Hey, that removal of the info about the Abe Lincoln Brigade from the lead, actually WAS explained, and it kind of makes sense. The IP noted that by adding it there, the article becomes a bit US-centric. Otherwise, we would need to add notes about every nation that had volunteers show up for the fighting. The info is included further down in the article, so really doesn't need to be in the lead. ] (]) 02:52, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Hello again!

== Murder Ballads article ==
I don't actually know much about Trigun, I've only ever seen 1 or 2 episodes. But it seems to me that it might be a little bit of a category-straddler. From the description, it seems to be a "Science fiction Western" that ''happens'' to take place on another planet (Gunsmoke), making it by a ''very literal'' reading of the definition, happening "in space" thereby a Space Western. A conundrum indeed. I would tend to put it SciFi Western because, as I understand, it doesn't actually ''deal'' with space. Yes? - ] 22:49, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
:''I will be the first to admit that I know nothing about anime, so all I can go by is the article. This seems to very clearly indicate that it is a sci-fi western, and not a "space" western, per se. Of course, as you say, there is no reason, necessarily, that it cannot be both. I will defer to your knowledge and opinion on this matter, though. Do what you think is best. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 22:53, 22 January 2008 (UTC)''
::I wasn't trying to second-guess your revert. I agree with it, in principle -- the show does have, from what I know of it, what I would consider a "Western setting". I just followed the link over to the article this time because I've seen Trigun pop up on the Space Western list several times now, and I wondered if maybe we weren't maybe missing something on this one. But I would tend to agree with you that the fact that it ''happens'' to take place not on earth does not make it a "space" anything. I just wanted to see if you had any thoughts on the matter. If not, then forget I asked ;) - ] 22:57, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Hi. :) As I said at my talk page, I'm bringing my answer here for indentation reasons. I'll be watchlisting your talk page so we can talk about it more.

== Merry Merry! ==
I'm answering two question: what else does ] need before creation, and what else could be done to it. :) First: probably nothing. Except, as is, you'd want to remove the empty section. You've certainly got plenty enough to qualify as a stub. If it were mine, I'd probably look for a few more reviews just to ensure notability, but I know what a challenge that can be with anything outside of the pop realm.

{| style="background-color: #fdffe7; border: 4px solid #FFD700;"
What else could be done to it:
|rowspan="2" style="vertical-align: middle; padding: 2px;" | ]
*I'd either move the external link reviews to join the AMG reviews in the infobar or, more likely, yank a few relevant quotes out of them to put into that critical reception section.
|style="font-size: x-large; padding: 2px 2px 0 2px; height: 1.5em;" | '''Merry Christmas and a Prosperous 2020!'''
*Looking at your source, I note that it doesn't say that the album attempts to be blahblah, but that it ''is''. I'd probably revise that opening something like so:
|-
{{cquote|'''''Doctors, Professors, Kings and Queens: The Big Ol' Box of New Orleans''''' is the name of a ] box set compilation gathering 85 songs representing the music of ] from the 1920s to 2003. Represented on the album are a variety of musical genres, including ], ] and ], and a number of musicians, mingling noted artists such as ], ], ] and ] with less renowned musicians. In its review, ] describes the album as a "a traveler's guide to the legendary city's rich musical heritage."<ref>{{allmusic|id=10:09fuxqrsld6e|label= Doctors, Professors, Kings and Queens: The Big Ol' Box of New Orleans}}</ref>}}
|style="vertical-align: middle; padding: 3px;" |
(I reformatted that allmusic reference with the ].)
----
*Here's the nightmare. There should be a credits section. Those are pain with box sets. Just I tend to divide mine between performance & production and put them in columns, like ].
'''Hello TheOldJacobite, may you be surrounded by peace, success and happiness on this ]. Spread the ] by wishing another user a ] and a ], whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past, a good friend, or just some random person. Sending you heartfelt and warm greetings for Christmas and New Year 2020. <br />Happy editing,'''<br />
*Track listing needs times and composers, which would also be a huge headache, since in the main list at AMG they only offer performers. To find out composers, you have to follow the link for each song. For example, the main page tells us Dr. John performed Iko Iko, but says who wrote it. On compilation albums, I tend to put that information in a chart, like ].
] (]) 01:06, 23 December 2019 (UTC)
*In addition to pulling quotes out of the reviews and summarizing the reception, I'd certainly want to talk about the book that comes with it. Those sounds like some pretty remarkable liner notes. :)
*Of course, there's the cover & categories.

''{{resize|96%|Spread the love by adding {{tls|Seasonal Greetings}} to other user talk pages.}}''
Anyway, if you want to add any of those things to the article, so much the better. It doesn't absolutely ''need'' them to go into article space, though. Without the credits, track listing & composers, the album can only remain at stub status, but a good stub is better than no information at all. --] ] 16:03, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
|}

== Join the Months of African Cinema Global Contest! ==
:The track times are . :) You may not actually need to see the book to mention it. There's probably enough information in the reviews to pull that together. Anyway, as I said, it could almost as is for stub status. --] ] 23:41, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Greetings,
Could you please quote the passage in ] that supports having a left-aligned lead image? The guideline clearly states that lead images should be right aligned. As far as the "portrait facing" issue goes: 1. the image is not a portrait, it's a poster. 2. no article follows that guideline. If it did, hundreds of bios would have left-aligned lead images. They don't, because it's disruptive to readability. ]] 20:10, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
:Yes, I've read the paragraph on left vs. right facing portraits. But the image is not a portrait, it's an artist's poster, and there are two people depicted. Only the background one is facing right, so it's not enough to controvert the preferred right alignment. ]] 20:26, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

I see that the Coomaraswamy & Merton refs are redundant w/ other content, so that needs to stay deleted. My bad. ANOTHER QUESTION: the reference list is inconsistent re. ISBN's. Should they be there as live links? If so, shouldn't they also be in the "books" section? Otherwise, we have a page that has live links to others' books, but not to the subjects' books. Someone has taken umbrage with your recent removal of ''traditional''. I explained (rather brashly) that ''conservative'' and ''traditional'' mean the same thing... Apparently though, this is a problem for some to understand, and it's been re-re-reverted after I re-reverted it if that makes any sense. I personally feel that writing should be concise -- at least that's what every Professor I've ever had has imbued on me. Apparently, some people don't agree and would rather waste time on adding extra words than time trying to bend their heads around a relatively simple concept. Thoughts?] (]) 21:34, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

:Ryecatcher: Yes, you were quite "brash" about it, to say the least. No matter, I'm not going to make an issue of it, which is what I came here to tell RepublicanJacobite after his recent revert of my edit.<p>I'm all for conciseness -- in fact, I've made something of a speciality out of reducing the "plot" sections of movie articles without losing their fundamental meaning, so I'm quite aware of the concept. I also think, however, that there is sometimes rhetorical value in using a number of words (usually three) which are close in meaning, but not precisely the same, to emphasize a point - and this is true of "traditional and conservative". Every word has an "aura" of implications about it which define them just as much as a dictionary definition does, and these two carry somewhat different auras - closely related, absolutely, but not precisely the same.<p>Be that as it may, it's not something worth edit-warring over, or even holding an extended discussion about it on the article talk page, and I just came by to say so. ] <b><small>(] / ])</small></b> 01:12, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

==Christos from Greece==

Well, Republican Jacobite, I see that you have made the aim of your life to exterminate all of my contributions in Misplaced Pages and you claim that I have a self-interest conflict... well, I do not have a self-interest conflict, I totally agree with myself!!!
Now, after the joke, I really want to say that I have in Greek a lot of sources -actually, I have bought all the books of Camus and I also have translated 13 books or essays by him which are not yet published in Greece. Now, it seems that you just do not want the readers of Misplaced Pages to learn anything else about him... If you read his essays in The Summer, you will see that he says he is a ''son of Greece''. In 1956 he came in Greece and he gave a lecture where he said that he was member of the same team with Kazantzakis - you also erased eveything about it in my Kazantzakis contribution.... But why??? I think that you are the Nationalist. Now, you also erased a very good contribution of me about Gabriel Marcel. Misplaced Pages had a very bad article about him, I made ot very better giving a glimpse of the relations between Marcel, Camus, Kazantzakis and Maritain and you, the Terminator, came to protect the readers of Misplaced Pages, when itself the article said it wanted treatment from an expert on the subject. I claim that I have the right to be an expert on this subject while you are only spending your time erasing articles. Will you ever create something artistic or you will only be a science-FICTION "writer"? Sorry for the offence, but I propose you to read the Speech of Camus in Stockholm and his essay "Creating Dangerously" in his collection Resistance, Rebellion and Death. As for Marcel, if you search on the Internet, you will find that -as he said- his theatrical plays are the Islands of Greece and his books are the Land of Greece in harmony with Nature and Environment. I appeal to you with a challenge... if you can, write something better than me OR, IF NOT, stop destroying. I think you are a nihilist. I want to tell you, finally, that I have the book ''Christian Metaphysics and Neoplatonism'' and you delete every report about it!!! Why? Are you afraid of something??? Of written words?
Please, DO read the 2 volumes of THE MYSTERY OF BEING in Gifford Lectures by Gabriel Marcel. Stop for 2 days your fundamentalistic flight in the planes against the twin towers of my writings and consecrate 3 days in reading this book.
As far as that I am nonotable, well, I hear the notes of Louis Armstrong, Franz List and Mikis Theodorakis!
Yours,

Please comment on deleted T.S. Eliot "Jacob Epstein" sub-section

I have seen that you have made edits to the T.S. Eliot article before. I am interested in your comments on a recent change. A recent sub-section about the sculptor Jacob Epstein was made to the T.S. Eliot article. I deleted the addition and explained my reasons on the talk page.

Here is what was removed: https://en.wikipedia.org/search/?title=T._S._Eliot&action=historysubmit&type=revision&diff=877562978&oldid=877549994

Some have mentioned on the talk page that the Epstein material should be put back. Would you please look at the changes and make your opinion known on the Eliot talk page: https://en.wikipedia.org/Talk:T._S._Eliot#Jacob_Epstein

Murder Ballads article

Hi, OldJacobite. I noticed in the Murder ballad talk section that you had an interest in this article. I'd appreciate your feedback on my new comments which address changes I've made and plan to make to the article's List of Murder Ballads section: Talk:Murder ballad#Cleanup of List of Murder Ballads section. Thanks. Allreet (talk) 18:19, 20 April 2019 (UTC)

AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October!

Greetings!

After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Misplaced Pages articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.

The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.

On English Misplaced Pages, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:

  • Overall winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd places)
  • Diversity winner
  • Gender-gap fillers

For further information about the contest, the recognition categories and how to participate, please visit the contest page here. For further inquiries, please leave comments on the contest talkpage or on the main project talkpage. See you around :).--Jamie Tubers (talk) 00:50, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
