In 2002 and 2003 Sun sang the official theme songs for Singapore's ]: "We Will Get There" (一起走到) and "One United People" (全心全意). The former was included on the album '']''.

In early 2003, she released her fourth album titled, "To Be Continued..." Which have also been commercially successful. It managed to sell over 250 000 copies in Taiwan and over 1 000 000 in China. Few months later she released her seventh album with six new songs mixed with fifteen of her old songs. By the end of 2003, Stefanie Sun had sold over 7 000 000 copies in asia with just seven albums.

In late 2003, she decided to take a one-year hiatus from making music, believing that she needs to recover her lost sense of direction in her career. She returned in late 2004 with a new album titled ''Stefanie'', intended to be a mirror of her debut album (self-titled as well, but in Chinese). This was to symbolise her return with a fresh attitude. This album was well received by the critics in the Chinese music industry. This album sold over 2 300 000 copies in asia; making it the most successful album from her.{{Fact|date=February 2007}} She also started her own company, ], during this sabbatical.{{Fact|date=February 2007}}

'']'' was released on 2005, almost one year later.
Reviews of this new album have been mixed, but Sun had mentioned before that her priority is to make quality music, instead of over-commercialized products that sell well but have a lower level of artistic quality. Though this album did not reach the best commercial success, it had still managed to sell over 1 000 000 copies in Asia.{{Fact|date=February 2007}}

As of 2006, Sun is in the midst of a regional concert tour. She has staged four full-house concerts at the renowned ]. The performances have received positive reviews from the media as well as overwhelming support from fans. Sun also returned to Singapore in a much-anticipated homecoming concert. Yet, not all is smooth-sailing for her. At the Golden Melody Award 2006 in Taiwan, whilst performing renditions of other male singers' songs, she went off-key and was heavily lambasted in the Chinese pop media, which reported that she has smashed her image of a pop diva with great singing skills. She attributed it to factors like not enough rest, ], inadequate time for sufficient practice etc. Though she had been heavily criticized by the media, many thinks that she did not perform as bad, instead the media had over-emphasized on her singing ability that night.

Sun's first album under the Capitol brand is entitled Against The Light (逆光) and has been released on the 22nd of March 2007. Her decision to leave Warner after 9 albums was partly due to music executive Sam Chen, who now works at EMI. He had collaborated with Sun on 8 of her 9 albums.

On February 26th, 2007, Stefanie Sun has returned from Cairo where she and her team were extorted by suspected local gangsters. Sun was in Egypt to shoot a music video for her new album. Two men disguised as government officials kept following her and the crew and asked for money--at one point even showing a gun. The crew tried calling the police, only for the two crooks to dismiss them with just a few words. The crew had to hand over a total of over 200,000 yuan in order to continue shooting. The extortion went on for four days. Finally, Sun and her team were able to leave the country with the help of the Singaporean embassy. Upon returning home, the pop diva said nothing except that she's tired and needs some rest.

== Collaborations ==
Sun collaborated with Japanese singer ] on the last track of Sun's album '']''. They collaborated again on Mai Kuraki's ''If I Believe'', released in July of 2003.

Sun also sang with fellow Singaporean singer, ], the song "Original Point (原点)" in Tanya's album, Amphibian.

In the song "First Day", from the album '']'', she sings with the popular Taiwanese musicians ] (五月天) and ] This is not the first time she has worked with ], given the first was 王子面.

Stefanie Sun Yanzi (born Sng Ee Tze on 23 July 1978) is a Singaporean singer and songwriter. In 2000, she released her debut album, Yan Zi, which won her a Golden Melody Award for Best New Artist. In 2004, she released her eighth studio album, Stefanie, which won her another Golden Melody Award for Best Mandarin Female Singer. Having sold more than 30 million records, she achieved popularity in Greater China, recognized more among the Chinese-speaking world.

Early life and education

Sun was born in Singapore on 23 July 1978. She attended Nanyang Primary School, St. Margaret's Secondary School, Raffles Girls' School, Saint Andrew's Junior College, and Nanyang Technological University, where she obtained a bachelor's degree of Marketing in 2000.

Singing career

Early years and 2000s

During university, Sun wrote her first song titled "Someone", which later appeared on her 2002 album, Start. She attended LWS School of Music, and her vocal talent was discovered by her mentor Paul Lee, who later introduced her to Samuel Chou, the chairman of Warner Music Taiwan at the time.

In 2002, Hong Kong–based Yazhou Zhoukan, published a 15-page article on the "Stefanie Sun phenomenon", citing the impact of her music all throughout Asia.

Sun was selected to sing the English and Mandarin versions of the Singapore National Day Parade theme songs in 2002 – "We Will Get There" (一起走到) and in 2003 – "One United People" (全心全意).

In 2006, National Parks Board of Singapore named an orchid, Dendrobium Stefanie Sun, after her. Sun also has a wax figure of herself at the Madame Tussauds Singapore wax museum which portrays her signature look during her 2014 Kepler World Tour. The wax figure took around four months to make, costing 300,000 Singaporean dollars.

2010s

Stefanie Sun revealed that her proudest moments as a singer was when she sang Kwa Geok Choo’s favorite song. Choo was the wife of Singapore's former prime minister. She also sang Lee Kuan Yew’s favorite, entitled "Que Sera Sera", at the Business China Awards in 2011, not long after her demise. The song had moved Mr Lee, a person whom Sun had the highest respect for, to tears.

2020s

In early January 2020, she collaborated with Taiwanese band, Mayday, to release the new version of their 2000 hit "Tenderness".

On 27 May 2022, more than 240 million people watched Sun performed in a one hour virtual concert streamed on Douyin.

Personal life

In May 2011, Sun married Nadim van der Ros, who is of a Eurasian Indonesian descent. He is the founder of Be An Idea, a part of The Good Bean Consultancy. They had secretly registered their marriage in March 2011. In October 2012, Sun gave birth to her son, followed by a daughter in July 2018.
