Francis George Glennie (3 March 1863 – 21 June 1936) was an English banker, member of the Royal Empire Society and the son of John Glennie. He was also the great-grandson of William Glennie (1761–1828).

Biography

Born on 3 March 1863 in Blore, Staffordshire, Glennie was one of 13 children of John David Glennie and Frances Mary Finch.

He was a younger brother to Reginald Gerard Glennie, a cricketer and Canon at York Minster.

According to the 1921 England and Wales Census, Glennie was a cashier at the Bristol Branch of the Bank of England and was living at 33 Pembroke Road in Bristol. He was living with his wife, Pauline, and two of their five children, Ruth (11 February 1899 – June 1989) and Brian (October 1910 – January 1929).

Glennie married Pauline Frances Straus in July 1890 in Chorlton-on-Medlock.

Glennie died on 21 June 1936 and according to his probate record, his estates were divided between his widow, Pauline and his only surviving daughter, Ruth.

An article by the Western Daily Press of Wednesday 24 June 1936 describes Glennie as "Well known in Banking Circles". This same article also says that Francis was formerly a member of the Bristol Archaeological Society and also a member of the Royal Empire Society.
