What, no Bud Spangler?

2021 Jul 29

I was listening to Bud Spangler and felt like reading up. No Bud Spangler. An extensive Bud Spangler discography 74-18, including a little Bud Spangler but no Bud Spangler. Redlink to Bud Spangler in first line.

Not going to be a fool, not telling you who Bud Spangler is. But why no Bud Spangler?

Okay, it could be argued, Bud Spangler's discography is Bud Spangler. A million guys, better than me, all known for their work. But there is no Bud Spangler.

  • Why?

So I asked, "What, no Bud Spangler?" This talk was deleted within 24 hours... because there is no Bud Spangler. Did some digging: Bud Spangler has been deleted. Bud Spangler was deleted... years ago... the last time Talk:Bud Spangler was deleted.

That previous Bud Spangler was created, so says the deletionist, by someone banned from doing so. Don't know who.

At this time my paranoia kicks in. The amazing thing is that a project founded on No Rules has evolved not merely into mediocrity, which was guaranteed; but into dystopian mediocrity... which perhaps was also. The wiki, paraded as the ultimate level playing field transparent in every direction, has become a hall of mirrors and black holes: Dr. Strangelove's Play House. A thin trail leads down to a windowless cinderblock room; a blurry photo, a yellowed, singed fragment of newspaper, the words scratched into the wall, scuffed over with a fist: Bud Spangler!
