He was a senatorial candidate, a board member and director of various financial institutions, and served as assistant general manager of United Bank for Africa. Donald was married to Gloria Ngozi Ike (nee Anyanwu) on 22 May 1982, and they had three children: George Ike, Ugoada Ike, and Dike Ike. He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren. He died after a brief illness on 7 September 2021.
