The article was long ago updated to reflect the actual spelling but the existence of the redirect prevents an article name change. This is already reflected in other geographic articles. This seems to be an artifact of Wikipedians and mainland journalists (which resulted in a large discussion on the Maui Wildfires articles that mainland news organizations cannot be considered WP:RS for the spelling of place names in Hawaiʻi) assuming that the consonant that is represented by the ʻokina is a diacritic, rather than a consonant.   Common usage is the correct orthography, actually. There are no WP:RS passing sources that would indicate the actual name is the mispelled version I am aware of, and the directory of official place names from the Hawaiian government is listed in each move request. In several cases the articles very consistently use the correct spelling throughout, with only the article name wrong (and only I rewrote Waikiki in that way, the rest were others), though I'll take this through a discussion process.   Again, whole thing on the Hawaiʻi wikiproject on this going back quite a while, feel free to come over there. Keep in mind several Hawaiian newspapers and magazines use the correct orthography in print but not in online publications as it messes with Google indexing/ranking. That’s why this is uncontroversial among Wikipedians from the area (the actual people who know WP:COMMONNAME), though we’re trying to make and cite this case rather than going “trust us”. It's been at its current title for almost two years which IMO is a bit late to revert a previously undiscussed WP:BOLDMOVE. Unsure a case for globalization should be made here given the article currently only covers US amusement part incidents and Incidents at European amusement parks already exists in a much more advanced state. Note there is a previous version of the article that had much more thorough coverage of US incidents here before it was gutted in 2022; perhaps that could be fixed up.Further discussion would probably help here. Where are you seeing H. alba used? The only case I can find is BioLib, which changed the page after the Misplaced Pages page for H. alba was created. Also, even if H. alba is used by secondary sources, the rules of scientific nomenclature forbid renaming of species unless it is done in a peer-reviewed journal, which I can find no evidence of. @Bunnypranav: would you be willing to move the page first, then if you are still concerned about sourcing, do an RM from albus back to alba? My strong concerns about potential WP:circular reporting (as implied in Shawnbrescia's reply to you) compel me to ask for this deviation from standard procedure. The sources in the article itself suggest alba is WP:OR: the ICZN source cited says nothing about H. albus itself. My own searches on Google Scholar found the one source cited, Ávalos-Hernández 2009, for albus but absolutely nothing for alba. @Rotideypoc41352: I think a full RM would be required. There you can present your reasonings to other editors more familiar with the topic area. We can’t control what others do with the information coming from Misplaced Pages. I don't think this case of IAR really helps anything. The discussion is relatively unlikely to end as a no consensus close, and regardless of where the article is before the move, the last stable title is the current one; no consensus closes default back to the last stable title. This should either be handled here (which by now, enough discussion has occurred where it really shouldn't be) or in a full RM beginning at the current title. I apologize if I’m misunderstanding, as I’m relatively new to editing Misplaced Pages. Could you please clarify why the move can’t be performed? I’m unclear on what basis my move request has been contested. I’ve provided evidence that the name being used is erroneous and fabricated, and no counterargument has been provided. Bunnypranav initially contested, but did not provide specifics when I asked, and in their final comment they seem to have withdrawn. Subsequent comments have concerned Misplaced Pages protocols rather than the move request itself. So what is actually being contested here?

I’m concerned that because this article is about an obscure species of fly, if I were to start an RM I’m wondering how long it would sit without a single person seeing it, while perpetuating the error. See for instance the third footnote of Alternate history, which reads Brave New Words: The Oxford Dictionary of Science Fiction (Oxford University Press, 2007) notes the preferred usage is "Alternate History", which was coined in 1954; "Alternative History" was first used in 1977, pp. 4–5. Misplaced Pages has dealt with this terminology issue in the past. At Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Albums there have been several flips over the years about what to call an extra album cover used in other countries and the like. Sometimes it was "Alternate cover" but it is currently "Alternative cover" (see Template:Infobox album). The earliest such discussion I can find was way back in 2009 at Template talk:Infobox album/Archive 5#Mistake, and note the dictionary definitions like those brought up by the requester here.
