (UTC)
In part, a divide and conquer tactic by the likes of Tommy Robinson probably. Sean.hoyland (talk) 05:10, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

A great username

Why hello there!

I just spotted your username for the first time ever (in the Administrators' newsletter), and have to say you have a great username.

Have a great day! :)

Thanks! My old roommate drew a picture of me as an old timey bare knuckle boxer and coined that as my boxer name. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 20:30, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

Appeal

A while ago, I was topic banned by you as per this report-. I haven't edited since late November, but I was wondering if you could reconsider your decision.

I'd also like to point out that this topic area on Misplaced Pages has quite a few bad actors including perennial sockpuppets and some unserious editors who use this platform to inflate, and in many cases, fabricate historical events in order to aggrandize their communities. For example, one perennial sockmaster in this topic area was pretending to be me in order to get me "blocked everywhere" as per Inzo.

Thanks. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 21:35, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

As this was placed based on the consensus of administrators at AE I will not unilaterally lift it. You can appeal at AE, but it is very unlikely that it will be successful without demonstrating constructive editing in other topics. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 21:46, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
Ok, when I do hit 6 months/500 edits, do I have to appeal at a certain noticeboard or will it automatically be lifted? Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 21:48, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
It will automatically be lifted. Please give WP:GAMING a quick review, too. It is expected that your edits will be, for the most part, substantial. A bunch of small copy edits that appear like you're making edits just to reach 500 could result in further sanctions. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 21:52, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
Ok, thank you. Southasianhistorian8 (talk) 21:53, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
