In general, we try to aim for articles that cover the most important information about an institution without delving into a lot of detail about any particular aspect unless that detail is critical e.g., precise size of endowment, year of founding, number of students enrolled. A detailed listing of alumni who receive a particular award from the institution doesn't seem to be the kind of critical information we should include in an encyclopedia article.

As you are probably aware, the ] page was the subject of an AfD and the result was, of course, "Keep". Currently, the logos are a point of contention with myself saying that they were part of the "Keep", while ] saying they were to be dropped and the article was to remain.

I asked the ] who closed the AfD his opinion and he replied, "I just said the article was to be kept, I don't know about the logos". There wasn't a decision given on the logos and in the AfD only 3 users said the logos should go, only 1 said keep the article, lose the logos.

I am not sure how to handle this, but since the ] who closed the AfD made no decision and the AfD wasn't about the logos in the first place (and the majority said to keep the logos if you want to be picky about it, as far as I can tell).

This wasn't an issue from April 16th (immediately after the AfD) to May 3rd when ] realized that I was blocked for 48hours (not related to this) and I couldn't revert his changes. ] had no interest and made no changes on the page itself or the talk page during that time. So, to me, his initial revert on May 3rd was done because of my block.


Unfortunately those edits I rolled back were not constructive. The mobile user at issue has a long history of overlinking, adding unnecessary year ranges, etc. — and does not respond to messages. They have been banned multiple times for this: ] ] (]) 22:49, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
I have asked two admins (in case one is offline) to revert his changes and put a block on the page until this can be worked out. Hi,

I just noticed the flag you left about excessive use of images. I'm a little confused because I based my addition off existing articles about universities (see Harvard or Yale) that utilize the same type of gallery for notable alumni, with even more images (Harvard article uses 30 images, Yale uses 28), but none of those have been flagged for the same issue. Are those not flagged because you didn't notice, or is there something particular about my edits?

As I mentioned on ESkog's page, I have put in to kuru (the admin who currently oversaw this months ago) to protect the articles in question, as it seems no one wants to use the discussion page. The conflict seems to be revolving around someone's person thought that "images" can not be used as references. Who made this rule up in the past 2/3 months since that revision was made? It's hard to rely on the discussion page when many users just edit to what they see fit. Normally, someone adds the section back and the editor who deleted information moves on. If these editors are truly problematic (history of blocks, sockpuppets, etc.) then that should be mentioned.

You may find it helpful to review our general policy on what Misplaced Pages is not and our specific guidance on what we typically include in articles about colleges and universities. In general, we try to aim for articles that cover the most important information about an institution without delving into a lot of detail about any particular aspect unless that detail is critical e.g., precise size of endowment, year of founding, number of students enrolled. A detailed listing of alumni who receive a particular award from the institution doesn't seem to be the kind of critical information we should include in an encyclopedia article.

Unfortunately those edits I rolled back were not constructive. The mobile user at issue has a long history of overlinking, adding unnecessary year ranges, etc. — and does not respond to messages. Johns Hopkins University article notable alumni

Hi, I just noticed the flag you left about excessive use of images. I'm a little confused because I based my addition off existing articles about universities (see Harvard or Yale) that utilize the same type of gallery for notable alumni, with even more images (Harvard article uses 30 images, Yale uses 28), but none of those have been flagged for the same issue. Are those not flagged because you didn't notice, or is there something particular about my edits? Thanks for the clarification. Can you suggest some edits or changes I should make? I'm not exactly sure what constitutes "excessive" or "unencyclopedic" use of images.
