Uh - that's a little ghoulish, maybe, but fortunately Misplaced Pages enables such stalker-like impulses (in the spirit of "community-building", maybe) via the "User contributions" page. moves and deletions

Don't selectively delete discussions from talk pages. Refactoring is allowed and encouraged, but that does not entail deleting a single section, especially not one you've been asked to not delete before. Also, do not move important pages without first discussing. it. The title for the September 11 page was long argued, and your move was grammatically incompetent. —Ben Brockert (42) 21:40, May 11, 2005 (UTC)

Your RfA

Hi, CJS. I highly recommend you withdraw your self-nomination for adminship. With less than 150 edits, you are almost certainly going to be opposed by most (if not all) of the voters who frequent the Requests for adminship forum. I recommend editing Misplaced Pages and getting some more experience for a while before you re-apply. Generally, 1000 edits is seen as a bare minimum, and you are probably better off waiting until you have about 3000. In addition, a lot of voters like to see the use of edit summaries when you're editing pages; that way people looking through their Watchlists or the page history can easily see what your edit was about. Also, the things you said you wanted to do as an admin, such as reverting vandalism and getting rid of POVs, can be done with your current editing privileges. I hope you keep contributing to Misplaced Pages and come back to apply for adminship again in the future. Good luck. —Cleared as filed. 00:46, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

Welcome to Esperanza!

Welcome, ChazJS, to Esperanza, the Misplaced Pages member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Misplaced Pages events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. Redwolf24 runs the spam to keep members up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.

I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee comprised of FireFox, Flcelloguy, Titoxd, and Karmafist. The next set of elections will be in February, and I would be glad to see you vote, or even consider running for a position.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). An Esperanzial note

As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.

In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Misplaced Pages:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)

Another Esperanzial note...

Hi again Esperanzians! Well, since our last frolic in the realms of news, the Advisory Council has met twice more (see WP:ESP/ACM2 and WP:ESP/ACM3). As a result, the charter has been ammended twice (see here for details) and all of the shortcuts have been standardised (see the summary for more details). Also of note is the Valentines ball that will take place in the Esperanza IRC channel on the 14th of February (tomorrow). It will start at 6pm UTC and go on until everyone's had enough! I hope to see you all there! Also, the spamlist has been dissolved - all Esperanzians will now recieve this update "newsletter".

The other major notice I need to tell you about is the upcoming Esperanza Advisory Council Elections. These will take place from 12:00 UTC on February 20th to 11:59 UTC on February 27th. The official handing-over will take place the following day. Candidates are able to volunteer any time before the 20th, so long as they are already listed on the members list. Anyone currently listed on the memberlist can vote. In a change since last time, if you have already been a member of the leadership, you may run again. Due to the neutrality precident, I will not vote for anyone.

WikiProject NASCAR needs your help! We are in the process of forming our proposed standards which, when complete, will hopefully become a Misplaced Pages guideline. The guidelines will help editors understand Misplaced Pages consensus about things like which NASCAR-related articles meet notability standards. Please stop by and let us know what you think! A short Esperanzial update

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Misplaced Pages:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Why do you keep editing the DVD releases section in the "Full House" article? "Happy Birthday, Babies" (season five) and "Michelle Rides Again" (season eight) originally aired as one-hour episodes (which were split into two parts for syndication)! Gabrielkat 21:49, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

September Esperanza Newsletter

Welcome to the AMA!

Hello Chaz, I see that you have decided to join the AMA (we're a little late with this one). I'll be the first to say welcome! We're always in need of more advocates, especially since were backloged most of the time. Just a few pointers for what we do. We communicate by putting a template on our talk page. The template is {{AMA alerts}}. The AMA also has it's own IRC channel which reports new cases to us, and also new alerts. If you'd like to jump right into a case, you can check out WP:AMARQ, which is our new request for advocacy system. The instructions for how the technical part works is on the talk page. Welcome! Welcome to the new WikiProject Roller Coasters Newsletter! Until now, in spite of a decent number of members signed up to the WikiProject, we have had no regular progress updates or information as to how much of a difference our contributions are making. This monthly newsletter aims to provide an overview of all the work that is being done behind the scenes and to celebrate the successes that would otherwise pass by unseen. Any suggestions for future additions and general help with the newsletter will be greatly appreciated.
Articles and Assessment As can be seen on the assessment page, we are so close to finishing off assessment. If all current members of the WikiProject assessed just 2 articles, the backlog of unassessed-quality articles would be eliminated. The vast majority of articles are currently assessed as stubs, which is probably to be expected as many contain an infobox and nothing else. Getting these up to start-class is incredibly easy, many simply need references and tidying up. Even if you have very little knowledge on the article subject, this task should be fairly straightforward and is the first step in raising overall article quality. The following articles reached B-class quality during November: Speed Monster
Amusement Park Portal The Amusement Park Portal is now automatically linked to from the roller coaster infoboxes. It's important to remember that we need to integrate our articles with those covered by the Amusement Park WikiProject. When working on a roller coaster article, it's always a good idea to ensure that there is a wikilink from the relevant amusement park article, otherwise no-one will even know the article exists!
Membership News During November the WikiProject was joined by 3 new members, bringing the total number up to 49. The to do list continues to serve as a place for flagging up articles in need of attention, review or comments.
B-class Drive Just to get the idea out there, I'd like to propose a monthly article drive. With the poor state of most of the articles, it's unreasonable to suggest even a GA-drive, so a B-class drive would be more realistic. Any suggestions for January's article can be brought up on the WikiProject Talk Page. Suggested articles should be presently at start or stub class and have sufficient reliable sources available to work from.

Welcome! Welcome to the second WikiProject Roller Coasters Newsletter! December has seen some real progress in terms of bringing up the quality of roller coaster related articles on Misplaced Pages. Assessment and tagging of articles is almost completely done and efforts are now being focussed on quality and improving articles. This month also sees the start of the new B-class drive, a brilliant way to get involved with the WikiProject and achieve something together.
Articles and Assessment As far as assessment goes, the backlog from last month was cleared almost immediately after the last newsletter went out, almost single-handedly by Alton! A progress chart can be seen on the assessment page that shows we are slowly dragging up the quality of the articles covered by the WikiProject. The following articles reached B-class quality during December: Griffon (roller coaster)  • Magnum XL-200  • Maverick (roller coaster)  • Nemesis (roller coaster)  • SheiKra
Amusement Parks Portal The Amusement Parks Portal has been significantly expanded over the past month and is currently a candidate for featured portal. Any suggestions for featured articles and pictures can be put forward on their respective sections.
Membership News During December the WikiProject was joined by 2 new members, bringing the total number up to 49 after 2 inactive users were removed from the member list. The to do list continues to serve as a place for flagging up articles in need of attention, review or comments.
B-class Drive This month's B-class Drive: Arrow Dynamics So here is the first article improvement drive for the WikiProject, Arrow Dynamics. There isn't a huge amount that needs doing apart from the addition of references, formatting and a copyedit. For any outstanding contributions there are barnstars available which can be given to and by anyone! Any suggestions for February's B-class Drive can be brought up on the talk page, so if there's a particular article you feel could benefit from more input then feel free to suggest it.

Welcome! Welcome to the WikiProject Roller Coasters Newsletter! January has seen a number of milestones being passed in the WikiProject. We've achieved our first good article, brought a portal up to featured portal status and successfully collaborated together on the first Article Improvement Drive, amongst other achievements. Let's carry on with the good work and continue bringing up the standard of all articles covered by the WikiProject!
Articles and Assessment We hit a milestone in January with our first GA-class article, Speed Monster! This shows just how easy it is improve articles by including references and increasing readability. Collaboration has got off to a good start, with the first chosen article, Arrow Dynamics, improving enough to reach B-class. The following articles reached GA-class or B-class quality during January: Speed Monster  • Arrow Dynamics  • Bolliger & Mabillard
Amusement Parks Portal The Amusement Parks Portal reached featured portal status during January! You can still nominate articles for the selected content sections on the portal.
Membership News During January the WikiProject was joined by 6 new members, bringing the total number up to 55. A very warm welcome to Etf, CPGACoast, RickMarkestein, Emackert, Onewayroad2home and Suttna08. The to do list continues to serve as a place for flagging up articles in need of attention, review or comments. A discussion is taking place regarding the best way to organise information about roller coaster records and the history of roller coasters. All members' opinions are welcomed; the discussion can be found here.
Article Improvement Drive This month's Article Improvement Drive: Roller coaster Why not start at the top?! The main article is already at B class and, with a little help, isn't too far away from GA class. Please see the collaboration page for further information. Any suggestions for March's Article Improvement Drive can be brought up on the talk page, so if there's a particular article you feel could benefit from more input then feel free to suggest it.

WikiProject Celtics Newsletter Volume III, No. 3 - April 2008 In this issue Project News - Recent news from the Wikiproject including FA and GA articles Team News - Games won and lost by the Boston Celtics and current records. Collaboration - As April began, Paul Pierce is now the collaboration. Featured Picture - A selected image for the newsletter. Project News There are currently no unassessed articles in the Wikiproject. This was done because of a great help and effort by Basketball110, and Stormtracker94. The main project page received a redesign that was blatantly was stolen from the Green Bay Packers Wikiproject. It is encouraged that all members keep both the main project page and the main project talk page on their watchlist to see any new information that may be posted there. The project currently has a total of twenty-two (22) members. It is suggested that you invite anyone who may be interesting in contributing in this project. When inviting someone please use {{WP CELTICS INVITE}}. If they do accept the invite, please welcome them with {{WPCELTICSwelcome}}. Our main goal for the project to bring Boston Celtics up to featured article status still stands. The article was chosen as March's collaboration and a good amount of effort was done improving the article by 8-Hype, Stormtracker94, and RC-0722. Your help is appreciated. Thanks for your response Chaz; I agree to an extent with you on the issue of abortion. I personally find the act of abortion to be immoral, however, in the 1950s one of the leading causes of death for women was from injuries received during illegal abortions. And yet, while it was illegal, the number of abortions were at the same rate as they are now, the only difference being that these days abortions can be safely performed without risking the life of the mother. So my opinion is that abortions will happen whether they are legal or not, but since they will happen they ought to be safe and legal. But I do agree that abortion is not a good thing. I also have a certain amount of respect for John McCain, but he has turned out to be more of a political opportunist than I would have thought. Nice talking to you; all the best. WikiProject The Beatles Newsletter Issue 013 – July 2008
Beatles News A nine-minute interview with Paul McCartney and John Lennon has surfaced that had been lost since 30 April 1964, after they returned from their first American tour. Paul Weller played an unexpected cover of The Beatles' "All You Need Is Love" during a gig being staged as part of London's iTunes Festival. "Beatles Day – Imagine The Concert" will be a part of this year’s Summer Pops Festival. Prime Minister Gordon Brown has revealed his favourite Beatles song - "All My Loving" - because he played it on the piano as a young upstart. McCartney and Starr will be among the stars to honour Sir George Martin at USC Representatives for The Beatles, Activision Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI), and MTV Games are in talks about developing a Beatles-themed video game versions of Guitar Hero (series) and Rock Band (video game). McCartney talked about his last moments with Harrison, just days before his death. Rare photos of The Beatles are to go on display in Little Chalfont next week. Yoko Ono plans to appeal a failed lawsuit against a filmmaker who used a piece of footage from the Imagine (film) without permission. US District Judge Sidney Stein found in favour of the filmmakers based on Fair use. (Interesting for Misplaced Pages editors...) Ringo Starr's new album, Liverpool 8, only sold 7,000 copies in its first week of release. Project News As you may have seen, the talk page banner changed a bit. It has a couple of bugs (most notably the categorisation problems), but the {{WPBannerMeta}} standardisation was long overdue. Thank you to Dendodge for sorting it. The newsletter's back after a very positive reaction, and thanks are again due to Dendodge. Article adoptions: Heather Mills will be a hot topic next month, as the truth will be referenced. The hottest Project page this month has been The Quarrymen (now a GA). It reveals the most accurate history of their early days, because so many other web pages tell a completely untrue story (one web page said they lost a Carroll Levis competition to a woman who played the spoons :) Other Project news The project now has 5 FA articles, and 33 GA articles. George Harrison, Ringo Starr, and Klaus Voormann are still B-class articles, as is Yoko Ono (will she ever get a GA rating?) Member News New members to the project (since the last issue, which was a long time ago) include a lot of names, which can be found here.... Project member news:	Issue of the Month Apart from the usual vandals, there is an ongoing problem with Misplaced Pages editors deleting free and fair-use photos because they don't think they are of any value to articles, even though this sometimes leaves articles with no photos at all. These editors do not leave notes on talk pages, so if you see that a photo has vanished, check the talk page and the history log. From the Editors It's been a while, but the newsletter's back! After a short discussion on the project talk page, seemingly unanimous consensus to bring it back was reached. This issue, and subsequent ones, will probably be shorter - as we kept running out of things to say before! There's a lot to say this month, purely due to the long absence of a newsletter, but we'll keep it as brief as possible. In order to get delivery by Denbot sorted, the special delivery interface has been changed slightly - but existing delivery options still stand. Inactive participants who want delivery should place their names on this list. If you've just joined, add your name to the Participants section of Misplaced Pages:WikiProject The Beatles. You'll get a mention in the next issue of the Newsletter and get it delivered as desired. Also, please include your own promotions and awards in future issues. Don't be shy! Adrianne Wadewitz Memorial edit-a-thons

As you may have already heard, the Misplaced Pages community lost an invaluable member of the community last month. Adrianne Wadewitz was a feminist scholar of 18th-Century British literature, and a prolific editor of the site. As part of a worldwide series of tributes, New England Wikimedians, in conjunction with local institutions of higher learning, have created three edit-a-thons that will be occurring in May and June. The events are as follows: May 21st at Northeastern University's Snell Library, in the Digital Scholarship Commons on the second floor May 22nd at Brown University's Rockefeller Library, in the Digital Scholarship Lab June 25th at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (exact location TBA), where we will also be hosting a "how to conduct an edit-a-thon" session beforehand We hope that you will be able to join us, whether you are an experienced editor or are using Misplaced Pages for the first time.
