== YumeChaser ==

You know, I wouldn't have done what I did if YumeChaser did not so I could not move the page back after he moved it in the first place. The page was at the name "Journey '''t'''hrough the Decade" for over a year. And the moment it gets moved back to that title after I discovered it was moved because the manuals of style apparently enforce that the word "through" is supposed to be capitalized, he has to move it back? This shit is all he does. He does not add content. He only renames things. There is no way that I can amicably converse with him because in order to get a point across, I have to work to modify the damn MOS that he's enforcing for him to change his opinion.—] (]) 04:49, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
:I understand, although sometimes you just have to let things go without letting it get you annoyed. I have to do that or I'll get too frustrated. Either way, the article is still there and only the title has changed. If someone wants to go about doing little things and not adding any content, what can we do about this? Not much unless we Wikilawyer it somehow. But, really, I know how you feel, ''']]'''] 04:54, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
::YumeChaser has been doing this regarding articles I edit for a while. One article can't be at one title because the song has tildes in its title, another article can't have a song's title parsed as "Sing your heart out" because a lot of those words aren't capitalized, the name of a band can't be parsed as "m.o.v.e" or "m.c.A·T". It's getting really bothersome when he finds that there's some aspect of the manuals of style that aren't being enforced and he goes ahead and enforces it and has no other opinion on the matter.—] (]) 17:51, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

== Tennis article discussion ==

Because you and others were ] for special players, I though you might be interested in the re-visit being discussed at ]. Currently, because of input from that 2011 discussion, any singles player skilled enough to win a grand slam tournament is allowed continuous seasonal articles. No grand slam tournament win, no season article. A grand slam tournament win in 2012 allows seasonal articles in 2013 and 2014 whether or not more grand slam tournaments were won. I was against these articles, but even I have to admit it has worked reasonably well and there really haven't been all that many articles made. A recent deletion of the 2013 Maria Sharapova tennis season has brought this to the forefront once again and we at Tennis Project are trying to decide if we leave things as they are or narrow the parameters in several different ways. We could use more input (whether your views have changed or not). ==Dakota==
Sorry to trouble you. Would you please go into that Dakota dictionary you have and give me the definition for Bdóte and M'dota. The Fort Snelling article gives two definitions for Bdóte. One says it means "center of the earth" and also "the meeting of two rivers". Numerous other sources give M'dota or Mindota the definition of "meeting of two rivers". Also, do you know the explanation for the use of "Bd" in place of the letter "M"? Is there a historical record being cited for the variation and in the case of two spellings how is the "correct one" determined. Thank you] (]) 02:25, 27 October 2020 (UTC)mcb133aco] (]) 02:25, 27 October 2020 (UTC)
:{{reply to|Mcb133aco}} Those spellings are the same word, just a different dialect (or accent) when saying it because Dakota people have had (and still do have) regional differences with certain words. However, Bdote is the modern and common spelling of the word in the Dakota language because after the US-Dakota War, Dakota people were forced into a diaspora, exiled from Minnesota, scattered into the Dakotas, Nebraska and into Canada -- It was at that time that nuance changes happened to the ]. Perhaps both uses of Mdote and Bdote were common prior to the war, prior to Europeans being in Minnesota, but once the different bands were forced to merge together on reservations, Bdote just became the common way of pronouncing it and Mdote fell out of use. I cannot cite you a source for the change as Dakota is an oral language and the vast majority of Dakota dictionaries in the past were created by European Americans who may not have felt the need to identify the multiple accents to words (possibly because they were unaware of the dialect differences if they only studied a few bands of Dakota to produce their dictionary, or because they simply ] as shown in recent research). Common uses of the Bdote spelling by Dakota people exist at places like the Bdote Learning Center, Bdote Memory Map, and at the Minnesota Historical Society after they consulted with Dakota people. The only people who seem to still argue Mdote or Bdote are non-Dakota people for some reason, perhaps they don't see us as living people with a living language so they only want to refer to historical records written by non-Dakota to define our current use of the Dakota language.

:To explain the other meaning, I'll have to teach a little about Dakota people's worldviews: Dakota people believe what is reflected in the stars above is reflected here on earth, so we believe that where the Minnesota and Mississippi River meet is the center of the earth, and by that, we mean the heart of Dakota society that we return and rotate around, just as the stars above rotate around the North Star. Overlooking Bdote is Oheyawahi ("hill much visited") that is called Pilot Knob in English; that's where Dakota people would erect scaffolds to honor the spirits of recently passed relatives, so they could be placed at the highest point near the origins of the people, near Bdote. Dakota people believe the dead travelled along the milky way, the spirit road, and believe that road is reflected here on earth as the Mississippi River. There are other sacred places near that location, such as Wakan Tipi cave (called ]), which is also reflected as a star in Orion's belt and represents a spiritual womb of sorts that connects the earth with the stars above. Bdote is the center of our worldviews, center of those locations (and others) if this makes any sense after explaining the meaning of Dakota locations surrounding Bdote.

:So, to summarize, the word Bdote is the commonday spelling by Dakota people, and the word means the confluence (meeting) of two rivers. Dakota people believe that is where our people originated, so it is the center of the earth for us as it relates to the stars above and as it relates to the Dakota people having sacred relationships to the land. ] '']'' 04:32, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

Thank you. Something I find odd are the two definitions for the word. One is site specific "center of earth" while the other is a generalization "where two rivers meet". With the second you would think that the word could be used for any confluence: St. Criox with the Mississippi or the Cottonwood with the Minnesota. ] (]) 17:35, 29 October 2020 (UTC)mcb133aco ] (]) 17:35, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

:{{reply to|Mcb133aco}} One definition is the meaning of the word itself and other is the meaning of the actual place. The thing with Dakota language at that time, according to fluent elders of today (who complain about the long wordiness of Dakota today), was that it was one that relied on context instead of using tons of words to describe something. At the time of the treaty of Mendota, many of the villages of the Dakota people were stationed along the Mississippi and Minnesota rivers, so when they were taking about Bdote, the context was clear, it was the one that was in the heart of their villages.

:It's just like people in the Twin Cities referring to something like the Mall of America as just "The Mall". Many places are malls, but the context is relatively clear to folks that live in the vicinity because of the exceptional nature of the Mall of America. So yes, many rivers had a bdote, but the Minnesota and Mississippi were major highways to Dakota people and were where they stationed prior to the 1862 war so the contextual use meant that specific meeting of the two rivers. ] '']'' 23:41, 29 October 2020 (UTC)

== Indigenizing Wiki ==
Hi Oncamera, I wanted to thank you for the props you gave me regarding the changes I made to the page, "Indigenous peoples of the Americas." Frankly, I don't see what is the big deal with capitalizing "I"s but it has been frustrating to see people change it back without any knowledge of its significance. As a non-Indigenous person, I'm merely using my privilege to correct what's right based on what Elders have told me. I'm happy that the AP Stylebook has affirmed this, but I'm a bit sad that people view this is considered the authoritative source rather than from Elders and Indigenous leaders. At any rate, I noticed that you have expertise in the matter and I wanted to ask you if Wiki has done anything to speak to Indigenous people to help remove any anti-Indigenous bias on its pages? I had a bizarre encounter with a non-Indigenous editor recently, who gave some microagressions regarding Indigenous views on Canada Day, and I've ask him to talk to Elders in the future to make sure that his comments come out of respect for Indigenous peoples. I even asked him to look into talking to Indigenous leaders to remove this bias on Wiki and that it would be a wonderful project that would create a more inclusive environment. I would love to help, but I do not feel that I am the right authority here as I am non-Indigenous. I have offered to find Elders to help out, but I was wondering since I'm assuming you have such abilities and knowledge, I guess my question for you is how is Wiki doing in terms of balancing out anti-Indigenous bias on its pages? I understand that it is a user-generated platform, but with experts like you, have you worked with Elders in this department? Is there any way I could help out?

Thanks!

:{{u|Madc090}} Thanks for making those changes. With the way Misplaced Pages operates on "western" standards, it's rare they'll listen to elders unless they have published their teachings into a book. A lot of Indigenous-related articles suffer because of this -- often the only publish books are self-published which are looked down upon or written by non-Natives. It sounds like you are being a good ally by listening to elders and understanding any biases you may have. Greetings,

You have reverted my addition of ] to the category of illeists. I am sorry that I have only French sources to show you, but I think that with the help of transparency, you will see that those mainstream, respectable sources do mention to Delon's habit to refer to himself in the third person:

:{{reply|El clemente}} The French sources are fine, but you should add a sentence into the article that notes that he has a habit of refering to himself in the third person, then you can add that category. Otherwise, I had never heard of that fact about him (since I don't watch his interviews or read them) and I do think it's interesting and worth noting. Just include sources! == Jeff Hardy the "artist". ==

Pertaining to your revert edit made a few days ago

Normally I would pursue this and if you continued on, it would more than likely end in my favor as editing disputes always do, but because making this change would then make me feel obligated to go on and fix the lead for every professional wrestler unreasonably labeled because of some one-time or minor related project they've got going on, I've chosen not to get into that with you. I just want to make something clear;

Frankly ] is only '''known''' for being a professional wrestler. His "artistic and music career" (which by the way, if they were so well-known wouldn't be sharing a section) are spin-offs of his actual fame. The lead is meant to serve for career defining fame on the article subject, not as an up to date regular job resume for example. If he wasn't a professional wrestler then there would be no ''Facepaint & Merchandise'' for him to draw himself. Many editors have been congesting article leads with unimportant details and even hobbies, such as these.

Realistically, neither artist or musician should lead-in that article. The body mention is actually sufficient. At very most an occupation(s) infobox tab is appropriate. Cheers ] (]) 23:18, 30 July 2021 (UTC)

== ] ==

To explain my (reverted) edit: I believe that solo images are preferable within a subject's biography, especially in the 'Career" section, unless it's includes a highly significant collaborator that has earned the due weight. Additionally: The first picture was taken at the same event as the infobox, which provides little variation (] describes how editors should strive for variety) while the second photograph is of the same quality of the reverted image I added. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!--] (]) 21:29, 29 October 2021 (UTC)
:There's no policy that says photos can't contain other people in them, especially considering these are cast members in his two most well-known and celebrated with awards roles. These roles are the first thing mentioned about him in the opening paragraph of the article. The role of Mr Robot was played by Christian Slater (also won an award for that part), thus belongs in that section. The Bohemian Rhapsody cast photo is much better quality than the single image and clearly shows how it relates to the movie. Perhaps the image you wanted to add can go into his award section or into the page for all his awards since that's the context of it being taken while at the Golden Globes. However, it's a very blurry photo of him that perhaps it shouldn't be used at all, considering his page is a Good Article, which is achieved with the current photos. ] '']'' 01:57, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

:{{reply to|Let the truth prevails}}, per ]:

:''Do not combine material from multiple sources to reach or imply a conclusion not explicitly stated by any of the sources. Similarly, do not combine different parts of one source to reach or imply a conclusion not explicitly stated by the source. If one reliable source says A, and another reliable source says B, do not join A and B together to imply a conclusion C that is not mentioned by either of the sources. This would be improper editorial synthesis of published material to imply a new conclusion, which is original research performed by an editor here. "A and B, therefore C" is acceptable only if a reliable source has published the same argument in relation to the topic of the article. If a single source says "A" in one context, and "B" in another, without connecting them, and does not provide an argument of "therefore C", then "therefore C" cannot be used in any article.''

Thank you for flagging the COI issues and supporting the cleanup efforts, re the LLC. I had already been looking into the sock aspect of this before I realized the overarching agenda here: ]. So far I've spotted 5 named accounts and 2 IPs involved in the citespam and astroturfing, usually functioning as SPAs, then coming back with yet another account, to give the illusion of broad support of the LLC, when it's actually just one or at most two individuals. Though now with the discovery of the ones active at Lakota language, there is definite chronological overlap, with the most recent one there possibly being the oldest account and sockmaster. I'd appreciate you taking a look and weighing in, as you've been working on these language pages more than I have. Also, feel free to email me if that is better. == Zhang Zhehan ==

I am not looking to start an edit war. I have significant concerns with the information being added, how it is presented, and the non-NPOV nature of some sources. I will try and explain my issues.

On 30 April 2022, Zhang posted a handwritten letter on his Instagram account ::'''Technically it is the zhangzhehan_super3 Instagram account::''' claiming that his co-star Gong Jun '''::The letter refers to 'another star' and 'an ex-colleague' and does not specify whom. Given that the assertions are potentially libelous taken in the context of the overall paragraph and are Contentious Facts, they are held to the higher standard and should be Verifiable as provided in Misplaced Pages policy for the Biographies of Living Persons::''' from Word of Honor have not had any contact since June 2021 but who was capitalizing ::'''<nowiki/>'capitalizing' as used here is not an objective term and is not the language used in the letter, making this statement not NPOV and thus not within the standards of Misplaced Pages's policy for the BIographies of Living Persons::''' on fandom shipping between the fictional characters the actors portrayed in Word of Honor. This post (and later videos) caused a number of online fans to report his account ::T'''his statement implies facts not in evidence, namely that reports were made. The article cited to does not provide any evidence of reporting or to whom these reports were made::''' as a deep fake due to their ongoing belief in the same-sex romantic pairing of fictional characters ::'''The phrase "due to" assumes facts not in evidence, namely that the allegations of deep fake were a result of the belief in the same-sex romantic pairing. This is not NPOV and not within the standards of Misplaced Pages's policy...::''' despite his clarification '''::The source used for this statement - the Vox article - is an opinion piece not a factual reporting. The Vox author's writing is not NPOV, shows no evidence of fact checking, no consultation with the sources cited to, no verification of the truth of the matter, and it is this piece, not Vox, itself that makes this a Questionable Source and thus not appropriate for a Biography of a Living Person''':: Zhang requested those who have read his letter to stop cyberbullying ::'''The letter does not refer to cyberbullying. It asks 'not to harm']::'''his family and friends, saying, ::'''The ensuing passage is from an interview with Li Xuezheng. I do not dispute this quote or the source, but it's placement makes it appear the statement was made on the instagram page, which is not accurate::''' "Both my mother and I fell into a state of panic. I didn't dare to go out and even started to doubt myself. I've been very patriotic but suddenly, after the incident, people are calling me a traitor. They even called my mum the mistress of a Japanese and insulted my dad, who actually passed away in 2016. I've been living in fear and don't dare to go out". Zhang said outside sources were "spending lots of money to create rumors about the political standing of a patriotic citizen, editing Baidu pages, working with social influencers, and using large amounts of Internet Water Army to influence the media."

I have other issues, but I have attempted to make my main points. In addition, the previous edit did have information feedback loops, which was also a legitimate editing concern. In addition, there is a pattern in the initial edits made by the anonymous users that makes it appear they are being made and reverted not in good faith, which I am also happy to discuss more fully. ] (]) 01:03, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

], please check the contribution history of user KeepingTabs; this user themselves is likely a proponent of the conspiracy theory that actors Zhang Zhehan and Gong Jun are in a romantic relationship. Their edits evidence a concerted agenda to obfuscate the target of Zhang's Instagram accusations and to inflate the credibility of the deepfake conspiracy theory that purports that his social media accounts have been hijacked and used to post faked materials. You may be seeing an uptick of activity on this page because several Twitter influencers who are frequent promoters of this conspiracy theory have been drawing attention to the material on Zhang's Misplaced Pages page, requesting that users come and edit the content to remove any material that insinuates Zhang's social media accounts are real or which report Zhang's clarifications about his relationship with Gong. I think it would be a good idea to restrict edits on this page. ] (]) 06:41, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

], I am not a conspiracy theorist. If my edits seem to promote a conspiracy, that is unintentional, and I am not married to the language I used. My concern is a neutral, factual entry. No one incited me to make this edit. And it is actually the individuals who are reverting these edits that are causing the uptick - I am here on my own whereas multiple people using IP addresses who have either never edited before or hadn't edited in over 10 years have come here to revert in turn each edit. I keep tabs on this page (among others) because I am concerned about misinformation around ZZH since there has been malicious editing of his wikipedia pages internationally. As written, this segment is potentially libelous and not neutral. Misplaced Pages policy recommends discussion, but I am being insulted instead. That is my POV. If edits are restricted, I would suggest this be reverted to before this latest round of edits, but I defer to more experienced editors. <!-- Template:Unsigned --><span class="autosigned" style="font-size:85%;">—&nbsp;Preceding ] comment added by ] (] • ]) 07:23, 30 June 2022 (UTC)</span> <!--Autosigned by SineBot-->

See my post on the for more background on this issue. You may infer from the user's edit history that they are primarily motivated by a desire to shield actor Gong from Zhang's widely reported accusations. This is evidenced by the form their edits take: they are endeavoring to minimize any mention of Zhang's post-April social media activities and soften the language used when describing his accusations against Gong. Calling the segment libelous is disingenuous and a transparent attempt to manipulate Misplaced Pages guidelines in service of the user's agenda; Zhang was very explicit in his letter and video about to whom his accusations were directed. That Zhang avoids explicitly using Gong Jun's name to minimize his own legal liability is irrelevant, as the target of his accusations can be ascertained through the way he describes Gong. There is no other person that his accusations could be describing, and media sources widely recognized that Gong was indeed the subject of Zhang's accusations. I can't help but recall the recent Depp v. Heard case; I'll note that her Misplaced Pages page also reports that media sources understood the subject of the accusations in her 2018 Washington Post op ed to be Depp despite the fact that his name was not explicitly used -- and Zhang many times more explicit about the target of his accusations than Heard was in her article. The segment also makes no judgment on Gong's guilt: it merely reports that the accusation was made, and that it has been widely reported in the media. These are facts and they are relevant for inclusion in Zhang's page. Erasing Gong's name when his name has been included in the secondary sources reporting Zhang's claims is clearly an attempt to protect Gong. Misplaced Pages does not have an obligation to protect public figures against widely reported accusations of abuse, and Misplaced Pages is not at any risk for recording what has been reported widely in the media. ] (]) 08:34, 30 June 2022 (UTC)

== Zhang Zhehan ==

Hi @Oncamera, I am here to notify you of recent edits on Zhang Zhehan's Misplaced Pages page. On 9 January 2023, user DawnSP removed entries of new songs released under Zhang Zhehan's name, including their references to the official lyric videos and Apple Music, on the English, Chinese and Japanese versions of his Misplaced Pages page. The note user DawnSP has written for their edit said "controversial content(there's no proof that the two newly released singles were recorded by Zhang Zhehan)", is introducing a conspiracy theory suggesting songs released officially on music platforms under the artist name "Zhang Zhehan" are not by Zhang himself. This song removal edit is inappropriate to do on Misplaced Pages. The entries of his new songs have since been restored on the English, Chinese and Japanese versions of his page. Previously in 2022, there had been many single purpose accounts who edited Zhang's Misplaced Pages page, which prompted the page to be protected until 30 December 2022. Since the lifting of the protection on his page, it is evident that single purpose accounts are returning to remove new updates about Zhang. I do see Zhang Zhehan's Misplaced Pages page could be in need for protection again to prevent future vandalism from occurring. ] (]) 01:13, 13 January 2023 (UTC)

== Possible Discussion? ==

Hi, I just saw your comment in relation to .

I'm the author of the ''Slate'' article, and I'm currently working on a more in-depth version of that article for peer-review. One of my hopes is that a peer-reviewed version of the article might force more discussion/reflection from editors who were able to write off/explain away the points in the ''Slate'' article. Would you have any time/desire to discuss your editing experience on these topics?

I can provide more details via email. I can be reached via the email link at my userpage, or if you'd like to leave a message at my talk page I can provide my email address there.

Thank you!

== Would you be interested in illustrating? ==

] for your enjoyment.<ref>And to excuse my audacity.</ref>]] Hi Oncamera, thanks for your copyediting at ] and your participation in the ]! I looked at your user page, and I noticed that you're a professional artist and enjoy illustrating and graphic design, and are interested in the Indigenous Peoples of North America, which is a bit of struck gold given what I was thinking about only the day prior.

The current ] section is kind of unwieldy given the lists upon lists of handshapes, orientations, etc. I've fallen in love with the language, and I'd like to supplement the section with West's 1960 phonemic inventory of the sign language, since it's widely considered by {{small|(the rather small number of PISL-concerned)}} linguists perhaps still the most sophisticated analysis of the language (cf. the article), and I was thinking of presenting it in table format in line with the typical presentation for other, spoken languages. It's not usually done like that for signed languages in large part because most of them don't have such extensively described inventories.

I thought it would be nice to have simple line illustrations of each of the handshapes (of which there are 18), at least. {{small|Even better would be symbolic representations of all of the possible movements and other things, where a symbolic representation is possible (up to 86, but that's unlikely).}} The issue is, the only illustrations of West's handshapes as described are his own, which are still copyright. I can't find any precedent in ], except to try to limit an article to 100 images and prefer Unicode or Emoji symbols where possible. If you are not interested in the work {{small|(which is ''completely'' understandable; I'm no artist, otherwise I would have just ], but I've heard hands are particularly annoying to draw, and anyway you haven't availed yourself on a category like ]. The fact was ... that Bdóte, an area of sacred significance to the Dakota people, centered on the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers, was also the site of their forced exile from Minnesota? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Bdóte.
