The paragraph states that Japan aims to increase its defence spending to 2% of GDP, which is calculated as ¥43 trillion ($315 billion). This amount is, according to the sources, the total sum that the Japanese government intends to invest during a five-year period (2023-2027), not a yearly defence expenditure.
