Mousesports

Hello, I looked at several articles about teams in the G7 Teams, and many of them have had trolls go after them, looking for deletion and merging with G7 Teams. I face a similar problem, because I sucessfully prevented a vandal Misplaced Pages user called TheRedPenOfDoom from convincing the administrators to delete the Mousesports page. Obviously, he doesn't just quit and he's now requesting it be merged with the G7 Teams page, just as the other teams have been requested in the past. Since you've contributed to this in the past, I was wondering whether or not you might like to comment on it in the Discussion page? communicat dispute

Thanks your offer to fix dubious sources, parity sourcing. You'll be wasting your time if you try uploading any marxist and/or left=leaning sources to balance POV in line with rules. This is a long story, going way back, and it also includes an AFD'd WW2-related article. The conservative milhist Old Guard at WW2 article are and have for a long time been very well entrenched, and they defend "their" ideologically clouded territory with every means possible against intruders with new ideas or ideas that deviate from the conservative mainstream. Have a look at the various threads, particularly under headings: WW2 origins of Cold War, Flawed Overview, Editing Dispute, Anti-Communist prejudice, Communist-led Resistance, etc. You will see that I took a lot of time and trouble to provide Soviet / Marxist / Western revisionist sources to support proposed edits and discussion. Those sources were instantly and rudely dismissed and rejected by the Old Guard, using stupid false pretexts like "can't be found", meaning presumably can't be found on internet, and too much trouble to visit any good university reference library.

Between the Lies is relevant only indirectly and to the extent that it provides a useful example of how just one apparently revisionist / leftleaning proposed link will come under very intense scrutiny and vetting for reliability etc, whereas clearly unreliable and/or biased mainstream sources are allowed to pass unchallenged and without scrutiny.

A clear and binding ruling must now first be obtained from wiki via mediation/arbitration before anyone wastes anymore time or effort (as I already have) trying to balance edits objectively and in line with stated policy.

If you really want to obtain that Winer book, why not just download it free of charge from the internet? More than two million interested parties have gone that route so far, as I've learnt through correspondence with Coldtype.net and others while doing research for a print-media article about free e-book downloads. You'll even find a pirated Chinese Mandarin translated online edition if you try hard enough.

brutal korea apology

Sorry, I've figured out now what happened. I was working from a hardcopy that I'd printed out a few days earlier, without realising that the two refs had in the meantime been changed by someone for some strange reason by joining two the refs together. In short, my hardcopy was different from your onscreen version. Hence we were literally not on the same page. I contribute to the extent I have time and interest. If you check my editing history, sometimes I write and edit a lot. Other periods, I don't even login. I've written several articles and edited many more, but this shouldn't devolve into a pissing contest about who 'edits more'.

506th links

Why change it back? I discussed the move with an admin, who agreed it was unnecessary disambiguation. There were 5 different redirects produced by previous page moves, which is utterly ridiculous. Unless and until there is another 506th Infantry Regiment, there is no need to add the (United States) qualifier. Two admins agreed with me, or the db-move would not have been performed. ---RepublicanJacobite_{The'FortyFive'} 17:11, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

The trouble is that every US military unit's page was changed to that format a few years ago and almost none of them have a need for the disambiguation. There was no need for it at the time, and there is no need for it now, but a decision was made back then to change all of them to include the disambiguation. We can, of course, go through every unit article and remove it where it is unneccessary, but I suspect that in another year or two, someone will consult two admins and decide that all of the articles need to have it placed in there again. I found where the naming standard was defined in the manual of style, with the numerical designator causing these articles to fall into the 'pre-emptively disambiguated' category . Re Moran

Thanks for contacting me on my talk page, rather than just reverting.

I'll point out that I'm an outsider, geographically at least, and came upon the article by chance. The reason I reverted wasn't so much about the controversy itself, which is probably quite notable enough to merit inclusion (I've a vague recollection of seeing it reported this side of the Atlantic). I just feel it is unbalanced. Without knowing the context of what Moran said, it is difficult to judge his intent, and the section doesn't provide this. Also, it seems distinctly POV to note Murray's 'challenge' regarding Arlington without indicating what the response might have been. I'd have thought that if the facts were as clear-cut as the section makes out, a more neutral tone would actually get the point across more effectively, as well as being more in the spirit of Misplaced Pages standards. Some clarification.

You recent edit demonstrates that you somewhat misunderstand the EEML issue. Petri had never been a member of the EEML. I would say, the opposite is true, he is among the most active and persistent opponents of this group of editors. In addition, by the time the conflict around the EEML issue was raging, he served a one year block for legal threat, so he simply physically was unable to be involved. your suggestion re RFC - communicat

Hi, Thanks for your suggestion noted. There are actually multiple issues, with multiple noticeboards, so if this is to be done properly, I'd have to fight the action on several fronts simulataneously. Which I'm no longer prepared to do.

In the meantime, as far as I'm concerned, for all practical purposes, and despite arbcom rejection, the main dispute has resolved itself. For the past two weeks since the filing Arbcom request, there has been no further harrassment, edit warring and disruption of my edits. Thanks for your interest. Multi Gaming Clan

Hi mate, I didnt know that someone had tried to create a page on multi gaming clans thats why I started one. Feel free to give me a hand as I would love to keep this page on wiki as its my first atempt of making a page :) I have more info to add to the page and I'm sure if a couple of people help me out we can keep the page active and keep updating it with current events and information on the subject.

Yes, you did it right. What I was trying to say is that there is not enough difference between what appears in Clan (computer gaming) and what would go into Multi Gaming Clan, and Multi Gaming Clan is not a term used by the media (newspapers, web pages, books, etc), so the article would be likely deleted. --Habap (talk) 17:52, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

While the plagiarism flabbergasted me, it explains why Communicat had little idea about the contradictions in "his" sources and why he had to admit to never having read Wigfall Green for example. The (nationalistic only) Russians

It's so sad that history has finally exposed a few nationalistic extremists (not all Russians) as Holocaust deniers! If you read Germany 1945, The Fall of Berlin 1945, and watch Auschwitz: Inside the Nazi State, you will understand what the Russians did to Jews, Poles, Russians, Communists, and other victims of the Nazis. You will also realize that the nationalistic Russians who deny the these crimes against Holocaust victims, immediately after the Holocaust (effectively a perpetuation), are Holocaust Deniers.

It doesn't surprise me at all that Russian nationalists would be Holocaust deniers. There is a long history of Anti-Semitism in Russia, as there is in most of Europe (I only saw most because I don't know whether there are countries without it). I studied the Soviet Union in college (back when it still existed), so am familiar with the history of Russia and this strain of nationalism. --Habap (talk) 14:37, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

April 2021 WikiProject Military History Reviewing Drive

Hey y'all, the April 2021 WikiProject Military History Reviewing Drive begins at 00:01 UTC on April 1, 2021 and runs through 23:59 UTC on April 31, 2021. Points can be earned through reviewing articles on the AutoCheck report, reviewing articles listed at WP:MILHIST/ASSESS, reviewing MILHIST-tagged articles at WP:GAN or WP:FAC, and reviewing articles submitted at WP:MILHIST/ACR. Service awards and barnstars are given for set points thresholds, and the top three finishers will receive further awards. Wikiproject Military history coordinator election nominations opening soon

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election are opening in a few hours (00:01 UTC on 1 September). A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next coordination year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here.
