== Death List == | |||
Perhaps you can start by explaining to me exactly what it is that makes Death List notable? If I am not mistaken it is a web forum with a relatively small amount of traffic, and it has had a negligible impact on culture -- you use the example of a Simpsons episode but each one of those has a viewership over 10 million and is *far* more notable than a lightly trafficked webforum. And yes, Death List is lightly trafficked, the Alexa ratings for it have it in the dumps. There are HUNDREDS of celebrity dead pools just like Death List (or similar variants), and none of them are notable, either. Such forums simply don't belong in Misplaced Pages as anything more than a mention, if at all. ] 07:39, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
You wrote: "Your view on significance is a bit skewed I think. Why should numbers be the be all and end all? Should we do a seperate page for every episode of every show that has more than X amount of viewers? I don't think it's necessary, because Misplaced Pages is an informational source, not a fanclub for TV shows."
:You ask why numbers matter. The Death List is a creature only of the web and ''only of the web'', and because of that, its relative significance can be easily measured by comparing its ranking with that of other websites. And it falls well into the range of non-notable websites: if something lives only on the web and few people see it, it is almost by definition not notable. If it had a life outside of the web, you might have a point, but it does not. And you act as if I did not consider keeping the text from the old article. That text added very little value to the understanding of a Dead Pool. The right thing to do here is exactly what I did, give a passing mention to it and move on. ] 11:23, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

==Oldest people== | |||
Thank you for correction, it was my error with supercentenarian list. Greetings. ] 19:10, 29 March 2006 (UTC)
Regarding the 'oldest people' list: the source used is
Birthday Table Announced by Ministry of Welfare and Labor Sept. 16, 2005
The announcement calculates the age as of Sept. 30 of the current year.
22 1895/10/12 Choho Fukuhara (M, Okinawa, Japan) Choho Fukuhara (M, Okinawa, Japan), now 109 years 11 months 10 days old
27 1895/12/19 Hiromi Minakata (M, Wakayama, Japan) Hiromi Minakata (M, Wakayama, Japan), now 109 years 9 months 3 days old
Thus Choho (or Chojo) Fukuhara was born Oct 12, 1895 and was Japan's 22nd-oldest living person, as of Sept 30, 2005. Hiromi Minakata was born Dec 19, 1895 and was Japan's 27th-oldest living person, as of Sept 30, 2005.
Regarding the GRG list: This is Misplaced Pages, I don't think the lists have to be exactly the same. Note, for example, Misplaced Pages includes articles like Florence Reeves, 111, not (yet) on the GRG list. I think the GRG list uses a slightly higher standard.
In the case of Choho/Chojo Fukuhara, we were told that the oldest living Okinawan male was '110' years old in Oct 2005. As there was only one candidate, it must have been Chojo. Yet we never received official word of his turning 110. So, he's not on the GRG list. But I think for practical purposes we shouldn't short-sheet the bed just because we don't have a willing and capable Japan correspondent at the moment.
The Japan lists are updated once a year, every September, so unless we have a correspondent report from Japan the cases are 'presumed' to be living until the next year's list, when those who are not on the new list are presumed to have passed away.

== Collaboration? == | |||
Hi there Paul, our interests overlap with Olympians (you) and rowers (me). I once started a stub for ] and some time later, I discovered that he then had a significant scientific career linked to his chosen sport. I've created a semi-decent bio based on scarce sources and drew a bit out of science papers. One of my stumbling blocks was that his native language was French and that's not a language that I have mastered (they've tried to teach me but they failed!) and therefore, I can't do any searches for sources in that language either. I wonder whether you'd be interested in teaming up. Whilst French doesn't show up as one of 'your' languages, you have a wide network around the world. And as a Canadian, I presume that half your mates speak French. If that sounds like a good idea, please say so. Absolutely no urgency; I did all my work a year ago. It doesn't need much more to pass GA but I've exhausted what I could find. ''']]''' 05:54, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
:A quick skim makes me think this article would probably pass GA as it is! But yes, I'm happy to help - French was my other dissertation language, so while I can't speak it all, I can read it enough at least to pass an exam, haha. It's a long weekend over here, but afterwards I can probably put some time into it, so let me know what you think is missing and I can try to help. ] ] 02:53, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
::I would have liked to write more about early life (e.g. which high school he attended). The biggest gap, though, is from 1944 onwards. I couldn't figure out which company he went to; the whole later life is a bit hazy (apart him working for DuPont at some point). I would expect that there would have been some obituaries but the one that I did get my hands on (ref #18) was rather brief (and some kind person translated it for me). The guy's work is really impressive – the work that made him famous was done 80 years ago and it's still sometimes used today. And the symposium that carries his name has been going since 1961. == Subsequent stating of birth name ==
Hey Paul, I'm referencing . I think the reference to ] is incorrect in this case, so I've reverted. It's very common for articles to restate the birth name at the start of the article (i.e., after the lead). I think most people find it improper to add a citation to the lead, so restating the birth name (after the lead) and/or citing the birth name in the "Early life" (or first section) can be a good approach. Some chief examples: ] and ]. ] references using the surname after the full name is originally stated, but there doesn't appear to be a guideline in WP:NAMES that supports not being able to restate the birth name when citing the birth. How we will see unregistered users
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Olympedia
Hi Canadian Paul,
Do you have any connection or involvement with Olympedia? I've noticed that Olympedia has been updating the profiles of athletes with their full names in the middle of AFD's, and immediately after you've updated the name at the article, assumedly sourced to Olympedia as no new source is added. - Assuming you are involved, I would ask that in the future when your work on the site is relevant to your edits and !votes at AFD, I would ask that you disclose that - the way your comments are written, and your edit summaries, suggests that you are not WP:SELFCITING, and instead are adding information that others inexplicably missed, which is misleading. BilledMammal (talk) 02:58, 19 February 2022 (UTC)

- And the German article has a reference for that death date. Schwede66 08:36, 31 March 2022 (UTC)
- 1913 is definitely correct per a contemporary news report. Looks like the WWI mention on Olympedia has been removed (unless I am missing it?). Canadian Paul 19:27, 3 April 2022 (UTC)

AfD
Hi Paul. Hope you are well. As a previous editor to the article, you might or might not be able to help with this AfD. Thanks. Lugnuts 08:52, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
Thomas Arnold
Hello, regarding this page, I see that Olympedia changed the page title in "Terence Arnold" without changing the name inside the biography section. Meanwhile I've found this reference that seems to confirm the name Terence. Do you have any other reference that can help to solve the doubt? Thank you very much. GBG (talk) 08:58, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
- @GBG: Thanks for pointing this out - the bio has been corrected; the bobsledder's name is definitely Terence. The PDF you found is confirmed by contemporary newspaper and military records, as well as probate records. Canadian Paul 02:07, 14 June 2022 (UTC)

Hello, regarding your feedback on my comment on OlympStats: I'm afraid I'm not able to find any mail address on that web page. There is no link behind "CONTACT US" either. So I'm not sure how I can send a mail with the evidence you had requested. Regards --RonaldH (talk) 20:45, 17 June 2022 (UTC)

Hi Paul - hope you are well. Please could you take a look at this AfD regarding if the gymnast and zoologist are one and the same. Thanks. Lugnuts 10:25, 19 June 2022 (UTC)

Current Events
Dear Canadian Paul, I know it may not be your area, but I was wondering if you could add your point of view to a little editing/content problem over at Current events. I've started a discussion here. If you have time and think it's important, please take a look and add your thoughts. Regards, MattSucci (talk) 06:20, 18 July 2022 (UTC)

No problem at all, dude. The problem kind of solved itself :) MattSucci (talk) 02:58, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
Collaboration?
Hi there Paul, our interests overlap with Olympians (you) and rowers (me). I once started a stub for Lucien Brouha and some time later, I discovered that he then had a significant scientific career linked to his chosen sport. Schwede66 05:54, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
- A quick skim makes me think this article would probably pass GA as it is! But yes, I'm happy to help - French was my other dissertation language, so while I can't speak it all, I can read it enough at least to pass an exam, haha. It's a long weekend over here, but afterwards I can probably put some time into it, so let me know what you think is missing and I can try to help. Canadian Paul 02:53, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
- I would have liked to write more about early life (e.g. which high school he attended). That is quite something. Schwede66 03:36, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
- Got it. I'll take a look when I can and let you know if I find anything! Canadian Paul 02:42, 8 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Schwede66: Well, I didn't find much in French, but I think I did answer your main question. In 1945 he was working for the Aluminum Company of Canada, so that's where he went after 1944. He was still working there in 1950, but was at DuPont by 1951, so that should fill the gaps in his employment. He also headed the Fitness Research Unit at the University of Montreal at some point. Hopefully that helps. Canadian Paul 01:14, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks heaps. I've finally worked your finds into the bio. Much appreciated indeed. Schwede66 04:57, 12 October 2022 (UTC)

Hello Paul, hope all's well for you. I've nominated this article for GA review and Johannes Schade is in the process of reviewing it. I've had a look whether we have any photos online and I see that there's something attached to his olympedia entry. Would you be able to find out where the photo comes from? There's a high chance that it's out of copyright, but we'll probably have an easier time on Commons with a bit more background. Schwede66 02:31, 1 December 2022 (UTC)
- Sorry, been a busy few days. I'll take a look at this and your other message and get back to you soon. Canadian Paul 04:40, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
- Update. Earlier today, we managed to track down a high-resolution photo of Brouha and Jules George. And it's in focus. That's heaps better than what's attached to the Olympedia entry and I'm sure that you'd want to change the photo when you see it. Schwede66 05:41, 5 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Schwede66: Just sent the new photos to Olympedia; thanks! Regarding your ping about George, Olympedia has it correct, right? Or am I missing something? Canadian Paul 20:51, 8 December 2022 (UTC)

Subsequent stating of birth name
Hey Paul, I'm referencing this edit. I think the reference to WP:NAMES is incorrect in this case, so I've reverted. It's very common for articles to restate the birth name at the start of the article (i.e., after the lead). I think most people find it improper to add a citation to the lead, so restating the birth name (after the lead) and/or citing the birth name in the "Early life" (or first section) can be a good approach. Some chief examples: Theodore Roosevelt and Martin Luther. MOS:SURNAME references using the surname after the full name is originally stated, but there doesn't appear to be a guideline in WP:NAMES that supports not being able to restate the birth name when citing the birth. Happy to discuss though, if you see something different. Cheers, --Engineerchange (talk) 04:00, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
- Hmmm... I haven't seen it much that way in the past, but your examples are solid and it's not a big concern overall, so I have no problems. Thanks for the message! Canadian Paul 04:02, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
- @Canadian Paul: No problem! Misplaced Pages is always about learning something new and I thought I was doing something wrong for a sec there. Cheers, --Engineerchange (talk) 04:08, 12 October 2022 (UTC)

DYK for Abdel Moneim Mokhtar
On 21 October 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Abdel Moneim Mokhtar, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Abdel Moneim Mokhtar travelled to the 1928 Summer Olympics to compete in gymnastics, but took part in diving instead? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Abdel Moneim Mokhtar. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Abdel Moneim Mokhtar), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Shunpei Uto still alive!?
Hi Paul, information added to the Japan Wiki for Uto a few months ago suggest that he was still alive in 2019, although the sources don't pass WP:RS. Given the Japanese esteem for the elderly I would have thought an Olympic medalist reaching 100 would have caught the attention of their mainstream media. Cheers, DerbyCountyinNZ 00:06, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
- @DerbyCountyinNZ: Oops, sorry, missed this somehow the first time. Three years ago I was in contact with a Japanese journalist who was looking to get in touch with Uto and offered to pass along any updates. Eventually they spoke to Uto's son and were told that he died a "few years ago" (as of 2019). My communication with this journalist was in English, so it seemed pretty conclusive to me that Uto had died. Of course, this is the exact opposite of the story that was added to the Japanese Misplaced Pages (at least as far as I can tell with Google Translate). So this is very odd indeed. Karl Jordan at Olympedia
Are you able to identify the underlying sources for this entry? There are some questions about the reliability of the assessment that the zoologist and the gymnast was the same person. BilledMammal (talk) 16:02, 6 November 2022 (UTC)
- @BilledMammal: What sources are those questions based on? I'd be happy to have some German-speaking experts take a look at it. Canadian Paul 03:54, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you; primarily on this and this, which don't mention any participation in the Olympics despite covering less significant details of his life. I'm wondering if there is a source that connects the two together, or if Olympedia made the connection itself. BilledMammal (talk) 04:06, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- @BilledMammal: Got it. I sent some emails out and will let you know if I hear anything one way or another. Canadian Paul 04:07, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

- There’s not a hint of gymnastics in those articles. Given that he worked as a teacher for some years and his subjects are listed, that’s surprising. Especially since gymnastics was a big thing in Germany. If I knew where to find contemporary German newspapers, I’d happily take a look how Jordan was described in 1912. Right, I've had a look for contemporary newspapers and have documented how the German gymnastics team came about. The team was provided by Leipzig University. Jordan did study at "Jena and Leipzig", so it's well within the realm of possibility that our scientist was one of the 20 students who travelled to Stockholm. Schwede66 08:58, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- And this source lists Jordan as being from Pfeffdorf (spelled "Pfaffdorf" in another source). I've had a look but cannot find a locality of that name. Schwede66 09:11, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- Gotcha. I see he was born in "Papstdorf". "Dorf" means village and "Pfaffe" is an old German name for a catholic priest or a pope (German: Papst). Pfaffdorf would thus be an old name for Papstdorf. My pleasure. Schwede66 09:24, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you; same name and born in the same small village strongly supports them being the same person. BilledMammal (talk) 21:38, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
- The response I got from my emails was that the Karl Jordan who was in the Olympics and the Karl Jordan who was the zoologist have the same birthday, according to the entry lists for the Games. Canadian Paul 05:52, 18 November 2022 (UTC)

Hi, Paul. Věra Drazdíková born 1933, died 1983 was the Olympian, I believe. Here: https://web2.mlp.cz/koweb/00/04/54/27/84/vera_caslavska.pdf she's mentioned as Věra Drazdíková-Trmalová. Here: https://issuu.com/usagymnastics/docs/1974_9nov there is a news about a marriage of Milan Med and Vera Medova-Trmalova, here: https://issuu.com/usagymnastics/docs/1975_11nov we can find small report about Vera Medova's work for gymnastics work. And the photo of the grave on Billion Graves is for Věra Medová Drazdíková. Greetings Pbk (talk) 13:54, 18 January 2023 (UTC) PS. And on Czech Misplaced Pages someone wrote "Na Vinohradském hřbitově je hrob s pěti olympijskými kruhy, jménem Věra Medová Drazdíková, mistryně sportu, zasloužilá trenérka, s životními daty 1933 - 1983"! https://cs.wikipedia.org/Diskuse%3AV%C4%9Bra_Van%C4%8Durov%C3%A1 --Pbk (talk) 14:02, 18 January 2023 (UTC)

Hi Paul, Iris Cummings is noted as the last survivor of the 1936 Olympics (based on your list), but there is no DoD for Ingeborg Schmitz who is not on the living list. Do you have by further info on her? Cheers, DerbyCountyinNZ 00:14, 31 January 2023 (UTC)
- Unfortunately not. I believe she is deceased, because there was a source some time back that said all German medalists from that edition were deceased, but I don't have any information other than that. Sorry. Canadian Paul 03:44, 3 February 2023 (UTC)
Radu Nicolae, a missing Olympian?
Hello Paul, I've come across the obituary of a Romanian rower. Radu Nicolae has won medals at the 1955 European Rowing Championships (men) (1 x gold) and 1957 European Rowing Championships (2 x bronze). So far so good. The obituary also mentions that he has won "12 national titles" and coached for 25 years, so he wasn't exactly a nobody. What is surprising is that the Google translation of the obituary says that his "best performance he achieved at the Olympic Games was qualifying in the semi-finals in 1960". It was the coxed four that made it to the semi-finals. But no sign of Nicolae. Looking at Romania's participation in at the 1960 Olympics, other boats didn't make it as far as the semi-finals. But in either case, no sign of Nicolae. I've looked through the rowing section of the relevant Olympic report but again no sign of Nicolae. Did he maybe travel as a reserve to the Olympics without getting a call up? Maybe your team has somebody in Romania who could have a look at this. Schwede66 03:26, 8 March 2023 (UTC)
- I'll take a look into it; most likely the obituary is either exaggerating his participation (as in, he was selected but didn't make the trip) or mistaken, as this happens from time to time with individuals. It might be something genuinely missed, however, so I'll let you know what I find. Canadian Paul 03:02, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but I completely forgot about this! I'll get on it and let you know! Canadian Paul 02:24, 27 April 2023 (UTC)
- @Schwede66: No one was able to find any evidence that he was a part of the Rome Olympics in any capacity, even as a reserve. Possibly he was involved in helping Romania qualify for the Olympics? Either way, unless there's any additional evidence, it does not seem that he was an Olympian of any kind. Canadian Paul 02:43, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
- Excellent. Thanks to all involved for looking into it. Schwede66 05:53, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

Birrell brothers
Hi, I was looking through the British athletes who competed at the 1948 Olympics and I noticed that two brothers seem to have the same full name.
Joseph Robert Birrell, born 1930 and competed in 1948 - https://www.olympedia.org/athletes/68887 and https://en.wikipedia.org/Joe_Birrell
Joseph Robert Birrell, born 1938 and competed in 1960 - https://www.olympedia.org/athletes/68888 and https://en.wikipedia.org/Bob_Birrell
Looking on FreeBMD, the older brother is Joseph R and the younger brother is just Robert -
https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/information.pl?r=162127847:8414&d=bmd_1682618632
https://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/information.pl?r=176115550:4489&d=bmd_1682618632
I think Joseph has been added by mistake to Robert's name. Robert is likely Joseph's middle name as well (my middle name is Michael and I have a younger brother Michael. Michael is our dad's first name) and their dad was a Robert.

AfD
Hi Canadian Paul. You seem to be good at finding sources for Olympians. Can you find any for Vladimir Kryukov (currently at AFD)? BeanieFan11 (talk) 02:26, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- Looks like I was too late on this, but I could not find sources in any case. If more are found later, it can always be recreated, so long as the original issue in the AfD is addressed. Canadian Paul 05:01, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
Doug Day birth date
Hi CP. Might you have any sources that could verify Doug Day's date of birth? SportsGuy789 (talk) 21:26, 3 August 2023 (UTC)

Fred Strachan
Allow me to bring Fred Strachan to your attention. No, he never went to the Olympics. But he trained a stack of Kiwis for domestic and international competitions. After a career as a competitive rower, he racked up an impressive 64 years as a rowing coach. An absolute legend. He looked after the 1972 New Zealand eight. I couldn't find any mention of when he retired but I remember the incident that led to it (he fell over in his boat and ran over a rowing skiff, resulting in some injuries) and it feels like that was about 5 years ago. He turns 100 today. Happy birthday, Fred, and many happy returns. Schwede66 09:22, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- Excellent. I'll add him to the list of Nonagenarians! Canadian Paul 05:43, 25 August 2023 (UTC)
POV on Digamber Singh
Hey @Canadian Paul, I came across one of your edits on Natwar Singh , really good work on making it neutral. If you have the time, I would like to request you to take a look at Digamber Singh as the major contributors were all socks of a particular user. I felt that a fresh set of eyes would help that article a lot. Thank you! Jeraxmoira (talk) 14:29, 21 August 2023 (UTC)

Stu Griffing
Hi CP, I've submitted death information for Stu Griffing to Olympedia, but they don't seem to have updated his page annoyingly. I see you've now removed him from your oldest living Olympians list. I sent a screenshot of the death record on Accurint (with full date of death included). I thought that would suffice. There's also a less reliable source in the form of a family tree on Ancestry where they've added in the death details. Anyway, do you know why it wasn't approved? Thanks Jkaharper (talk) 21:53, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
- Usually with recent American deaths, there's a desire to dot the "i"s and cross the "t"s so to speak. Since the founder of the project has a lot of American ties, he likes not to rely on database information if possible. For example, for Gordy Giovanelli, he contacted the family before updating to confirm all of the details. Canadian Paul 01:50, 27 October 2023 (UTC)

Olympian PROD
If I remember correctly, you were good at finding sources on Olympians in Arabic countries. Do you think you could see if you can find anything on Charles El-Gressy (), an Olympic fencer from Morocco that was PRODed? (I remembered this a little late, so it may be deleted by the time you notice this. I attached his Olympedia profile in case.) BeanieFan11 (talk) 19:41, 17 January 2024 (UTC)
- I went ahead and removed the PROD because a) not meeting a subcriteria is not a deletion rationale and b) pages for postwar Olympians have not been uncontroversial at AfD, so a PROD does not seem appropriate. I will take a look for some sources, as it will likely end up at AfD anyways, but for Moroccans I usually have better luck searching in French than Arabic. Canadian Paul 03:34, 18 January 2024 (UTC)
- Another one: Hussain Ali Nasayyif (Iraqi sprinter, AFD). If you have the time, do you think you could see if you can find anything? Thanks, BeanieFan11 (talk) 02:04, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
- I'll take a look and see what I can find. Canadian Paul 02:20, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

Jeff Robinson DOB
Hi CP! Might any of your birth registry sources have Jeff Robinson (Siena basketball)'s? SportsGuy789 (talk) 20:59, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
- Somehow I missed this, sorry. I'll take a look tomorrow and see if I can find anything. Canadian Paul 05:18, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- I took a look and could not find anything definitive, other than that his middle initial is O.: https://www.siena.edu/alumni-and-friends/alumni-relations/awards-recognitions/athletic-hall-of-fame-inductees/. Might help future searches, but I couldn't get further than that; sorry. Canadian Paul 05:21, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
Kalima Amankulova
Hi Paul, I just had another look at Talk:Lists of centenarians/Potential candidates and found that there was a 2021 edit to Amankulova's Russian article giving a YoD as 2002. Her Swedish article was changed a year ago, giving DoD as 4 October 2002, with the edit summary saying the change was based on her Russian Wiki article. In neither case is there an actual source for her death. Hopefully this will help a little! Cheers, DerbyCountyinNZ 05:04, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'll take a look into it and see if I can find anything! Canadian Paul 05:05, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for July 15
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Hamblin González, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page La Prensa. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Moira de Villiers
Two things about Moira de Villiers:
- Lower case for "de" is the correct spelling.
- She's also known as Moira Koster as she's married to Jason Koster.

RIP Olympedia?
I read: Since 1 January 2024, this site is no longer updated
. Oh no! What happened? That's very sad indeed. Schwede66 10:30, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
- Just some disagreements between the IOC and the holders of the private database behind the public site. The private database is still updated regularly (in fact, it has almost all of the current 2024 results!), so hopefully it will become accessible again in the near future! Canadian Paul 05:23, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- Ah. Bureaucracy. I'm not sure whether I should be elated or sad. But thanks for letting me know. Schwede66 06:29, 5 August 2024 (UTC)

Former speed skater Mary Margaret Meyers
Hello Canadian Paul. Your edit-reference for Mary Margaret Meyers date of death Mary Meyers' obituary shows another first name than the article name, Miriam Mimi instead of Mary Margaret. So are you sure that this is the same person? Cheers Migrant (talk – contribs) 21:09, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, the article itself, if you look at the archived version mentions explicitly that she was an Olympic silver medalist. "Mimi" appears to be a nickname rather than an actual given name. Canadian Paul 06:13, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
