Thanks for the message, Wilhelmina. With great power comes great responsibility, and no admin should be so self-confident as to think that they can't make errors. I know vandalism can be a pain in the neck. I have an article on watch for a favorite actress of mine, and it burns me up every time it gets vandalized (which has happened quite a bit), to the point where I want to give them all vandal4 warnings. Don't become too personally attached to articles. I'm not saying don't revert the vandalisms and warn vandals, but do so in a way that is adherent to policy. I encourage you to check out ]. There's a complete list of all the things someone can be warned for at various levels (I usually start with level 1 or 2, unless it's a massive amount of vandalism, and work from there), as well as templates to place on the user's talkpage. It should be guranteed that the article will have images and other things required. But this could take time. Misplaced Pages is so strict regards to the embedding of images. The plot summaries you made regarding those episodes on my talk page aren't bad. They're one of the few episodes I have seen. If you plan to make articles regarding those episodes, add a category at the bottom of the page and named it like "Iggy Arbuckle Episodes." Also, they should contain sufficient info so that they won't become candidates for speed delete. ] 04:32, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

==Original research==
Just because some person on a fansite says that she dreamt about the characters doesn't mean they exist in an alternate universe. I dream about Buffy characters sometimes, it doesn't mean they're real, it just means that I watch the show a lot so it's part of my subconscious. I really hope you'll drop this theory now because frankly it's getting boring. Respecting another person's beliefs is one thing, but claiming that the South Park characters are real is just ludicrous.

== Your recent edit at ] ==
Original research is "unpublished facts, arguments, concepts, statements, or theories." To find out more see ]. The reason I objected was because the South Park character articles are written from an in-universe perspective. They discuss the character's hobbies and make assumptions about them based on their actions. None of this information has any real world context or is sourced by the writers or critics of the show, which makes it irrelevant and original research. That might be okay on , which I see you are a member of, but not on an encyclopedia like Misplaced Pages. (That sounded snobbier than I meant it, I like Wikias.) You have even objected to characters being referred to as fictional, and reverted people who have tried to include this because it is an "insult" to the characters. When I challenged you about this, you claimed that we can't know the characters are fictional because of some dream some fan apparently had. None of this is a valid defense for the state of the current articles. For good examples of how fictional character articles ''should'' be written, see ], ], ], and ], among others. ] 21:05, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

:Well, then that settles that. Thanks for the clarification. One thing I'll add though, as a perfectly non-prejudicial, non-"anti-religious" editor, is be careful not to let your mind open to far. Open mindedness is a good thing, and far less stressful than closemindedness. However, if you let your mind open too far, it is possible that your brain could fall out. I don't think it would be considered original research to post such a fact on ]'s page, as I did no research other than my own mental processes to arrive at that conclusion, but it probably would be considered unsourced ''trivia'', which is admittedly worse as far as Misplaced Pages content goes. I'll see if I can find it mentioned in someplace reputable, but like you said, I doubt I'll come up with anything. Thank you for the suggestion, though! ] 22:50, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

: I specified its likelihood as trivia because it's a mere nuance of name-association that warrants, at maximum, a single-sentence. "Original research" isn't solely limited to personal ideas that have yet to be published in some form. For example, if ''Product X'' were to have an article on Misplaced Pages, I could design a scientific experiment (going beyond the realm of mental processes) to test the efficacy of ''Product X'' in my basement, but I could not post the results of it here. If ] performed an experiment on ''Product X's'' efficacy, however, that would be fair grounds for publication. Anyway, this is a long response to a simple comment. Thank you again. - ] 23:04, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

:* First: I use templates for warnings. Second: Calling an editor "Idiot" is considered a personal attack. Your edit summary looked like this<blockquote>You idiot! Until season eight, she was secondary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=Image:WendySP.jpg&diff=prev&oldid=170179227</blockquote> Third: You don't need to agree with Misplaced Pages's policies, they exist and editors ought to follow these policies. I will not comment on your language and the rest of your text. Without words. ] 21:53, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
::* The editor who placed the ] tag is simply saying that the image fails #3 and #8 of ] which states:<blockquote>
3. (a) Minimal usage. As few non-free content uses as possible are included in each article and in Misplaced Pages as a whole. Multiple items are not used if one will suffice; one is used only if necessary.
(b) Minimal extent of use. An entire work is not used if a portion will suffice. Low- rather than high-resolution/fidelity/sample length is used (especially where the original could be used for piracy). This rule also applies to the copy in the Image: namespace.
8. Significance. Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding. Non-free media files are not used if they can be replaced by text that serves a similar function.
</blockquote>
I can't tell you if the character is indeed not significant to the whole topic. I'm also taking no sides here, I'm neutral. I mainly posted a warning on your talk page, because you were calling another editor names in your edit summary. You should resolve your dispute with user ] by yourself and without using any more personal attacks. Maybe they don't know South Park Wiki exists. I usually link to Buffyverse Wiki at the bottom of Misplaced Pages articles so people have a place to go to find the info not available or suitable for Misplaced Pages. It's a bit cheeky, since I'm trying to advertise the wiki and divert some traffic over there, but I do think it's important to link to external wikis since Misplaced Pages does support transwiki-ing info. In my experience, people trying to add trivia-type info are larely happy to be directed to a place where their contributions are appreciated rather than reverted, and I see some editors at Wikia who only found the site through Misplaced Pages. Some editors here complain that Wikia doesn't always pass ], but I argue that the ends justify the means because if people are directed to the site, then it stands more of a chance of passing WP:EL. I believe they two site should co-operate. Not to mention the fact that we link to ] and other cites, and they're not always reliable. Try gently directing editors adding inappropiate material here to the SP Wiki, or linking there on Misplaced Pages articles. Why do you ask anyway? :) ] ] 01:26, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

==Weird messages from ]==
:Yes, it can be frustrating, I agree with you. You feel as though there's a perfect solution and noone's taking advantage of it. I think the more developed the Wikia is, the more willing people are to contribute to it. The Buffyverse Wiki is becoming a bit more active lately (that's not saying much, but it is encouraging). The SP Wiki seems quite good actually, I'm sure how active it is but your articles are a lot less stubby than some Wikias. One way you might be able to lure a few editors over is with images - Misplaced Pages is very strict with non-free images and I think (not certain though) that Wikia is more welcoming. Maybe if you decorate the SP Wikia with lots of images and screencaps from episodes, people might think "Ooh, that's pretty I like it here." That's just a theory though. :P I've barely been on the Buffy Wiki lately, and my edit count over here has been lower than usual as well. I'm still full of intentions, like yourself, just been distracted with other things. ] ] 01:44, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

::Lol, sure thing. You might want to re-add some basic info to the Misplaced Pages Kyle article though. It barely even mentions that he's Jewish, which is one of his most basic character traits. Definitely get rid of the Death section from Misplaced Pages too, that's total fancruft. One thing when moving info to Wikia is fixing links. I often don't do it because I'm lazy but articles will sometimes have different titles and you'll have to adjust the links accordingly. For example, an article might be called "Imaginationland (South Park)" on Misplaced Pages but on SP Wiki it would just be "Imaginationland", if you know what I mean. Also, if you're linking something basic which SP Wiki doesn't have an article for, you might want to put <nowiki>]</nowiki> to link here instead. And remember to link to SP Wiki in the Misplaced Pages article "External links" section. :) See ]. ] ] 05:26, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

==Message from ]==
Come on - nothing on Misplaced Pages is so bad that you think about horrible things :) Just switch off the computer and step away for a while, do something fun, call a friend, go for a walk, all that sort of thing. Truly Misplaced Pages's not worth ''that''. If you need help with anything please do call on me. You have to understand that there are certain ways we do things around here, to avoid this sort of heartache. If your suggestions are not amenable to others, it's best to step away from the fight for a while and gain some perspective offline. Little things can really snowball around here and it can be hard for people to keep calm, but we all have to, otherwise this little deal would fall apart :) Please feel better. ~ ] 01:42, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
Note: Product ride time can be reduced any where from 10-20 minutes, on a fully charged battery, depending on riders weight; various riding conditions and/or if product has been properly maintained.
Battery shows fully charged, but goes low after 10-15 minutes of use and/or unit run (very) slow. Try the following:

Check riders weight & riding conditions, do not exceed the weight limit, go up a steep hill or attempt to tow objects. It is best to avoid these conditions at all times. Check air pressure in front and rear tires, if pressure is low, inflate tires to recommended PSI (located on tire sidewall) Check chain tension. If chain is too tight, refer to pg 6 in owner's manual. Check front brake pads for signs that they are rubbing against the front tire (rim). If the brake pads are rubbing, readjust the brakes (Refer to pg 4 in Owner's Manual) Make sure charger is plugged into charger port correctly & indicator lights are working properly. If the charger is not plugged into the charger port correctly, then make sure to plug charger into charger port correctly and charger for 8 hours (refer to page 3 in the Owner's Manual.) Secure unit; turn power on & with NO weight on the unit, lift back end up & apply the throttle, if the rear wheel spins freely, then replace the battery.
== Trolling ==

Take a look at ] ]''']''' 23:10, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Rear wheel barely moves. Try the following:
== A request, with all due respect. ==

Lift rear end up and manually spin rear wheel forward. Should spin 3-4 times with no resistance. If the wheel does not spin freely, replace rear wheel.
Please stop stalking me. Thank you. ] (]) 02:19, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
:Fine. Understand, then, that I am a part of the South Park Wikiproject, and watch just about every SP article. My edit was reverted by TTN, and he explained why in his summary. That was enough for me and I considered the case closed, and I made no further action to revive the article. I fail to understand, then, why you need to pop onto my talk page with a borderline insulting question written in an arrogant tone. "What on Earth are you doing?" is not a question conducive to a civil response; its tone is combative. I do not wish to engage in a confrontation with you. It may be best if we both try to keep out of each other's faces. What do you say? ] (]) 02:45, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
::Sorry, but you'll need to send another message if you want the last word. You have said, and I quote, "" I find this attitude towards Misplaced Pages offensive, and indicative that you have an agenda to disrupt and damage Misplaced Pages's South Park articles in an attempt to make the South Park wiki "better" somehow. Perhaps you should concentrate more on developing the South Park wiki and less on removing content from Misplaced Pages. Both can exist on the same internet, you know. Peace, out. ] (]) 18:19, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

:Regarding ''His?' - I actually was aware you were female... and after catching myself using the wrong pronoun towards the end of the message... I went through to double-check.. and fixed one or two places... somehow I missed that last one (probably because it was in a link). What always throws me off is the "Will"... desolé. As for why I even brought this up... I saw that in the log Bearian had unblocked, but the reason given was '''"Insufficient warning"''' ... which made it sound like WW had vandalized but hadn't been warned about it. Since past blocks reflect badly on an editor, I just wanted to make sure that the record was clear. Hi. To answer the question you left in your last edit summary, you need to add a lot more content to an article than just a single sentence and an external link. In other words, someone researching the subject already knows they're researching an extinct sea turtle. == AfC ==

Hi there, I see you're helping out at Afc, so thanks for that, any help is welcome to avoid the ghost of the backlog ever returning :) Anyway, I'd just like to give you a little pointer, when you create an article from an Afc submission you have to add a little disclaimer in the edit summary explaining that the article was created thru Afc and giving credit to the IP that submitted it. This is required by the ] so we really have to follow it. This is what I use: ''This article was created as part of the Misplaced Pages:Articles for creation backlong effort, submitted by IP:'' though of course any variation is fine. Thanks for helping out! ] (]) 21:48, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

: No problem, and thanks again for lending a hand :) ] (]) 22:11, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

::Hi again! Thanks for heeding my suggestion above, but theres an importating detail missing from you edit summaries (it was my fault though for not making it clear): The actual IP number. You have to say who it was that submitted the article to give proper credit per the GFDL, so saying it was submitted by an IP is not enought, you have to list the number. ==Userpage images license problems==
Hello! This is probably a simple clarification, but I wanted to bring it to your attention. The text on the image pages you have on your userpage seems to indicate that the images are "for Misplaced Pages only" (for example, stating that you give Misplaced Pages or other wikis permission to use them). This type of license is not compatible with free content, since one essential component of free content is that anyone must be allowed to use the content in any medium and for any purpose, whether the original or a modified version. Nonfree pictures may not be used in non-article space such as user pages. I see you have public-domain license tags on the images, did you really mean to release them public-domain (no restrictions on use whatsoever?) This would be fine, as would the GFDL or certain Creative Commons licenses, but in that case the text restricting the pictures to nonfree status should be removed for clarity's sake. If you need any help getting the licensing in order so the pictures can remain, please let me know! If you would prefer not to release your work under a free license at this time, please let me know as well and I will delete the images. ] <small>]</small> 00:42, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
:Not sure about hexes, but I'm not really clear. Does your permission extend to uses other than Misplaced Pages and other wikis, or is that something you wish to prohibit? As it stands, the images aren't under an acceptable license, since use outside of a certain medium (wikis) appears to be prohibited. I'm not really clear on whether that's your intent or not, since they're also public-domain tagged. ] <small>]</small> 02:20, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading ''']'''. Unfortunately, I think that you have not provided a proper rationale for using this image under "fair use". Using one of the templates at ] is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Misplaced Pages policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. '''Note that the image description page must include the ''exact name'' or a link to each article the image is used in and a separate rationale for each one.''' Delivered message from my userpage:

If you'll permit me to edit your page (I dunno what the rules are there, but delete this anytime), what is good speculation and what is bad, and who decides? If I speculate that Cartman is French, for example, why shouldn't my speculation go in the article? Where does it stop? It would be chaos. It's basically original research. That's why we have to base things on reliable sources, not on our own opinions. Hopefully a newspaper or DVD commentary will note as you have that Kevin and Esther may be twins, then it can go in wikipedia. 86.44.6.14 (talk) 02:22, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
It is the encylopedia that matters. And I think over time people have noticed that the encylopedia works best when people focus on the content submitted, not on the editor submitting it. :) You're completely right about how people shouldn't remove personal attacks from your talk page, btw (and wikipedia policy agrees: wp:rpa), even if they're probably just trying to be nice. 86.44.6.14 (talk) 02:22, 12 February 2008 (UTC)

Well, then that settles that. Cheers! Orphaned non-free media (Image:VeronicaStar.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:VeronicaStar.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Fair use rationale for Image:BabyPoof.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:BabyPoof.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Misplaced Pages constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 01:48, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Image:TimmyTurner.gif

Why are you defending an inferior image of Timmy Turner in the wrong format (GIF, vs. PNG)? According to Misplaced Pages's fair use policy, we cannot keep duplicate images if one of the images is unused. Also, images on Misplaced Pages should never be saved as GIF unless animated. On my version, I also removed the interlacing artifacts from the image. ANDROS 01:14, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Look, he can't be forced to listen to you. He has acknowledged your point, and continues to disagree with you. If you proceed in belaboring the point, you are going to be blocked for harassment and disruption. You are taking what was a small issue that did not concern you, and turning it into a bigger problem for yourself which may get you sanctioned. No one wants this, so please stop... --Jayron32.talk.contribs 04:17, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

For real... let it drop. All of it... Just forget it ever happened, make no further contact with APK, and make no further attempt to make comments ABOUT APK... This all goes away when you stop... --Jayron32.talk.contribs 04:27, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
I try. In the future, please try to de-escalate problems rather than escalate them. Getting to the point were admins are involved is always a bad course of action. Sometimes, the best thing to do is to be the "bigger person" and just walk away. Lets consider the whole matter closed. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 04:33, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Attack page deleted

You may not maintain a subpage that is a list of Wiki-enemies, and I have deleted the page as such. Please read WP:ATP, especially the line that reads: a "list of enemies" or "list of everything bad that some user ever did" is not constructive or appropriate. . Please stop this. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 04:24, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

And I've redeleted it as Users I don't see eye to eye with. Let the matter go. Theresa Knott | The otter sank 08:36, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

News from Grieferhate

I noticed that u seem 2 be a South Park fan. I'm looking 4 da episode in which Stan loses his virginity, because I wud rather be the "person dumb enough to look deserving to lose that much of their life." (Quoting Matt Stone's statement in the interview). I couldn't stand the idea of any other fan, especially u, looking dumb and deserving 2 lose as much of their life as Stan did. I don't think that it would be a very flattering mark, and I'm perfectly willing to save people that embarrassment and find them the episode. Do u think I'm doing da right thing or shud I let someone else find it? Thanks for the kindness you've shown me and your support in helping me with my slightly strong "campaign" to stop Kyle Broflovski's age being changed to 8, by da way! U have been a gud wikipedia friend! Grieferhate (talk) 23:10, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Sorry About That

No doubt you will see that I apparently reverted you and then undid my revert. My apologies that happened. I was going through television articles, saw you, checked your contribs, whereupon I accidentally clicked the rollback. Sorry once again, just wanted to let you know there's no problem: just a stupid twitch of my thumb. :P Happy editing! -WarthogDemon 01:36, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

User talk:Wilhelmina Will/Is Keira Knightley an Ichthyosaur?

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article User talk:Wilhelmina Will/Is Keira Knightley an Ichthyosaur?, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Misplaced Pages's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Misplaced Pages is not" and Misplaced Pages's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on ]. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of User talk:Wilhelmina Will/Is Keira Knightley an Ichthyosaur?. Fair use rationale for Image:Cosmo and Wanda.PNG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Cosmo and Wanda.PNG.

Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 02:30, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Stop removing tags that still apply. --Geniac (talk) 04:26, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

"It'll get deleted if it's not a redirect." - Yes, that's the point. A better version is now available and so this version of the same image needs to be deleted. If you continue being disruptive in this way, or any other, you will be blocked. You should also know that comments like "Have mercy, damn it! Mercy!!!" and "For shame!" sound childish and are not constructive. You need to give actual, valid reasons for things and use appropriate edit summaries that reflect the edit being made. --Geniac (talk) 20:10, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
You have been blocked from editing for a period of 48 hours in accordance with Misplaced Pages's blocking policy for disruption. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below. Geniac (talk) 04:31, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

{{unblock|I have work to do elsewhere in Misplaced Pages, and I cannot get it done with this delay. Furthermore, I have not caused disruption. After your final message to me, Geniac, did I revert you again? No, I did not. I merely attempted to close the discussion by saying why I did what I did, as I do with every discussion. I do not like images being deleted when they could be redirected instead. I do not like anything being deleted when it could be redirected instead. In proposed deletions of articles, the first thing I ever suggest is merely redirecting them. If those with the proper authority choose not to follow this advice, that's their business, not mine. Now I am off, thinking that this whole issue is over, gathering references for an article I am trying to improve, and I come back and find this has happened. Undo this act, please. To add to what I have to say: I'm sorry if I upset you in all this, Geniac, I truly am. But you must understand that I am quick-tempered, and I often lash out before I can stop myself. You might be amazed at how much worse my reaction would have been in January. And it took this sort of house arrest to make me realise where I was going wrong. Even now I've not got a perfect savoir faire, but I'm trying to stay on the road to it. But I should have been calmer, and explained myself more clearly and gently, I know. Especially when you and I have discussed things with each other two or three times before, and actually seemed to get along pretty well. I just don't understand why you won't leave the JPG images as redirects to the PNG images, or why you seem to show no emotion towards them. I hate it when people seem stone cold towards something I am passionate about; especially when I've previously known them to be very nice people, and excellent Wikipedians.}}

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

You appear to have learned that you should ask questions instead of being disruptive by repeatedly reverting with inappropriate edit summaries.

Request handled by: Geniac (talk) 14:44, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Actually, you have not yet unblocked me, Geniac, or there was a malfunction somewhere. I still cannot edit pages. But thank you very much, anyway! Wilhelmina Will (talk) 02:00, 7 April 2008 (UTC) Nevermind, I am back now. Wilhelmina Will (talk) 02:28, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:TimmyTurner.gif)

⚠

Thanks for uploading Image:TimmyTurner.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Misplaced Pages under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Misplaced Pages. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Misplaced Pages (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. -- lucasbfr 14:29, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

that's a wierd question

Well comparing to my american friends I'd say it's the same really. Matthieu (talk) 13:40, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

If you say that to a Frenchman he's going to think you love him, I doubt it is the purpose here is it? If you want to show how much you like the French language it's better to say "J'adore la langue française" or something like that so you can avoid ambiguities. Don't hesitate if you have other questions. Matthieu (talk) 20:50, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
The very few (I can think of only one time) I used another wikipedia article as a source (to back something I knew and I had other sources on the topic, just wanted to diversify the sources) I didn't quote the other article but re-used the academic source is used, in this precise case it was Duffy's Mediaval Ireland (I was tired of using Gillingham, Hallam, Aurel and Carpenter as contant sources). In all case, it won't give a lot of weight to the point if you just quote another wiki article, use a recognised source rather (can't say wiki is one) Matthieu (talk) 17:45, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
alright, here you go, it's not a litteral translation but is largely acceptable: "Quel est la meilleure façon de faire? Citer une source via un article ou se contenter de la laisser comme un lien en bas de page?" Matthieu (talk) 13:09, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages articles as a source

Where did you read that other Misplaced Pages articles can be cited in an article? " open wikis are largely not acceptable." (WP:SPS) and Misplaced Pages is not a "third-party published source with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy" (WP:SOURCES). You said, "in Chris Griffin's article, there was a statement, which another user removed, asking that they (who put it in) please cite the episode in which it occured". Yes, an episode can be cited, but not an episode's article. --Geniac (talk) 12:51, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes, when an episode is cited, a link to that episode's article would be appropriate. The refs I removed from Randy and Sharon Marsh didn't make it obvious what was being cited; the article or the episode. Using {{cite web}} or {{cite episode}} would make it clearer. BTW, no; see WP:NFCC#1. --Geniac (talk) 04:16, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

I must repaint my house

Correct translation would be: "Je dois repeindre ma maison". Cheers. Matthieu (talk) 08:21, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

HolywoodChicago.com

I see that you rejected the new article creation for HollywoodChicago.com. How does it not have reliable sources? It has a huge list of reliable sources.

Second attempt at article for HollywoodChicago.com

Per your guidance, I have created a new article. Is this new article better?

Probably the best place to further explain to the author (it took me a second to realize this was via the Articles for Creation process) why that article had problems... I went through those sources... none of them are about HollywoodChicago.com - they are stories about other things that link to stories about those things that happen to be published by HollywoodChicago.com - I am glad the site is seeing success in syndicating its content... but again, no one is talking about the site itself... only Batman and film screening. (And Wilhelmina Will, thanks for taking care of it.)--Marcinjeske (talk) 09:31, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
On my talk page it said the article is live, but I just checked and the new article for HollywoodChicago.com is all gone and only appears to redirect to the Chicago Film Critics Association. Why is it a redirect and why is the whole article gone? Are you looking for stories that instead write about the publication (like this and this?) --68.72.135.94 (talk) 20:42, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Wilhelmina Will said in edit summary: You were all for redirecting on the other user's talk page.

No, I was not all for redirecting on User_talk:68.72.135.94. I said there were three paths which could be taken, one of them being keeping the redirect that you created as a way to wait until things cool over. The one I preferred was restoring the article and leaving it Proposed for deletion so that the opinion of another editor would be solicited. However, given that it was obvious that the HC.com people objected to deletion and I presume you object to deletion, I had to follow my third option, which was to bring the article up for a discussion... in going through the prescribed process, the Misplaced Pages software informed me that this exact article had already been discussed a few month ago, and deleted with overwhelming consensus. the relevant discussions are:

He has been wasting all of our time and the time of editors before us... by repeatedly submitting the same promotional content. I read the third party article cited, I listened to the whole darn radio interview... there is nothing there except to substantiate that HC.com exists. What he says in an interview are his own words... you cannot be a third-party source for yourself. I hope you understand I am not drawing this line because of some spite... but Misplaced Pages is so awash in self-promotion that every piece we can keep out is vital. --Marcinjeske (talk) 21:32, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

I see that you have removed my speedy deletion and restored the redirect. If I interpret WP:CSD correctly, you are the creator of the page:
Any editor who is not the creator of a page may remove a speedy tag from it.
The creator may not do this. A creator who disagrees with the speedy deletion
should instead add hangon to the page, and explain the rationale on the page's discussion page.
Assuming your redirect was intended to disagrees with my speedy deletion request, I am restoring the page, placing the hangon on your behalf, and copying the substance of discussion from User_talk:68.72.135.94 on the HC.com discussion page. --Marcinjeske (talk) 21:39, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Inga Liepa and reliable sources

www.integracija.gov.lv You have declined creating article about Inga Liepa - the most senior civil servant in the Republic of Latvia. There is only sixteen (16) so high top officials in Latvia. She is secretary of State. Article was provided with the source - official government home page of ministry, with her official curriculum vitae (http://www.integracija.gov.lv/?id=308&top=46&sa=62&doc=1248). Can you, please, explain me - what can be more reputable source than government offical information on top official - Secretary of State? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.199.125.107 (talk) 23:07, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

HollywoodChicago.com

A tag has been placed on HollywoodChicago.com, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to a user page from the main/article space.

If you can fix the redirect to point to a regular Misplaced Pages article rather than a user page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you are fixing the redirect. If you think the redirect should be retained as is for some reason, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your reasoning on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Geniac (talk) 02:13, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Wilhelmina_Will, I am really disappointed that after three admins have deleted HollywoodChicago.com and at least two other editors (not to mention all the editors in the previous debates and all the editors who have to delete the link spam pointing to HC.com to the various film pages) have objected to the creation of the article, you insist on recreating it. I think it is a good thing that you help out new users create articles, but in this case you are not following the spirit or the letter of Misplaced Pages's guidelines. I do not understand your belief that an inappropriate article can somehow be ok if you redirect it somewhere else for a while. The people who run HC.com have been repeatedly to spam Misplaced Pages every few months, and you are only letting them use you to continue the blatant promotion of this commercial website. --Marcinjeske (talk) 10:03, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
None of my business and all of that, and I have no idea regarding the notability of the website, but.. regarding HC spamming us, that really shouldn't impact our creation or deletion of an article for them. Like WP:SELF says, when it comes to those things, we should approach the situation as if we were not Misplaced Pages. -- Ned Scott 10:07, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Please, do make it your business... because although I am pretty sure about my stance... I have done all I can in terms of editing the actual page... I should have been more clear... when I say spam... I mean trying to create that article... HollywoodChicago.com has been created and subsequently deleted every few months. (see the article's talk page for more details). So no, I am not suggesting that spam in other parts of Misplaced Pages is grounds for an article to be included... but repeatedly trying to create the same self-promotional article when nothing about it's notability has changed and no reliable third-party sources have appeared is spam.
There is the separate issue of links to HC.com being placed in other articles in a clearly self-promotional way... but that is not the issue I complained about above. Sorry to not have been clearer. --Marcinjeske (talk) 10:45, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
Ah, ok, that does make more sense then. -- Ned Scott 10:46, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Message from 72.200.176.36

Rear wheel barely moves. Try the following:

Lift rear end up and manually spin rear wheel forward. Should spin 3-4 times with no resistance. If the wheel does not spin freely, replace rear wheel.

Re: A Pistol for Ringo

Please read the entire decline reason. It clearly says the article was declined out of a concern for the internal footnotes having absolutely no relevance to the items they cite. Redfarmer (talk) 20:40, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Hey, thanks for the cookies! Funny what can happen to your user pages when you're not even around ... That particular vandal has been making sockpuppets to add goofy stuff to the Liberace article. I don't quite get his point, but then there may not be one. Happy editing!  :) Antandrus (talk) 16:45, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Block for 48 hours

You have been blocked from editing Misplaced Pages for a period of 48 hours as a result of your disruptive edits. You are free to make constructive edits after the block has expired, but please note that vandalism (including page blanking or addition of random text), spam, deliberate misinformation, privacy violations, personal attacks; and repeated, blatant violations of our policies concerning neutral point of view and biographies of living persons will not be tolerated. You appear to have vandalized France. If this has been done in error, please contact me, or another admin at WP:AN. Bearian (talk) 00:56, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Lol, this is incorrect for two reasons. One, France hasn't even been edited since the fifth of May, at this point. 2. I would never vandalize a Misplaced Pages page; I always edit in good faith. And actually three: I love France, and any article relating to it is especially dear to me. So, using logic, this must be an incorrect accusation. But everyone makes mistakes. Have a good day!!! Winnifred-Ian-Leonard-Harry-Ellen-Lucy-Marilyn-Ingrid-Nora-Amanda Walter-Ira-Lauren-Lalla (talk) 01:07, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
There is also a fourth reason: I myself haven't edited the article since the seventh of April: , and this edit was in compliance with a discussion that the gallery section be abandoned. Winnifred-Ian-Leonard-Harry-Ellen-Lucy-Marilyn-Ingrid-Nora-Amanda Walter-Ira-Lauren-Lalla (talk) 01:12, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Crossposted from the blocking admins talk page: I am not sure I understand the reason for the block. Whatever else I could say, there does not appear to be any vandalism from looking at her contrib log to France or any other articles. The user actually reverted vandalism here and a not useful edit here. Earlier fix was for Nice. Is there a chance you confused this user with the vandals WW was reverting. --Marcinjeske (talk) 04:04, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

His? Tsk tsk. No, this user is a she. Winnifred-Ian-Leonard-Harry-Ellen-Lucy-Marilyn-Ingrid-Nora-Amanda Walter-Ira-Lauren-Lalla (talk) 04:10, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Bearian undid himself right away He musta screwed up something. Not sure what, but everyone makes innocent mistakes, and he self corrected it. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 04:12, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes, it was an innocent mistake, a royal screw-up, and I corrected it myself immediately, erasing what I thought would be embarrassing for all. I am very sorry for the mistake. Bearian (talk) 15:10, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
Regarding His?' - I actually was aware you were female... and after catching myself using the wrong pronoun towards the end of the message... I went through to double-check.. and fixed one or two places... somehow I missed that last one (probably because it was in a link). What always throws me off is the "Will"... desolé. As for why I even brought this up... I saw that in the log Bearian had unblocked, but the reason given was "Insufficient warning" ... which made it sound like WW had vandalized but hadn't been warned about it. Since past blocks reflect badly on an editor, I just wanted to make sure that the record was clear. Of course it was an innocent mistake.. and Bearian corrected it quickly. --Marcinjeske (talk) 02:26, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

You're absolutely right, in that I cannot block you. For one thing, I am not yet an administrator, and I daresay it'll be some time before I have enough time to go and nominate myself. As for those cookies, I know how you got them, and I did not give them to you, you stole them from Antandrus's talk page. I can prove it right here.: Luckily, User:Tiggerjay very kindly reverted your vandalism right afterwards: Anyway, whether you keep coming back or not, the admins are always hot on vandalizer's trails, so you will be caught each time. Have a nice day!!! Winnifred-Ian-Leonard-Harry-Ellen-Lucy-Marilyn-Ingrid-Nora-Amanda Walter-Ira-Lauren-Lalla (talk) 04:48, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Short articles

Hi. To answer the question you left in your last edit summary, you need to add a lot more content to an article than just a single sentence and an external link. In other words, someone researching the subject already knows they're researching an extinct sea turtle. If you're planning to expand these, please do so before they're either redirected again or nominated for speedy deletion. Hope this helps. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 04:03, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

  • Wow, looks as if you've done quite a few of these. My suggestion would be to flesh out the ones you have before creating any more. It'll save you the hassle of having to answer speedy deletions and redirects. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 04:05, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

With all due respect, it's up to the creator to create something suitable for an end user of the site and not other editors. If you're collaborating with other editors in creating these, please accept my apologies. Otherwise, you might want to take a peek at WP:STUB. That will give yo a good idea of what needs to go into a new stub. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 04:10, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

AfC

Hi there, I see you're helping out at Afc, so thanks for that, any help is welcome to avoid the ghost of the backlog ever returning :) Anyway, I'd just like to give you a little pointer, when you create an article from an Afc submission you have to add a little disclaimer in the edit summary explaining that the article was created thru Afc and giving credit to the IP that submitted it. This is required by the GFDL so we really have to follow it. This is what I use: This article was created as part of the Misplaced Pages:Articles for creation backlong effort, submitted by IP: though of course any variation is fine. Thanks for helping out! Acer (talk) 21:48, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

No problem, and thanks again for lending a hand :) Acer (talk) 22:11, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi again! Sorry for the confusion Acer (talk) 23:37, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Plagiarism

Would you care to explain why you plagiarized my work here? It's apparent you read the to-do list on my user page by creating Equality North Carolina and City Market in Raleigh, but how about doing your own research and not copying my work. Also, the Equality NC article is a mess and you need to fix it. APK 08:45, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

There are a number of pointers here:
  1. You seemed to be taking a while, so I decided to make things easier.
  2. You did say "Feel free to create them as well"
  3. In the editing boxes of any page, it says "If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed for profit by others, do not submit it."
  4. If you want to work on them, no one is stopping you. This is a 💕, which anyone can edit.

Have a good day! Winnifred-Ian-Leonard-Harry-Ellen-Lucy-Marilyn-Ingrid-Nora-Amanda Walter-Ira-Lauren-Lalla (talk) 08:59, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

FYI, there is now a topic on ANI related to this. APK 09:07, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
No need to reply. The article has been deleted. From now on, I'd appreciate if you would do your own homework instead of copying from others. APK 11:21, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi Wilhemina, you can of course create any article that needs to be created. However, you can't copy and paste material from one place on Misplaced Pages to another because that violates the GFDL. When you copied and pasted the Moore Square article, material that AgnosticPreachersKid wrote looked like it was written by you, and that is not acceptable. That is why SeraphimWhipp deleted it. Aleta 15:11, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Whether you delete a child of mine or not, APK, you still have no right to edit any of my usersubpages. Do not do so again. Winnifred-Ian-Leonard-Harry-Ellen-Lucy-Marilyn-Ingrid-Nora-Amanda Walter-Ira-Lauren-Lalla (talk) 19:54, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Anyway, Mr. APK, you don't have to worry about me doing that again. I got what I wanted to get done done, now it's back to creating missing extinct creatures and what's suggested in AFC. Winnifred-Ian-Leonard-Harry-Ellen-Lucy-Marilyn-Ingrid-Nora-Amanda Walter-Ira-Lauren-Lalla (talk) 20:03, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

A child? You have so many issues it's not even funny. What you did was dishonest and claiming that you "mothered" it on your creation page is dishonest. From now on I'm watching your "creation" page to see what else you might be stealing. Stick to creating your own work and everything will be find and dandy in WP land. Oh yeah, nice try with pointing the finger at me in regards to editing your subpage where you lied about writing the article. You had no problems with going into my subpages and stealing my work, now did you? We now know you're a thief and a liar. APK 06:16, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Did I at any time make a change to your page? Look in the history of your sandbox. Do you see my name anywhere? And I have a distinct system for how my userpages are edited, and what you did disrupted that system. You've gotten what you wanted; mine was executed and yours was born. That's enough. Stop defending yourself and please do not come back here again. Thank you. The ''Gorgeous Girl''!!! (talk) 06:19, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

Earlier today you rejected my article on this subject due to it had no sources. I understand that all proposed articles should have them, however some sujects like this one are hard to find sources for them. The information given in this article has followed on from the previous season and doesn’t really need a source. I would like you to read Premier Reserve League 2007-08 and then reconsider my article for creation. Thank You.

Please do not create hoaxes, such as you did in the article Golden Gate Highway. Cease and desist from introducing misinformation into Misplaced Pages if you are attempting to test our ability to detect and remove it. This has been done before, with universally negative results. Hoaxes are marked for deletion shortly after they are created. Kindly — do not disrupt Misplaced Pages to illustrate a point. If you are interested in how accurate Misplaced Pages is, a more constructive test method is to try to find inaccurate statements that are already in Misplaced Pages, and then to check to see how long they have been in place and, if possible, correct them. Feel free to take a look at the five pillars of Misplaced Pages policy to learn more about this project and how you can make a positive impact. Here's the deal with the IP

The guy in Misplaced Pages:Requests for comment/75.47.x.x requested a bunch of redirects at AFC. As is par for his course, several were fine but the majority were nonsense. You innocently created them; I tagged them for deletion and the IP is going after you (again something he's done before with other AFC workers). --NE2 00:11, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
