==Trivia== | |||
Good afternoon, Sandy. I know this guideline is a hornet's nest and that you tend to avoid unnecessary drama, ''but'' one of your areas of focus seems to be MOS-related improvements, so I figure I'd come to you. Is ] really deserving of official MOS ''guideline'' status? I have a hard time with practically every notion that this "guideline" espouses; I was thinking of marking its status as disputed. But first I wanted your expert opinion.--] (]) 17:06, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
:That's a can of worms that goes beyond that one page; there is currently *no process* (as amazing as that seems) by which any guideline page gets added to {{t1|style}}. I've been attempting to address this for several weeks, but a couple of editors/Projects have ownership issues, so no progress has been made. To address an individual guideline problem, you'll probably have to 1) join the broader discussions at ] and 2) have patience. It's a ''huge'' issue that needs to be sorted out. There are currently almost 70 pages at {{t1|style}}, with no means of sorting out which of them enjoy consensus or by what process they got added there. One proposal on the table is that we need a MOS WikiProject to coordinate and rationalize the current mess that exists among all these guideline pages. ] (]) 17:15, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
::Oh my goodness! This is much more depressing than I feared. I'll check out ], to be sure, and will do my best not to issue any violent rants.
::As far as the specific, abhorrent Trivia guideline is concerned, the page starts out sensibly enough with "Trivia sections should be avoided." But ] where I start to gag and recoil. ''That's'' part of or Manual of Style??? And no one knows whether, how or why consensus was determined? Sheesh. Thanks for the reply!--] (]) 17:25, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
:::Yes, that part is particularly awful, and could probably be disputed. I suggest you raise it at ] as an example of the issue of how things get added to MOS. ] (]) 17:33, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Hello, Sandy. You've been very patient with me in the past over my lack of skill with MOS issues. I've given myself a good talkng to and am now a lot more careful. I am working on a series of Antarctic exploration articles, trying to improve the general standard. You know about the Ross Sea party, now FA, and the Terra Nova Expedition, now FAC. When you have a moment, I wonder if you could look at the third in line, which is ]? I've put it up for peer review, but it has no comments as of right now. I think it's much better MOS-wise than either of the others, but I'd welcome confirmation of this, also other comments. I'd really appreciate it ] (]) 20:28, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

::I think the Wii image should go and have noted that on the FAC. The phantom image is not used in the article at the moment, whilst discussion is ongoing at ]. It has been replaced with another one which is better in my opinion. I would say that the Phantom should not be held because of the image, the discussion is going on in the right place and the article is stable. The Wii one though is different, I would wait for the issue to be resolved. (My opinions of course, but absolutely defer). ] (]) 17:15, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

::::Butting in - causing trouble, am I? I still have reservations about the new image; I don't recall the article mentioning those actors, so the NFCC implications seem even greater. :::::(e/c) Not causing trouble, just being thorough, FACs need that. The actors are mentioned in the first sentence of the section that the image is in. It adds significantly to the article as it illustrates the actors in a decorated role, the longest run in the history of the theatre. My will to participate in Misplaced Pages has waned due to the harassment it brings, both on and off Misplaced Pages, with real consequences to living persons and their families. I am following only those articles I have contributed to extensively, and issues or content areas where bullies predominate. I receive pings by email only; I may continue to occasionally check my watchlist and email, but please don't count on me to regularly respond to queries or to keep up with the work I once did. This user is no longer very active on Misplaced Pages.
In appreciation

The Helping Hand Barnstar
Hi Sandy! I was assigned to the AD article a long while ago with some peers in my class and have been keeping tabs on the article since then. Similar to the previous barnstar (above), I'm honestly a huge fan of your work - you were super helpful back when I was learning the ropes of Misplaced Pages editing and I wanted to come back and say THANK YOU for all that. I hope all is well and that you know all your efforts are appreciated and remembered :) Bharatss-SB (talk) 20:37, 15 August 2024 (UTC) |
- Thank you so much, AirshipJungleman29 and Bharatss-SB; if has been a rough year and I have been unable to help out as I'd like. I hope you have a Happy New Year! SandyGeorgia (Talk) 00:10, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
Thank you!

To SandyGeorgia on the occasion of the Minneapolis FA being kept. You put in years of work keeping this article honest. Thank you! -SusanLesch (talk) 17:36, 6 October 2024 (UTC) |
- That was quite a haul, SusanLesch and I commend you for your tenacity through such difficulty. I'm sorry that issues in real life have made it impossible for me to continue to help. I hope you have a Happy New Year! SandyGeorgia (Talk) 00:15, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
A g.o.a.t. for you!
When I grow up I want to do edits like you do Sandy, you are the g.o.a.t. in my book.

Request for input
Sandy, I know you're quite busy, but I was wondering if you could spare the time sometime to look over Talk:Landis's Missouri Battery#Revamping. I either slipped a substandard article through FAC in 2020, or my perfectionism is flaring up again. Or maybe a mix of the two. Hog Farm Talk 03:01, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
A barnstar for you!
The Barnstar of Diligence
Went through some of the J. K. Rowling archived discussions from the past few months, out of curiosity. Your diligence in trying to clean up the article, your tireless attempts to keep a civil environment all-around, and most of all your continued efforts to remain impartial and mindful of proper policies and guidelines, impressed me, regardless of whether I agreed or not with your suggested changes. Thanks for your work. LaughingManiac (talk) 23:00, 24 October 2024 (UTC) |
- Thank you, LaughingManiac and I hope you have a Happy New Year! SandyGeorgia (Talk) 00:16, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
Invitation to provide feedback
Inspired by Worm That Turned's re-RfA where he noted administrators don't get a lot of feedback or suggestions for improvement, I have decided to solicit feedback. I'm reaching out to you as you are currently one of the users I've selected as part of my recall process. I hope you will consider taking a few moments to fill out my feedback form. Clicking on the link will load the questions and create a new section on my user talk. Thanks for your consideration. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 16:03, 2 December 2024 (UTC)

Hello again. Apologies for leaving this random message, especially since I know you are more semi-retired on here, but I just wanted to say that I hope you are doing well and having a great end of the year! I just wanted to send some kind words your way. Aoba47 (talk) 17:59, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- Just popping by to echo Aoba47's sentiment. I'm glad to see you're around here and there, and I hope I continue seeing you around. Wishing you and your family all the best for 2025, leaving behind what sounds like it has been a challenging 2024. Ajpolino (talk) 13:03, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- Happy New Year, Ajpolino! I am around as I'm able, but I'm not anticipating that 2025 will be any less challenging than 2024. It is wonderful to hear from you, and when/if I next get a breather, I will send you an email to update you on my absence. All the best, SandyGeorgia (Talk) 00:23, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
