'''Backlog update:'''
At the time of this message, there are ''11,300'' articles and ''15,600'' redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!

'''October backlog elimination drive''':
A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can ].

'''PageTriage code upgrades''':
Upgrades to the ] code, initiated by the ] in 2022 and actioned by the ] in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found ]. As part of this work, the ] now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed - it will replace the current version soon.

'''Notability tip''':
Professors can meet ] #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their ] or ] profile and take a look at their ] and number of citations. As a ''very rough'' rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of ], a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.

'''Reviewing tip''':
If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.

Hello WWGB:

== Vishnu V Raj ==
''']''' is holding a '''month long ]!'''<br />
The goal of this drive is to '''reduce''' the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than 2 months outstanding reviews from the current 4+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 November 2023 through 30 November 2023.

Hello - I saw that you had marked ] for BLPPROD, which is entirely sensible, though I wonder if you might revert to consider AfD instead? The reason being that the same creating editor created ] a couple of weeks ago with pretty much the exact same content, which was deleted via BLPPROD, and I suspect that they will keep creating it if it is deleted like this again. At least AfD will be a bit more final, and we have the option of speedy deletion in the future if the article is created again. I think that the subject is entirely non notable, BTW: I endorsed the previous BLPPROD on the basis that there were no decent sources with significant coverage. Cheers ] (]) 07:02, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
You may find ] or ] helpful.

:{{ping|SunloungerFrog}}, why not start the AfD yourself? If you are not confident, make a start and I will follow if necessary. Regards, ] (]) 07:41, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.<br />
::I am very happy to do so, but didn't want to ride roughshod over your BLPPROD (also wasn't quite sure whether it was allowed at the same time). I'll do that now. Cheers, ] (]) 07:52, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
There is a backlog of over {{Rounddown|{{formatnum:{{PAGESINCATEGORY:Pending AfC submissions}}|R}}|-2}} pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! ] (]) 13:25, 31 October 2023 (UTC)</div>

On 14 November 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Schoharie limousine crash, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the stretch limousine involved in the recent crash near Schoharie, New York, killing 20, appeared at two vehicle inspections earlier this year with different license plates? A beer for you!

You probably need one about now. Here's hoping for a better year, in particular, one necessitating fewer new articles on terrorist attacks. E.M.Gregory (talk) 17:28, 1 January 2019 (UTC)

Fame at last...

How does Misplaced Pages deal with a mass shooting? A frenzied start gives way to a few core editors. No mention of me though:). Nice diagrams, and a quick look at the page histories of shooting incidents will show a core of regular editors.--♦IanMacM♦ 17:30, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

HI WWGB, I'm a researcher at Sydney Uni and would like to contact you. I'm not sure how best to do this and hoping this message somehow reaches you....Doctor 17. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Doctor 17 (talkcontribs) 08:45, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

This initial contact led to this article. WWGB (talk) 02:49, 10 July 2021 (UTC)

Were you aware?

I assume that you have been made aware of this. But, in the event that you were not, I wanted to point it out to you and bring this to your attention. Your name was mentioned in this article: How does Misplaced Pages deal with a mass shooting? A frenzied start gives way to a few core editors. Thanks. Joseph A. Vishnu V Raj

Hello - I saw that you had marked Vishnu V Raj for BLPPROD, which is entirely sensible, though I wonder if you might revert to consider AfD instead? The reason being that the same creating editor created Vishnu V. Raj a couple of weeks ago with pretty much the exact same content, which was deleted via BLPPROD, and I suspect that they will keep creating it if it is deleted like this again. At least AfD will be a bit more final, and we have the option of speedy deletion in the future if the article is created again. I think that the subject is entirely non notable, BTW: I endorsed the previous BLPPROD on the basis that there were no decent sources with significant coverage. Cheers SunloungerFrog (talk) 07:02, 11 January 2025 (UTC)

@SunloungerFrog:, why not start the AfD yourself? If you are not confident, make a start and I will follow if necessary. Regards, WWGB (talk) 07:41, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
I am very happy to do so, but didn't want to ride roughshod over your BLPPROD (also wasn't quite sure whether it was allowed at the same time). I'll do that now. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 07:52, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
